OFFENSE

  • Cam Jurgens - thank you for your service and being a warrior in Super Bowl LIX, but it's over.

Its a fair comment that perhaps the team knew Jurgens was close to being cooked after the Commie game and decided for its long term future, getting Kendall in at C now vs LG, was the wisest move for the franchise vs maintaining the status quo. Wonder how long it will be before Lampkin or AN Other takes over at LG if the struggles continue? Sucks for Jurgens tho

Mannion may have potential and some of the stuff they’ve done on offense has looked good, but the forced screens to Lemon are alarming and that play to Devonta before the half was alarming. Because these things are utter devoid of logic. And whenever coaches do things where there’s no rhyme or reason to it, I start to question their intelligence.

This whole nonsense is why I wanted Sirianni gone. Felt during the Niners game it was the end of an era and they squeezed as much out of the Sirianni fruit as they could get. Last season they were poorly coached all year, unprepared, mistake prone, no cohesion. This is 3 of the last 4 seasons now that they look this way.

If worst comes to worst and thus season spirals, I don’t think it would be the worst thing in the world honestly. We won a Super Bowl a couple years ago, Howie is great at retooling. You can only change so much when it comes to coaching without changing the coach at the top.

Firing Sirianni a year after winning a Super Bowl creates it's own problem. What coach is going to want to fill a seat that is that hot? Firing a coach isn't a solution if the next coach is worse or has the same problems.

Also, it is still early in the season and some of these problems can get fixed. I am not saying that the team is going to make it to the Super Bowl but let's also keep in mind that in 2024 that team got blown out in Tampa, lost in Atlanta and eked out a win against the Saints. The team has to rebound on both sides of the ball. The offense moved the ball in the first half but squandered opportunities. Maybe if they don't have to put in Dalton or the let Bigsby carry on the goal line, the Eagles are ahead at the half. Maybe they stop calling the dope screens and first down runs. Mannion may figure out how to react in situations and adjust in the 2nd half.

If they do not turn it around, I think it is easier to move on from Sirianni. He is not adding enough to the equation. I also think they should move on from Fangio. My pick would be for them to make Jim Schwartz the HC. This allows Howie to pick the offensive staff and probably to get more consistency. The team has the personnel to play his scheme except probably at edge. This team needs better edge players at this point anyway.

The year we got bounced by Tampa after losing all those games down the stretch, we should’ve fired Siri. Had we hired Moore. I still believe we win a SB. Siri is just along for the ride with a great roster. Same with hurts

Frankly in their last 11 games they are 5-6. Last game against the commanders in 2025 if you want to remove it as didn’t play starters, they are 5-5. Their wins are Buffalo, commanders (x2), raiders (last year were awful) and titans. Only team that was good is Buffalo. Lost to chargers (last year), niners, bears (x2), cowboys and commanders. i think bears make the playoffs this year their offense is capable of carrying a mediocre defense that lives off turnovers.

The concern to me is they look like a mediocre team and they don’t have the talent they did back in 2024.nap if you don’t have that type of talent then you need your coaches to coach guys up and out scheme to make up for it. They really haven’t been able to do that offensive. Fangio did last year until the niners playoff game. Frankly they’ve been mediocre to below average in 1st 3 games this year. Last night they looked even worse than a mediocre team. But they haven’t looked consistently good in a while.

To me the success you had in the past was awesome. Best run in eagles history tbh. But you need to look in the mirror and think how can we achieve success in the future. Is that with hurt and is that with sirianni. really ask yourself that question. It is very hard to assemble a roster as deep and talented as a 2024 roster. So I sit there and say to myself if we have a lesser roster, I need my coaching to elevate that roster and my quarterback to also elevate that roster. If you truly don’t think those two guys cant do it then you need to make a change. Even with the amount of success they’ve had in the past. That’s the question that needs to be answered.

As the anger subsides, taking a look at the bigger picture, only 2 teams in the NFC are 3-0 (49ers and Vikings). The Rams are 1-2 and got dog walked by the 49ers week 1. The Seahawks just lost to Marcus Mariota. And I just can't believe in a team QB'd by Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz. Giants just traded for JJ McCarthy, Washington is trash, and Dallas' defense may be worse this year.

