They werent as bad as people think they were in pass rushing.

Run defense most of the game was terrible. They ratcheted it up against the run after the Hurts injury and seemed to play inspired for a short while. Then seemed to give up in the 2nd half.

Pass rush was decent. Keenum got the ball out incredibly quick all night. Which is more of an indictment of the LBs and safeties in both cases. Run and pass.

Guys arent covered long enough for the would be sackers to get home. 3 DL cant plug every hole. LBs and safeties are not filling their lanes.

They're were horrible. The missed tackles and blown coverages were frustrating asf. I remember 2 or 3 throws were Keenum faced heavy pressure and just threw the ball of his back foot right into the receiver hands. Getting the ball out quick is the blueprint to eat up this overrated defense

Your dad seems to bring them luck. Awesome!

Doing this game and then the MNF game against the Cowboys - that one I bought a couple things from the EAF to surprise him.

If he had ability at edge they would have him there. Especially, with Dean being on the team last year. They have a guy who can play the position sitting on the bench. I get why they won't play Trott, but they can't have 3 out of 11 guys being lost out there. Plug a hole unless you make a trade for a safety. Then you can afford to let Campbell learn on the job.

Campbell is just 22 and not even a year of games under his belt. I'd stop the bleeding with Trotter and then see if Campbell can get in there PT and give him some snaps. Not bench him fully. Even for 10 snaps a game.

I don't watch baseball so I'll be annoyed until Sunday

The man is 82, might not have a lot more chances. We get to meet and hang with Kelce before kickoff and meet Lurie and go on the field at halftime.

Looked like Davis and Carter were doubled. Someone better make it then

It's ATL .... I'm gonna preface it by saying it's ATL ..... but I would be shocked if the Phillies win a playoff game.

Still hate the batting order, still hate the insistence on batting Schwarber at the top of the lineup where he can't produce runs -- "but he gets more at-bats" -- who gives a S?

A bunch of underperforming ex-Nationals at the top of the order and the rest of the order can't hit. The pitching staff is tired/injured/awful.

Ahhh. Enjoy the time! Hopefully they win

Maybe it's because I'm more defensive-minded and think that side of the ball has been neutered over the years with the rule changes, but I didn't have a problem with the shot Hurts took last night. Bang/bang play, with his toe barely out of bounds and the defender leveled him. That was a pretty clean hit. Have to do a better job sacrificing a few yards for the sake of your own safety and that disaster with Dalton not happening.

The one Dante Moore took on Saturday for Oregon was more graphic since he got KO'd, but I thought he waited too long to slide and gave the defender an opportunity to wallop him. It's not the defender's job to protect you, it is yours.

Mahomes was the king of taking advantage of this while tap-dancing on the sidelines and I'm glad to see defenses are standing up for themselves and saying "Yeah, you wanna do that we're just going to pepper you and be fine with the flag".

Won’t be a popular opinion but I agree. I think there’s a late hit and an egregiously late hit. I thought the Hurts hit was the former, but I didn’t believe it was egregious. It was the type of hit that if Mahomes took it, many would be pissed with the flag coming out.

He loves taking sacks. Only one I know that loves taking sacks more is @mikemack8

Hurts rolled right, had two guys chasing, and instead of throwing it away, he slid down for a sack and a loss?

I actually made a post in the Phillies thread showing that schwarber actually been significantly worse batting leadoff this year then he has hitting second. Turner has also been better hitting 1st than 2nd this year. If you’re not gonna move turner down (you should) he needs to be hitting leadoff. his entire career with the Phillies, he’s much better as a leadoff than they put him in the two hole.

I actually wanted to lineup to be this. I get it is 3 LH hitters in a row. Turner has been so bad against left handed pitching this year that having him between 2 LH isn’t change the opponent from brining in a LHP

Turner

Arraez (now injured)

Harper

Schwarber

Bohm

Stott

BDLC/marsh

Crawford/hill

Realmuto

It’s not ideal, but it’s the best line of my thought they could run out. Arraez was never a cleanup here. That’s why his statistics here are much worse than worst his career. Citizens Bank Park really doesn’t play well to hitting style. He should be hitting second and getting on base in front of Harper and Schwarber. Behind Harper is in better protection.

Here are the slashes of Turner and Schwarber hitting first and second this year prior to the last series of the year against the rays:

Turner:

1st: .257/.305/.417/.722

2nd: .218/.288/.327/.615

Schwarber:

1st: .217/.349/.422/.771

2nd: .245/.365/.576/.941
