Reminder when Gush and Pulley played in the preseason the secondary got torched. I can’t say I watched the games back to analyze. Gush looked fast on ST. But yeah with pulley at least I suspect they could have kept him if they wanted to. I don’t get the feeling that Gush was the 54th guy either but who knows. And I’m not sure why they kept Jenkins over Latu but I’d be a little surprised if he’s here all season anyway

Gush >>>> Pulley. Of the guys getting poached, he is the one I wished we found a way to keep.

Random question that just popped into my brain: starting today, what's the minimum Hurts needs to make the HOF?

IMO if he wins either an MVP or another SB, he's a lock.

If he gets to another SB, he'll probably make it.

Anything less and it gets murky IMO

Good question. Definitely an MVP would get him there and probably another Super Bowl win would too.

He’s in his 6th year as a full time starter. If the Eagles make the playoffs this year that’s 6 straight seasons of taking your team to the playoffs. If he does that 8 years in a row, I think that gets him in. Definitely 10 years should do it.

His resume:

1 Super Bowl title/MVP

1 MVP runner-up

2 Super Bowl appearances

3 division titles (in 5 seasons)

70.1% career win percentage- same as Peyton manning

I think if he would've won the regular season MVP in 2022 that would've helped his chances tremendously. I think he needs a couple more seasons of that caliber of year where he is considered top 5 at the position. I think the HOF voting has been a bit relaxed and they are actually going to tighten it up moving forward. So the guys that are getting in would be considered the best of the best during the time they played. Does Hurts meet that criteria now? And if not now, could he meet it in the future? What are Barkley's chances at being in the HOF? I think he has a better chance than Hurts. I think if Barkley improves his stats a bit more he's in. I think he has to crack 10K rushing yards for his career and that would solidify it.

Sorry, they needed 4 QBs and at least 2 useless TEs.

He traded a late 7th rounder for Dalton. Worthless. I would have likely saved 2 roster spots by waiving him and putting Payton on PS. But that's just me. We are in trouble, if either if those 2 guys play anyway. You can pick up that kind of shiddy quality later if injury arises. I rather keep that spot open, even, til something better comes along.

No draft pick is worthless. Ojomo was a very late 7th round pick. Mailata was a 7th round pick. You don't give them away like candy.

Another SB and he's in IMO and this is coming from a "Hurts hater" lol

They'll compare him to Wilson and whether he gets in

He very likely has a bunch more years in the league. He has Howie as his GM seemingly for life. And Siri as his coach. He is going to have a great career win percentage, make a bunch more playoffs and hopefully some deep runs.

I dont even think its a question of if. Hes going to make it.

The question is, will be do enough to be first ballot or not. That is where you probably get to have have the discussion- he was on a lot of really good teams and had serious flaws in his game, or he really became a dominant player in his own right with the Mannion offense and earned 1st ballot.

There may still be the "did he get carried" but you're right if he blows up with this Mannion offense then he's likely a 1st ballot

Ferris Bueller's Day Off would be my choice.

The "consistent top 5" is one path to get there, but historically there are other paths for QBs. There are stat compilers and then just "notable" players who get in for a combination of factors.

I think it's Chris Russo who says "can you tell the story of the NFL without them?" and you really can't without Hurts. He's a central part of two of the most memorable SBs ever, has the Tush Push legacy (sounds ridiculous but it's true), and even if it's not technically part of the scoring, he was part the national football culture for years at Alabama and Oklahoma.

I never knew this existed until now but it's kind of cool:

As divisive as Hurts is, some of that will definitely bleed into the voting. People will probably always think he's a fraud/product of the system because of what you mentioned.

He also doesn't have any MVPs or 1st team All Pros

Right now hes just in the hall of very good.

If he can take the next step in progression as an actual QB with Mannion, then he will likely actually deserve the HOF based on his own accomplishments rather than team accomplishments.

Right now HOF committee can look at total TDs and win percentage. But its going to be tough to put in a QB who has pretty consistently thrown for under 200 yards in a ton of games. That should prevent him from getting right in.

But, again if Mannion is turning him in to a QB (and week 2 was pretty promising) then he has a chance to erase that narrative.

Jalen Hurts is definitely a top 10 qb, top 20 isn't even any kind of question

I forgot about that which is funny because I use that site for most stat tracking because it's less ad heavy than others

The MVPs and all pros will hurt but I think another ring will do it. It'll be comparable to Eli. No all pros and no MVP but 2 rings

lol look at me defending Hurts

Just because they are "utilized" in the play design does not mean Hurts is throwing to it more then other teams.

There has been more inside routes thrown then last year per gm so far but Hurts still looks more to the outside routes.

Great job taking him off PIP Howie

I've researched this before. If he just makes it to another Super Bowl then then becomes a lock. Every QB in history that has played in at least three Super Bowls has gone into the Hall of Fame. Now if he wins it and has a 3rd great Super Bowl that will only further cement his case.

He could also be a good coach. Wouldn't mind him as WR coach bow that he has proven himself in coaching.

I agree you can find a gem there. But my point was to emphasize that a late 7th rounder given up shouldn't be why Howie should be afraid to cut Dalton. Instead of trying to recoup that pick, get a better player on the roster. Two wrongs don't make a right. He should eat it and move on.

1st Team All Pro for QB basically is MVP. He still has 2nd Team All Pro and there are a lot of Hall of Fame QBs that were never 1st or 2nd Team All Pro.

Agreed. That's insulting and assanine to say that because there may only be 20 legit starting QBs in the league.

The last couple of weeks make me believe that the best of Hurts is yet to come. If this damn OL can hold up in pass pro and start opening some run lanes, there is no reason they cant compete for another title. Right now, that is my main concern for this team