It's wide open if we can get our crap together. Next 2 weeks will let us know if this season will be worthwhile or not.

We need to apply the RTK rule to Campbell and Mukuba. Neither started a full season in 2025, so the are still technically rookies.

We need to give them some leeway until....say...Halloween. Then we can start calling them busts.

That is all.

OFFENSE

  • Hurts was obviously not good, but...it's not like he had a lot of help. If we can't block anyone, it doesn't matter how open guys are running on under center play action looks if the QB is about to get murdered. The Bears blitzed every under center look and we had no answer - not once. Now part of that is we are awful at any kind of screen pass, but we also have a LG that can't block and TEs that can't block. The offense looks best (end of Titans game, last drive of 1st half) when we let Jalen play in gun and throw - we simply can't block it up otherwise.

  • The negative plays are just killing us

    • 1st drive- after 3 nice plays, we go UCPA, and...Hurts is ambushed and gets an intentional grounding

    • 2nd drive - Steen with the unnecessary hold on Barkley's 19 yard run away from him, then Tank fumbles

    • 3rd drive - Barkley and Hurts take us off the goal line, Hurts is cheap shotted, and Dalton throws a pick

      • as an aside, isn't the point of having an experienced vet at QB2 that he doesn't make a mistake like that? Dalton threw it right to the safety. If you're going to have a noddle arm, at least read a defense.

    • 5th and 6th drives killed by negative screen/swing passes to Barkley and then Lemon

  • I have to be honest, I was encouraged after the 1st half. Escaped down only 3, but mainly - we could run the ball. Barkley had 11 for 73 and had a 19 yarder called back. I thought we'd come out and seize control in the second half. Oops. Not sure how we lost the ability to run the ball in the 2nd half. But maybe a small positive - for a half, we looked like a functional rushing attack.

  • While almost every position group sucked, the WRs did their jobs. Smitty made a great catch and played well. Wicks has a TD with a better throw (low throw that was ruled a catch and then overturned). And Lemon seemed to be open down the field a lot.

  • Cam Jurgens - thank you for your service and being a warrior in Super Bowl LIX, but it's over.

  • 4th and a long 1, at your 49, down 13 points with 3:30 left in the third quarter and you punt? That was cowardly.

DEFENSE

  • Note to self - never great when someone has to be talked out of retirement. Vic got punked.

    • No adjustment to tighten coverage was malpractice - Kennum was throwing underneath, on time, all game and we never exited our shell coverage. Can't even blame the DBs that much.

  • Jordan Davis is missing in action. Yes, the first half run defense was excellent, but he's not making any impact plays.

  • Holding Jalen Carter remains legal - but, we need more from him regardless.

  • Campbell is just lost out there right now, but not sure we have any choice but to live with the growing pains. Benching him for Trotter means you're giving up on a 1st rounder.

  • Q was the only defender who came to play.

  • Yeah, Michael Carter needs to start over Epps.

All in all, the coaches didn't have this team ready to play. We'll learn if this team has any chance the next 2 weeks.

The no answer for blitzes takes me back to 2023 where that was a problem as well

Maybe you're looking at those Reid offenses with rose tinted glasses? There were definitely plenty of seasons where we were yelling at the TV "RUN THE BALL!" with a very inept passing game. Reid only looks like an offensive genius now due to having Mahomes. He was getting carried a lot in Philly due to Jim Johnson's defenses.

The offense was never this out of sorts under Reid. Not until his final season anyway. 7 points vs an average defense is abysmal even for crap offenses

Compounded by the fact that we're making Hurts turn his back to the defense, which is new for him. Then he turns around and guys are in his face immediately.

The run game and oline were nonexistent. Ertz was a great player for us but dude is old and garbage at this point

Barkley was 11 for 73 yards in the 1st half and 4 for 11 yards in the 2nd. The run game didn't exist in the 2nd half.

Ertz isn't garbage. Its the situation the FO and coaches put the team in.

There's zero pass catching behind Goedert, and it was a virtual guarantee he was going to miss time. Their plan was to sign Ertz off the street coming off an ACL injury and no training camp. By the time he gets into football shape and has the playbook down, Goedert should be healthy.

