That board is still alive but is a shadow of its former self. It's a shame.I don't remember when I signed up but this thread wasn't a freeforall like it is now despite what some claim. I lurked for years while watching Eagles Live religiously before I created an account. I remember signing up to comment on a post from @Iggles_Phan but I don't remember what it was about . On the old board there was even more activity just in regular TATE. We had posters from other teams in ATNFL like Froggy. No idea what happened to him and the many others. We had weekly threads that were actually active. The other subforums were actually active. I love what VA has done and extremely thankful for him stepping up to keep it alive but yea it's not what it used to be

It was a challenge for many but the perception was that it was a place for really strong football discussion. This was also at a time that random rumors and opinions without verifiable substantial could result in a ban. And yes…Douglas changed the entire tone of the Blog all by himself. Before Doug it was respectful and civil even in disagreements. For Douglas the Blog was all about competition rather than collaboration. In those early days the Blog had lots of lurkers/observers who were like sponges … soaking in the information. I was never a lurker (it’s not my MO) but the amount of knowledge I acquired/absorbed from our fellow Blog posters is incalculable.

One of the great strengths of the Blog here is that its resilience in adapting to a broad array of posters is pretty incredible. In many ways @Joe Ball epitomizes the Blog’s strength. As much as we hate the Cowboys, even more we enjoy high quality football talk, and we have made a place for him to be "one of the gang.” Of course it helps that he feels Jerry is an Ass.

September 20Sep 20 Chambliss is so much better than any of the ‘27 QB prospects I’ve seen. I just don’t get how anyone could take Dante Moore over him.

Because the old EMB was part of PE.com it was brainlessly easy for them to find the EMB. Now it takes some effort, and most of them don’t make the effort.

Those mindless predictions are part of the glue that keeps us playing here together.

Chased Rosie back to Chattanooga, where Grant would bail him out. I have always wondered what would have happened if Old Pete had held command there instead of Bragg.Likely a better cohesive defense and a more popular choice within the AofTEN, but didn’t Longstreet get a shot at independent command during the Knoxville Campaign and it didn’t go great? Peter principal.

At that time it was pretty close though I had a book out and he didn’t, which probably pissed him off. Only fair as it didn’t sell a lot of copies. There came an antisemitic post that got him banned. He should have stuck to the War of Northern Aggression.

September 20Sep 20 Something is seriously wrong with me. Instead of watching college football, I’m more interested in a 10 year old episode of Iron Chef. Gawd, I love the cooking channel. 🐖🦬💕
September 20Sep 20 I’ve said this before, but if Dart and Scattyboo cannot control their craziness, neither will see a second NFL contract. But, agreed, they are fun to watch.

There was great hostility to Peteafter the war because of his post-war duties but it was part of the Lost Cause movement that so corrupted history and looks to be being redeveloped with new clothes.
