This right here!

The first FG was on a short field (INT) and the second FG was a booming kick from Elliot

Both their TDs were on short fields (PR and INT). One of them needed a soft call

The whole entire game, the had a grand total of 1 drive that went 40 yards+.

The way they played, this O could have been held to under 10 points. They got major repeated breaks from the D and ST for the game to be close

Yet some people in here think it was the defense's fault they lost roll

Yesterday may have been the most gut punch for Vic and his crew - they played their butts off, lost players throughout the game and handed the offense enough oppurtunities.

That 98-yard drive surprised me but then again given the circumstances - damn what a way to turn it around in 6 days.

Yesterday’s game is virtually irrelevant to me. I am much more frustrated with the overall state of the team than this game.

Let’s start with the lens through with I view this team. In my view (maybe unfair), this team should be solely judged on whether or not they are Super Bowl contenders. Period.

When Roseman started going haywire after the Super Bowl, he told us that it was his job to keep this window open as long as possible. So, I am going to hold him to that. This should still be a wide open championship window.

Now, having said that, this team is nowhere close. And yes, feel free to bookmark this post for future, but if we are talking about contender status, this season is already another lost season in what should be a Super Bowl window.

Most of you will go back and forth about whether it’s the QB or the coach. Have at it. The bottom line is this overall structure is not working. It’s compounding and getting worse.

We are not firing Howie. And I’m not sure where this will leave Hurts (I’m not going to absolve him of anything), but I know that having Nick Sirriani as your HC has led to this constant turn style at OC. And this will be a problem for the future regardless of who the QB is. All because he didn’t live up to the offensive mind that we thought we were getting. Not to mention the rest of the stupidity that comes with him.

So, as we sit here today, the one thing I firmly do know is that Sirriani should be done here.

They came pretty close to winning it - short handed and having to continuously come up with solutions to what McVay/Stafford are cooking up.

I’m not surprised the offense was egregious, but the defense and STs almost stole this game from the Rams. No Lane, Smitty, Baun was a combination before the game even started for a blowout.

Answer me this, if Sirianni were fired, how long would it take him to get a other HC job?

No serious NFL fan base would go for it. He's have to follow the likes of Doug in Jacksonville or Gannon in Arizona where no one cares.

I get people are down on Sirianni but I think some Eagles fans would be surprised to see him get a job quickly. The league knows what he's working with at QB and the compromises he has to make. The guy is a bit of a doofus at times and his personality can be abrasive, but there are HCs out there (Aaron Glenn, etc) that are way worse at their job.

I feel like Groundhog Day with this coaching rhetoric.

If you want to fire Siri because he’s a CEO head coach who doesn’t contribute to the offense (which sucks) and you want an offensive blue print guy and play caller who IS the head coach and therefore won’t leave for a promotion upon any success….then by all means argue that point.

But my God stop blaming Siri directly for the offensive product on the field right now. It could not have been more clear in the offseason that he has been neutered, emasculated, and removed from this process. This is the Mannion offense run by Hurts. Siri isn’t the common denominator because he’s no longer in the equation.

A fair contrarian argument you can make is Sirianni has been hitched to a QB he didn't draft and doesn't really fit his preferred O style. The FO has mandated Hurts onto him (as is their wont) and he and many others have done their best to make it work. Its only really now where we are looking at Hurts more critically and thinking perhaps he needs to be moved on.

A couple of other points. The last 2 drafts were known to have a lack of depth in them, so some of the issues this team and others are seeing is the lack of quality overall. Teams were drafting UDFA quality players in round 6 and 7. There is not a lot the FO can do when the talent ain't there. The FO didn't do a great job of drafting at the top and those holes are still there.

This team has been built with cliff edges in certain players contracts. 2026 was going to be a one more ride or burn it down sort of season due to that. I suspect they will burn it down unless something clicks, and the O will get a lot younger very quickly.

Then Howie has reverted back to old habits. At one time I seem to recall Howie trying to win 10 games? And then he realised no you need to aim higher and go after the #1 seed. Winning a crappy division isn’t enough.

I was merely pointing out that the division stinks too. There's a really good chance that the NFCE champ wins again with a losing record, like 2020.

Sure. But what has he done to help develop and grow the Qb or any other player for that matter? It’s him and hurts. When Siri is completely cutoff from the offense and it’s supposed to be his strength, what’s that say about him?

It says that he had tried everything to make it work with this QB and is even willing to take the back seat and let someone else try at this point. It says he has searched and searched for answers and this QB is impossible.

Right now, I believe it's fair to be critical of everything.

It starts with Sirianni, "right?" If something needs fixing, he has to prove competent in fixing the issue(s).

Then you have the face of the franchise, Hurts, telling us every week he needs to be better and that still hasn't happened.