Pretty embarrassing. It should've been 14 points of they didn't pull qb1 out of the game to check his head. They moved the ball in the first half pretty well. 2nd half looked like a JV team against a not so good defense

We use analytics we’re analytic based organization. So they’re not gonna just stop using the analytics like EPA because we all can see it on film. The Eagles use analytics for a reason. That tweet and the EPA is giving you context of just how bad they’ve been over a half decade worth of data.

Can't even remember how many blocking assignments Ertz missed last night. I said the running game disappeared in the 2nd half

I don't think the next two weeks are going to go well and I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, but the next two games have disaster written all over them. And while it's too early to firmly plant myself in this camp after 3 games, the feeling I'm getting with this season is a feeling I've had in past Eagles seasons where they ended up going horribly wrong. But then again I had this team missing the playoffs, so I didn't exactly expect much from the team this season anyway but even I didn't see the defense being this bad. I had them around 9 wins, possibly 8 wins and I thought the defense would be good and the offense would suck. If the defense is gonna be like this all season then forget it. They'll be lucky to win 7. First and foremost the D needs to turn it around.

Fingers crossed it's not 2021 - where every decent opposing QB has a career day and the only hope for the offense is Jalen running around (which really isn't an option anymore).

Rams, Denver, and the Bears all have rookie TEs playing who weren't drafted in the first. Howie had to reach for a project.

The issue is that we have raw athletes playing positions that tend to reward more instinctive football players (off ball LB and TE).

And we’ve got a sub-par athlete struggling at an athlete position (WR).

I’ve been telling you all offseason the talent has decayed and the reinforcements aren’t good. Everyone makes fun of me.

Howie is much better at building Sb teams than he is at maintaining them.

I haven’t spent as much time in the Blog but that surprises me.

I liked Wicks probably more than anyone in the Blog and called him a passable short-term No. 2 that you’d ideally replace. Of course, that brings us to Lemon, a guy who projects best as a slot in a league that is moving more and more toward 12 and 13 personnel. Of course that brings me to Stowers, a downright baffling pick since he’s a slot WR that his own college coach refused to play in run-blocking situations.

It’s hard to get excited because the writing is on the wall that this eagles team just isn’t good enough and is on the decline.

That said, they are going to win the division. The division may be the worst in the nfl and the entire conference is underwhelming.

I thought I'd never say this while Vic has been the DC... I'm losing hope in the defense. Blown assignments, missed tackles, poor communication. Last night was embarrassing

But isn't this the learning curve we all expected and lamented about over the summer?

Mannion needs to be better. But Saleh/Bradley and Allen are top-tier DCs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see another one until we face Houston and Seattle.

Before several of you jump off the roof. One needs to remember this is a week to week league. One good team can look bad one week and one bad team can look good. Long, long, long season ahead here. A lot of underachieving taking place across the board. But there are obvious weak links here through 3 weeks of action. The question now is what adjustments are made here going forward. Also, do think Goedert missing killed us regarding the operation in using the middle of the field. He was looking real good til the injury. At this point do believe there are internal options to stop the hemorrhaging on the weakest links of our team. Which are each individually, heavily getting exploited and to the point of costing games now. Future moves to consider, especially if Rams game goes bad.

Defense:

Safety: Coop moves to safety. Carter is now a starter over Epps.

Slot CB: Moore moves in here once he gets caught up. I give him another 2 weeks of reps and to be ready for Jags game.

Linebacker: Trotter replaces Campbell. Sorry, but he deserves a shot after 2 years of riding the bench and looking good when he gets snaps. Bitter pill to swallow, but again I'm all about stopping the bleeding and this is a necessary evil. Doesn't preclude Campbell from still having a good career. Only in year 2. Dean's progress was far from linear here.

Offense:

Lampkin moves to LG and Jurgens is pulled. At last. Considered him for center, but I think Kendall looked solid again there, so don't want to mess with that. And he got good movement in the running game helping our weak interior guards in combo blocks.

Like I said. I probably give this one more week to make it a full month into the season which is the 1/4 mark to make full solid evaluations in where we are. But all of these moves should be on the table and given consideration after last night's debacle.

Howie, pay attention. 👀
