That is the brutal reality of why this hits so hard today. Two overpaid DTs who get pushed around, two bad safeties, and a first round LB with bad instincts that is lost. Coop is hurt. SB year they had the talent to become dominant. Now I'm not sure. Oh, and ZB is invisible.

Eagles do not fare well to physical smash mouth offenses right now. Doubt Fangio just sits there and waits it out. Already semi benched Epps for Carter. Needs to not rotate them and see if Carter is the guy. Makuba is on a short leash til Moore is up to speed. Should have kept CJGJ in the 1st place. He was an all pro compared to these guys. I think he may slowly rotate Trotter in there soon. Can't keep getting killed like Campbell continues to in the passing game. Howie misplayed safety this offseason. FACT. Needed two safeties. Not one. Xavier Woods looked solid last night. He was available for peanuts. Having 3 good/great CBs doesn't make a secondary.

Imo think ZB is invisible cause he’s trying to do too much due to the fact he is trying to overcompensate with Campbell next to him. I get Campbell is a first round pick but at some point in time if he’s not getting the job done then you have to try trotter jr.

The problem with Campbell is he was already basically benched last year and missed out on tons of reps. He missed time during the offseason as well this year. If you pull the plug on him again, you are pretty much just giving up on him ever being something besides a backup and bust.

Howie seems to be holding that team back on a couple fronts. Let him play and see what they have before he walks in March. Cut Dalton. Sit Cam and sign Majors to the 53

That's my biggest issue. Sign a guy like that if you are taking a project TE vs a safety. Have a plan B over Epps and a kid always hurt. That doesn't mean sign the most expensive option but a low cost guy like Woods.

This guy was available for cheap. Screenshot_20260929_095717_Chrome.jpg

I’d give him a couple more weeks. i think he gets that due to where he was drafted and not playing as much after Dean came back last year. Frankly, I’d give him til after the Jaguars game. If by that time you’re still seeing the same problem or little to no improvement, then i think you need to do what you need to do.

That said, it took Dean until his 3rd year make a big jump. So I’m not ruling it out. However, I think Dean had better instincts and overall a more physical player. It could just be Campbell has the physical tools you covet but just not what they thought when they drafted him.

Carter was a good slot and they now have Moore. It makes too much sense to move Coop to safety.

Well, that was a national embarrassment (so glad I'm flying to Philly for this week's Rams game and the MNF game against Dallas since we blow on MNF). Had to watch the 1st half on a plane and on a car ride home...it got worse when I got home.

OFFENSE

  • Hurts was obviously not good, but...it's not like he had a lot of help. If we can't block anyone, it doesn't matter how open guys are running on under center play action looks if the QB is about to get murdered. The Bears blitzed every under center look and we had no answer - not once. Now part of that is we are awful at any kind of screen pass, but we also have a LG that can't block and TEs that can't block. The offense looks best (end of Titans game, last drive of 1st half) when we let Jalen play in gun and throw - we simply can't block it up otherwise.

  • The negative plays are just killing us

    • 1st drive- after 3 nice plays, we go UCPA, and...Hurts is ambushed and gets an intentional grounding

    • 2nd drive - Steen with the unnecessary hold on Barkley's 19 yard run away from him, then Tank fumbles

    • 3rd drive - Barkley and Hurts take us off the goal line, Hurts is cheap shotted, and Dalton throws a pick

      • as an aside, isn't the point of having an experienced vet at QB2 that he doesn't make a mistake like that? Dalton threw it right to the safety. If you're going to have a noddle arm, at least read a defense.

    • 5th and 6th drives killed by negative screen/swing passes to Barkley and then Lemon

  • I have to be honest, I was encouraged after the 1st half. Escaped down only 3, but mainly - we could run the ball. Barkley had 11 for 73 and had a 19 yarder called back. I thought we'd come out and seize control in the second half. Oops. Not sure how we lost the ability to run the ball in the 2nd half. But maybe a small positive - for a half, we looked like a functional rushing attack.

  • While almost every position group sucked, the WRs did their jobs. Smitty made a great catch and played well. Wicks has a TD with a better throw (low throw that was ruled a catch and then overturned). And Lemon seemed to be open down the field a lot.

  • Cam Jurgens - thank you for your service and being a warrior in Super Bowl LIX, but it's over.

  • 4th and a long 1, at your 49, down 13 points with 3:30 left in the third quarter and you punt? That was cowardly.

