Analytics doesn't defend the game mechanics leading to that decision. 13 points makes a big difference... because you get the ball back with just over a minute needing only 3 to win not a TD. And their play calls were not great at the goal line.

Where do you think Hurts is headed if he plays another 5-6 seasons? You'll be furious if he gets in

He ain’t going to the HOF. LOL. He’ll be outta the league in 5-6 years tbh. If there’s no contract extension here, he’s going to have a worse sunset on his career than #5 did

That was exactly my thinking. It was a 2 possession lead either way. To that point, the defense had been playing well, and I’d rather be up two scores with them backed up inside the 5 vs up two scores with them having much better field position. Definitely the right call.

The tush push at midfield was a terrible call, and they got bailed out by the Puka PF call.

This season is setting him back big time from that goal.

No it won't. Look at his numbers, they're not bad at all.

When you have the ball that close to the goal line you go for it every time. What on earth are you even talking about?

No in this case you take the 3

This is where analytics is a fail. You see the game how it's unfolding, you need to cash in the points right there. Analytics doesn't take into account emotions and the feel of the game and his the offense has been abyssal. Siri was probably told by the weasel analytic dept to go for the TD.

Analytics doesn’t care about your feelings. The Eagles getting 3 points wouldn’t have been some massive wind in their sails. It would have led to a one point loss. Whoopty doo. One play to win the game. You have to take that chance.

The analytics absolutely takes that into account.

No ish Sherlock

Hurts went 2/9 for 10 yards in the second half.

Worst decision of the year and a microcosm of their bad evaluations as a staff. Why would you replace a disabled player in LD & replace them with another disabled player who has never played the position before? That one is really mind boggling.

It's been an amazing 10-11 years under Doug and Nick. They both reached what I thought we would never attain. (Reids years were great but just couldn't seal the deal.)

Maybe our window is closing again and another change needs to be done.

I am more frustrated with one of the earlier drives with 3rd and 2 inside the 10 when the Eagles chose to run off tackle and lost 3 yards. It was the first play off tackle all day and it was too slow to develop. That should have been up the gut knowing to go in 4th. That showed me a complete lack of confidence with the interior line. Just embarrassing....

155 yards passing per game. That is some serious HOF stuff.

I remember going rounds last year with folks who argued Hurts was better than Josh Allen. I wonder where they are right now

Yeah and remember you going rounds with @olsilverhair at @hputenis ’ furry party. Glad to see you broke free

The offense sucks. We know Hurts will ant someone who will elevate an offense. The WR corps we trotted out there are a basically bottom five in the NFL. The OL is meh at best. The first-time playcaller didn’t do a whole lot to make things easy for the QB, who isn’t good enough to overcome it.

What can we actually take away from the game?

You can accuse me of grading on a curve, but the offense was good enough to get the defense a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter and put the Rams in two long fields to win the game. Yes, they failed to get the dagger, but does anybody he actually think the defense would have held on of the offense scored 23 points? Of course not. The defense utterly failed. There is no getting around it.

The offense was gifted field position on every scoring drive. First FG... came on the INT by Mukuba. They couldn't get a first down. First TD... came thanks to a long PR by Covey. Second TD... came thanks to the INT by Cooper and were gifted a first and goal on a DPI that we'd be screaming about if the call went the other way. The offense was good enough? Not even close. They didn't convert a single 3rd down all game. They were a combined 1 for 16 on 3rd and 4th down. That's not good enough in ANY game. Nah, the offense wasn't good enough by any stretch of the imagination, they were mildly opportunistic. The defense was the only reason the offense was in the position they were to be 'good enough' according to you. And they are getting very little support from the offense. The number of 3 and outs were supposed to go down. They were bad last year and the defense would wear down due to being on the field constantly. And we're seeing it play out again. The defense needs to find a way to be better... because they have their own issues, but by no means was the offense good enough to get any flowers today.
68 passing yards. 172 total yards. 0 for 12 on 3rd down. Exactly how were they good enough?

Now do win percentage, playoff record, SB record...you know the stuff that actually gets you into the HOF instead of stat compiling on garbage teams

Will Dak be a HOFer??

I think I was pretty clear.

Hurts to be successful need a solid rb, great oline, 2 number 1 receiver and a decent te. He had none of that today hence the result. He cannot elevate the game of his players and that seems to be the biggest issue.

It sure does. Math uber alles. The right call was to kick the FG, take the points and keep the pressure on the Rams. The right call was also to punt the ball on their 4th down attempts in their own end of the field... including the final drive before they lost the lead. The offense was out of horses. They had no RB left other than Will Shipley. That's not when you get your dander up and decide that this offense is good enough to convert a 4th down and medium... especially after getting nearly nothing on 3rd down. Punt, and hope the defense can make up for the anemic offense... again.

As the post said that started this, he is not moving towards the HOF, this year he is moving away from it.

numbers. lol. I talked about numbers after he throw that horrible pass to Cooper for the TD. That miracle play by Cooper boosted Hurts QB rating over 100 when it was in the 60s prior to that. You Hurts fans need to learn to watch the game and not just focus on numbers. You also tend of focus on just some numbers. Not the ones that are nowhere near HOF numbers.

i don’t have as big of problem with them going for it. 13 points may not have been enough. you’ve lost your starting cornerback. You lost Greenard, who’s your best pass rusher. Dejean was dealing with what looked like a stinger. At some point, it was going to catch up to you in this game. I think the hope was you were trying to get the game over fast before that happened. Going up 17 makes it really hard for the Rams to get enough possessions to win the game at that juncture. Going up 13 it’s still a two possession game. Heck if the Eagles defense forced the Rams to methodically move the ball down the field on that 98 yard drive, it probably takes up a heck of a lot more time and they might not have as much time to go score the second touchdown. But that drive eagles gave up 20 and 32 yard receptions off the bat.

imo that didn’t lose them the game. It definitely didn’t help they got nothing out of it. Their third quarter where they had 10 plays and went 19 yards with a 2 3 and outs and a turnover on downs. The Eagles had a chance to put the Rams away in that third-quarter. The offense couldn’t get out of its own way and fell right into the analytics that have shown they aren’t just bad but atrocious in the 3rd. then the defense had a chance to really put this game away with the rams starting at the 2 yard line. could not get a stop and allowed them to go 98 yards in just under 3.5 mins. Offense having all but one competent drive in the 2nd half and defense failing to close it out with opportunities

this team needs to be sellers not buyers

Who are we selling.

Nolan Smith was one, but he's playing better than Hunt at this point.

I would buy Nelson though as long as they extend him. This o-line needs to get back to being elite and he immediately helps you get back to that status.

Anyone else notice a step back from undercenter plays this game from the previous 3?

Seamed like they were in shotgun all game