Finally, all over the team we have so called leaders, captains --- when will we finally see leadership demonstrated during a game? Practice leadership is great, but game leadership is invisible.

My main issue with the defense is that they don’t seem to complement and play off the offense. Anytime the offense is struggling and spamming 3 and outs, they hold their own and give the offense the ball back with an opportunity. But anytime the offense puts together a nice drive, they roll over and give up points. But I do believe they’ve overall been hung out to dry by this horrible offense.

Okay. So 2 offensive coordinators did an average job with hurts, we got to 2 super bowls with him. All the other years without elite coordinators, what has Siri contributed? Chat gpt inspo speeches?

I don't know that Hurts is coachable at this point, Mannion is telegraphing what we're playing by dumping the under center passing plays, and at this point I can't really say Hurts isn't the issue any more, because another OC has removed a chunk of his advertised playbook is hard to deny and though I get Sirianni is the lightning rod, he was taken out of the playcalling equation and Mannion is Howie's guy all the way, I don't think the OC is the problem or the HC (albeit he has made some dumb situational decisions) I now think they're hostages to a QB that can only play one way and every DC on the league knows it.

You can get in a Shanahan guy, a McVay guy or an Andy Reid guy, but really the only thing that will work and get the best out of Hurts is getting a Lincoln Riley guy and play a college offense.

I've spent years defending the guy but it's clear that he just doesn't have the game for playing under center football and it's time the Eagles faced it.

First, this circular argument is tiring with people crediting Hurts for the year with Moore....

Secondly, Siri has done more than many of you realize to be able to win in spite of this QB.

I don’t disagree with you either. Hurts is garbage. But the HC is in the same boat. I’ve said it since the collapse a few years ago, Siri should’ve been fired then and when he is no longer here, he will disappear. Him and hurts have been along for the ride on some really good teams.

I just took what will likely be the last nice weather walk of the year and was reflecting on the Eagles. This nails it. Hurts has absolutely has over performed his talent level over a number of areas, but he is what he is.

You can look at the Siri/Mannion dynamic in 2 ways, The HC stepping back from the O has divorced him from some of the criticism laid at his door, but by doing it, has he let the next HC into the building? Mannion fits the archetype Lurie/Howie HC type

Blame deserves to go all around here, except maybe ST’s. The old saying of when you point a finger at someone/something there’s 3 pointing back at you applies. The O can say they left the game with the lead all day, but the fact that we weren’t up 17+ at that point is ridiculous. Just 1 remotely competent drive by the O would have made that game a blow out.

The D fell apart at the end with a patch work crew. That isn’t ideal. However up till the final drive they held a very good on paper offense to under 20 points and generated 2 turnovers.

i do think it’s very hard to play complimentary when the O literally can do nothing for them. They 100% have to do better though.

With just some more ToP (not even points), maybe the offense could’ve taken away a possession from the Rams… nope, the offense can’t even engineer a 3rd down conversion, they can’t figure out how to move the ball at all once the blitz starts… maybe some more hitches to get the ball out or verts to get an explosive if the line somehow plugs it up.

Look, the defense has absolutely had its issues, but this is exactly right. It's gotta be exhausting when the offense (especially as the game goes into the second half and later) continues to go 3 and out and not sustain any drives

Think I'm going to keep harping on this poor disabled person. Feel kinda bad. But can't be having Osama Bin Jurgens on my team. It's like keeping Kerkering on the mound and seeing him blow the lead repeatedly. It's insanity.

BECAUSE 👏 HE'S 👏 GINGER 👏

Our offense is on par with the Dolphins and Titans. Lurie must be fuming watching this.

Eagles rank 25th in T.O.P. at 28:33 per game and 28th on 3 and outs with a 73% 3 and out rate in the 3rd quarter (worst in the league).

The defense has its issues too: pass rush pressure rate is 2.8 seconds which is dead last but hovering around 10th with 40% pressure rate. Run defense is around 4.0 ypa which is middle of the pack, but total yards against is near the bottom. I don’t have the 1st half vs 2nd half splits which would likely confirm what the eyes and instincts are telling most of us. The 3 and outs in the second half are wearing the defense out. I bet the YPA against goes way up and the pressure rates start to go way down.

Just zero complimentary football being played by those two units. Special teams DVOA has been solid so far this season.

As an aside, unless I’ve missed it, I’ve yet to see some of the Shanahan/McVay creativity that utilizes C gap WR concepts to get free releases. That was one component I had hoped to see in this offense. Also don’t see quite as much motion as I thought we would see.

You can't be f'ing serious. I can't deal with a pro Nick post today. He is a POS. The more he puts his thumb on the scale the worse Hurts looks for a reason.