DEFENSE

  • Note to self - never great when someone has to be talked out of retirement. Vic got punked.

    • No adjustment to tighten coverage was malpractice - Kennum was throwing underneath, on time, all game and we never exited our shell coverage. Can't even blame the DBs that much.

  • Jordan Davis is missing in action. Yes, the first half run defense was excellent, but he's not making any impact plays.

  • Holding Jalen Carter remains legal - but, we need more from him regardless.

  • Campbell is just lost out there right now, but not sure we have any choice but to live with the growing pains. Benching him for Trotter means you're giving up on a 1st rounder.

  • Q was the only defender who came to play.

  • Yeah, Michael Carter needs to start over Epps.

All in all, the coaches didn't have this team ready to play. We'll learn if this team has any chance the next 2 weeks.

Coop and Carter at safety with Moore in the slot sounds right. I think Cooper's utility has to be explored further. Been talking about him as a safety since the draft. Also, hasn't been lights out at slot this year.

Tweets like that are incredibly annoying because it's basically declaring EPA as fact. Like "If what EPA says means that's reality." It's one metric. I'm not saying I disagree with the point made here, but my point is it's true because it's true and we see it with our own eyes. Not because "EPA said so."

EPA per drive also has the Eagles offense this season in the first half as a top 10 offense. Anyone watching the team knows even in the first half this is not a top 10 offense.

I should clarify, I don't hate EPA. It's benign, it's like any other metric. I hate people using it as a euphemism for truth.

"The Eagles' _____ is objectively good/bad because the EPA says so." No. Not how it works. You can make your case as to why an aspect of the Eagles is good or bad and then thrown in EPA as a means to back it up, but going "Yeah, the Eagles whatever sucks, they have a bad EPA there" is just being a mindless sheep. Have all football dorks lost their collective minds? When did people stop using their eyes and brains and just go "I'm just gonna state whatever EPA tells me as fact." It's draining the soul out of football discussion.

No offense, the Eagles screen game has been atrocious. So that tweet kind of details what everybody has seen every time they throw the ball behind the line of scrimmage or run screen. The EPA matches what we’ve all seen. So that tweet with EPA is very accurate. They’ve been crap all year with screens/pass behind line of scrimmage. They might be the worst screen team in the league.

Let me also point out, one of the few screens that worked was the one at the end of the first half last night to devonta. it probably worked because the bears were like they can’t be dumb enough to be running a screen with no timeouts where if they get tackled in bounds the clock might run out.

The year we got bounced by Tampa after losing all those games down the stretch, we should’ve fired Siri. Had we hired Moore. I still believe we win a SB. Siri is just along for the ride with a great roster. Same with hurts

I’ve been telling you all offseason the talent has decayed and the reinforcements aren’t good. Everyone makes fun of me.

Howie is much better at building Sb teams than he is at maintaining them.

He definitely reads the defense pre and post snap. I've definitely noticed improvement in his progressions and getting the ball out, but that INT last night made me scratch my head. I don't know if he forced a bad throw due to the situation, or he just misread the coverage. Either way, we need a run game. The fact that we're 2-1with no run game is nice and all, but I don't expect much success if Barkley consistently gets below 100 yards a game. Just look at the Chiefs. Their offense had been anemic for 3 straight seasons with no run game, but then they add Kenneth Walker and everyone's talking about how "scary" they are.

He has the second highest TTT through 3 weeks. Ironically behind only Caleb Williams. Who when he can be corralled and kept within the system by Ben is great. When he’s out there being Caleb, he’s feast or famine…usually famine.

The screen game has been atrocious. We don't need EPA/play to tell us that though. If EPA/play didn't exist as a metric would anyone think the screen game was good? We'd feel the same way about it.

Rams, Denver, and the Bears all have rookie TEs playing who weren't drafted in the first. Howie had to reach for a project.

Where was Barkley in the 2nd half?

I still can't believe this team had no real plan for when Goedert went down.

The run game and oline were nonexistent. Ertz was a great player for us but dude is old and garbage at this point

Howie not seeing the writing on the wall with DT salaries increasing and letting Williams go was a massive mistake

But he used a first on Davis and ego is a problem just like with Dalton being on the team

That fat sheet took Howie to the cleaners

Pretty sad. Stowers might end up being good but placing a 2nd rd pick on IR for the first 4 games is ridiculous
