To add to this, the Eagles defense started slow the last two years. But I would also point out that when the defense started to get going, they had guys to upgrade and replace other guys or made a trade to make the defense better. In 2024 they inserted Cooper DeJean, and that’s when the defense started to takeoff. In 2025, Dean come back then they traded for Phillips.

Eagles have trotter in the wings to replace Campbell if need be. Maybe he is or maybe he isn’t an upgrade. That’s an unknown. However safety they don’t on the roster. They can make a trade, but I don’t know who exactly is gonna be out there that also knows the system/fits the scheme. They tried out with byard and it didn’t work out well.

That screen was just so dumb that it really makes you question what the hell is going on in his head. They got so fn lucky. People seem afraid to criticize Sean and give him a pass when last night's play calling was just as bad as KP last year. I saw way too many excuses, the same excuses you could have applied to KP. I'm tired of seeing Barkley run in to 3 men and the constant TFL. We saw it last year, different OC. We have no burst to compensate for our poor OL. We're not being creative to get Barkley space. His runs looks the same.

Here's my question for the guys who know scheme and X's and O's - if everyone will simply blitz when we go under center, banking on a run or a play action pass they can blow up...why not mix in straight drop back from under center so Jalen can see the blitz and hopefully beat it?

I asked this this morning, what is the percentage that the Eagles are passing out of under center. I like to know because if you’re passing attemprs are extremely high as pair to your running attempts, then why would teams play anything other than you’re gonna pass the ball.

Greenard is supposed to be a big addition, and he had his first action yesterday coming off injury(s) and no TC... so room for improvement, I'd hope.

Still working my way through the thread but it appears not only was turning the game off midway through the third was the right call, but others followed suit.

I haven't seen so many big names come up THIS small since.... well... 80% of the Phillies games this September.

Absolutely right choice to turn it off. I turned it off after the 2nd 3 and out. Took a couple d pics and sent them to @hputenis. I'm undecided if I should go with the Texas chainsaw d for Halloween or sleepy hollow

Loved the pressure and almost sacks he got

Tbh I have more faith in the defensive line getting better. That’s the one area I think they can get improve as the season goes on. I’m not so sure I have faith in their safety position just plays better. Makuba was up and down when he played last year. he needs more time but it isn’t just him. That entire safety room is an issue. Epps is not a starter. neither is Carter. So there is a realistic chance you need not just one safety, but two. Then you throw in Campbell which you could say they have Trotter. I like Trotter. But even he is an unknown at this point. Maybe he hold up over the season and he’s much better than Campbell. He also could get more exposed when he plays.

Also on Greenard, I hope he really proves me wrong. I didn’t love that trade. I didn’t hate it, but I looked at it as why are the Vikings getting rid of this guy? Valid question. The analytics tell you he’s a very good player. Brian Flores isn’t in the business of getting rid of really good players on his defense. On top of that you had to give up draft compensation, he’s 29 years old, he’s coming off an injury and you had to give him a big new contract. To me that was a lot in there that made me not love it. I understand why they did it, but there is cause for concern to me when looking at it from afar.

Rams, Jags, Panthers, and Cowgirls next 4 games. All 4 teams can score

What’s everyone’s prediction for what the record is after Dallas? I’m going to go 3-4

I'll go 4-3. Little ambitious but I don't trust Lawrence. Then again the Panthers are no push over and the eagles like to play down to their competition

The team just didn’t execute yesterday. Every time they had something going they’d shoot themselves in the foot. I don’t think there’s a talent issue. The talent on this team is good enough to win a Super Bowl.

My hang up is the coaching. Sirianni should go be a college coach and the OCs we have that fail seem to be more interested in putting in their system than adapting to what the current talent does best.

With Hurts you have to keep it simple and get the run game going. Steichen knew that. Moore knew that. Wish we could have kept one of them as our HC

Man if this team looks listless against Dallas at home, the boo birds are going to be out. People are not going to be happy. I think coming off last season compounds it. Last season you were coming off a SB so fans were pretty patient, but after how tough to watch they were last year, if they follow that up and are a rough watch again this year the fans are not going to tolerate it this season. The team is going to hear it.

The boo birds should be out this Sunday

Howie -2 bad drafts in a row that have yielded zero dominant players. There's more than a few player who need to be replaced with significant upgrades in the off season.

Sirianni - EVERYTHING he did this game was an abject failure and an embarrassment. He should be ashamed.

Hurts - see the WHOLE field. Go through your progressions or sit on the bench. Too many open receivers are not being seen.

Fangio - ATTACK on defense. Your soft zone approach all game was an abject failure and an embarrassment.

Lurie - Light a fire under these guys. They're getting complacent and soft and it's showing up with the players on the field.

Um...I think this is bad?

Waking up after a horrible game to a leaking roof with heavy rain in the forecast and having to clean out my entire garage due to mice infestation is exactly how I wanted this week to go fml

I was wrong, he had a whopping 5 at some point.

Elijah Moore had more for some reason despite being the first time he's played this year and didn't do anything either

There are a lot of problems and they've all been discussed. It starts with coaching and roster management and down the line to execution. Cue Kelce "it's the whole team!"

The offense continues to try to blend old things that worked, new concepts and now was supposed to be an entirely new scheme but you still have old habits and Siri's game management mixed together, with the OC in the booth not next to him. The offense put some nice things together last week and then showed some signs of life at the end of the first half. Then 2nd half garbage. Hurts has his ups and downs and things he's more comfortable with. But even when he's trying to execute the new offense the O line blocking (and TEs and Barkley, he's been getting destroyed trying to block) give Hurts nothing to work with, he turns around and has a bunch of defenders in his face and then fans will look at screen shots of open receivers and complain. Hurts has no time to do anything. When the line blocks as they should, he's been standing in the pocket and delivering accurate passes even in the middle and into coverage. He also made a really, really dumb decision on that INT, what was he looking at?

Siri, Mannion and Fangio were all outcoached. The offense is still confused and not always on the same page. The defense is playing with no heart, getting bullied, and the opposing offenses are picking apart the defense and finding open receivers everywhere. Running backs are just dragging our defenders with them.

O line still has issues, but the run game in the 1st half finally got going. Then disappeared. The screens behind the LOS don't work. Nick Foles on his podcast had an idea to fake the screen to Lemon that they've shown so many times to get defenders to bite.

We expected growing pains and they should be cutting out what hasn't been working and improve what has been. You have a veteran QB that you know his strengths and weaknesses, call the offense accordingly. You have O line issues, bench Jurgens if you have to, get Markell Bell in there for some young blood, Fred Johnson, something.

The defense was supposed to have continuity and experience, and they have been bad. A 3rd round QB who hasn't started in years comes in and gashes your defense. Make some personnel changes. Put ego and draft position aside and bench Campbell for Trotter. Address the safety position whether that's DeJean at safety or just trying different combos. We'll see if Carter helps there. The D line is supposed to be the strength. The Edge players are not it. Hopefully Greenard can help as he gets more health and playing time. Hunt is a solid player but not suited to be the top Edge on the team. Hopefully Greenard helps. Nolan Smith is a JAG at best so far. They also miss Nakobe Dean.

The entire team needs a wake up call week to get it together.

Nothing like opening a drawer to a mouse jump scare to start your day.

Talked all offseason about adding 2 safeties, not just one. It was all there for the taking. EMW to draft and a host of cheaper free agents to choose from. Howie snubbed it. And should have pounced at each opportunity. Costing us games now. 1 bad safety is liveable. But 2 is not. Me and @T-1000 were begging for moves there during free agency and after. Was never penciling in Makuba for nothing. And Epps should be a 4th safety on a squad. Never to sniff a starter's job on a championship contender.

If you can possibly save a few of those mice, I can make a nice home for them 👀

Good question and the problem is that it's not complicated so why didn't they try it?

Why didn't we just try something new once the Bears built up a lead? At that points it's like why not

Positives from last night:

  • My plane didn't crash

  • The offense in the 1st half, particularly the run game, looked very good. The first 2 drives were short circuited by penalties and a fumble, then a 95 yard drive and a 67 yard TD drive. We looked good in the 1st half in TN as well, but just shot ourselves in the foot (end zone pick in TN, 1st 2 drives this week, the Andy Dalton experience). Game should have been 14-10 or 10-10 at the half (guess you can say 14-13 or 10-13 if Bears kick the FG).

  • Saying it again - the running game in the 1st half was a serious improvement.

  • On defense...well...Q looks great again. And Woolen got victimized by some ticky tack calls.

Unlike 2023 at the end when everything felt helpless, there are some green shoots here. The more I think about it, the more it's this simple - we need to clean up the operation on offense. That's coaching and execution. Being 2-1 while being -5 in turnover margin should be impossible - hopefully the turnovers start to even out.
