It’s like pulling teeth for anything the Eagles do anything right. And if they do do something right they come up with a dumb penalty. The Eagles have been this way for the entirety of the 2000's though. Reid did it with inferior passing talent at least, but we've made offense look harder than it needs to be forever now. A lot of QBs that aren't good at easier passes that results in us having to make more challenging ones later. A lot of not throwing hot against the blitz, things like that. With that being so common in the past 26 years, you have to think it's at a higher level than just the coaches. That's too big of a coincidence.

Pretty sure even when they win a lot of games pretty much everyone else is given the credit. Everyone. A lot of 'but he's just a cheerleader'.Kinda weird that he's just a cheerleader when things are going well, but he's suddenly the biggest meddler the world has ever seen when they're not? Lol.
October 5Oct 5 1 minute ago, vikas83 said:I have no clue what we are even trying to do on offense. And I don’t think the players do either. Just some mishmash of random plays from different systems. The only consistent themes are never attempt big plays, and make sure to commit penalties.I said this two weeks ago, I think it’s way too hard to have a head coach that has his background in his offensive philosophy. then bringing an OC in his first year, first time calling place and implement his entirely new offense that your HC has no background in. then trying to mesh two different offenses together. Because you don’t want to abandon everything you had that worked with sirianni as you are trying to use it til the new scheme is down pat. Imo these two offenses being Meshed together doesn’t work. It’s too much chaos and too much to implement. He either need to Sirianni and go all in on this offense. hire somebody with more experience as HC and have him with mannion to help teach him the way. Or you have to let sirianni run his offense and it’s either gonna crash and burn or it’s gonna be good and you move forward after that making a decision on him. Like you said, they really don’t have an identity. And they try to go back back-and-forth between what Nik wants and has shown in the past and this new offense. It’s not working. You go entire halves where you can only move the ball on one out of five drives.
October 5Oct 5 My final take on the situation on offense….I’m not saying it to argue or sell anyone on it. It’s just how I see it. This is a repeating cycle since 2021 now. We’ve had Siri, Brian Johnson, Kellen Moore, Kevin Patullo, and now Sean Mannion all do the exact same thing. They come in here to run the offense, try to put their own unique fingerprints on the passing concepts while running a generally traditional offense…they learn the hard way that Hurts can’t do that…and then they retract and pivot. With Kellen Moore, that retraction sat on the backs of one of the most dominant running attacks in NFL history. Siri (when he ran the offense), Brian Johnson, Patullo, and Mannion lacked that luxury. Patullo just gave Hurts a bunch of stationary targets through unlimited hitch routes. All of them didn’t let him throw the ball beyond the sticks unless it was a rainbow along the sidelines for one of the pro-bowl WRs to track. That begs the question…what the heck happened in 2022 with Steichen? There are anti-Hurts arguments to dismiss the year…and there are anti-coach arguments for why everyone but Steichen failed him. The more OC’s we kill in the name of Hurts and the more seasons pile up in the bad passing ledger…the harder it is to argue that what we saw in 2022 was the real, repeatable Jalen Hurts if you just give him the right coaching.

He'd never get you to the playoffs by himself, but he absolutely played well when you got there?I think a bigger issue is the fact that wild card round isn't enough to get the engine started. If he started playing gamer Jalen mode as soon as he touched wild card, that'd be different. But it's usually later on in the playoffs instead, and that's not great in terms of consistency of getting there.I'd be game for clearing house and firing Sirianni and Mannion and hiring a new head coach and allow him to fill his staff with whoever he chooses. Then give Jalen an opportunity to play better under the new HC an OC. If he still played like same ole Jalen, I'd move on in 2028

With that being so common in the past 26 years, you have to think it's at a higher level than just the coaches. That's too big of a coincidence.I feel with early days of reid he neglected the wide receiver position. And it stunted what they could’ve achieved. He was still able to achieve great success, cause the defense was really good and their offensive was solid just never able to go to another level til TO. I actually think towards the middle 2008-2010 when he got maclin and desean, he realized how much wide receivers made a difference in making the offense look competent and much easier. The last two years everything fell apart from offensive line to quarterback play, and then you had injuries to wide receivers. The problem I see with the Eagles right now. I don’t think their coaching is very good. And that’s from head coach to offensive coordinator to offensive line coach to the positional coaches. Their QB isn’t an elite throwing talent that can carry and elevate guys. Hes not what Rodgers in his prime was. Or Brady. Or frankly even Allen. Not many are. So that’s not a he sucks that’s gotta understand what he is and isn’t. I would add. I think they don’t have enough talent at wide receiver. Maybe lemon gets there one day. I think wicks is fine as a number 3. However, people can disregard it or think whatever they want, AJ Brown’s value wasn’t just that he made place for you. When he was in his peak, he was one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. He was a physical freak and hard to find those type of players. So when you just trade him away and then devonta gets hurt, that is a massive loss. Not just on the production on the field, but what he opens up because he is that player.I would also point out with the amount of talent they had in 2024 and 2025, the passing offense should not have looked like we were pulling teeth. There was way too much talent for that passing offense to be as inconsistent as it was. Feels like it’s coming to a head that Qb and HC both may not be here in 2028
October 5Oct 5 Panthers look like the team to beat in the South.Saints are young and emerging but maybe a year too early - could make WC.
October 5Oct 5 The beginning of the offseason was an early sign of things to come. Just got bad vibes from it. That alone didn’t sell me on me picking the Eagles to miss the playoffs, I didn’t do that til much later in the offseason, but the offseason surely didn’t start with the best vibes. You get turned down by your top OCs, have to hire a dude who’s never done this before at any level, and each guy you interviewed ran a different offensive scheme so there didn’t seem to be any strict vision they had for what they wanted the offense to be. Which was odd. It felt so haphazardly thrown together and then they lose Stoutland and I’m like wtf is going on.And all this needs to be done every Fing offseason because the head coach isn’t good enough to run his own scheme.

Never got to pick his QB, likely to end up with a worse organization if he leaves this one. For a SB winning coach, he really got a rough draw. For that reason, I kind of prefer to move from Jalen. There's a battle that occurs after what you can actually do is established on film, and then people have something to counter you with. This usually comes after the year, and going onto the next. You could make the argument that's also what happened?
October 5Oct 5 The thing at WR…Wicks can play. His horrible timed speed, rep for poor hands, non-existent production over his career, and the Eagles’ track record of scouting the position made it really easy to completely dismiss his ability to contribute here (for me at least). Mannion knew he had something there in GB. And he’s showing it now. He’s going to cruise around a 650-800 yard clip with a handful of TDs. The criticism? When it’s all said and down, I think his productivity here will be more in the vein of the peak years of James Thrash and Jordan Matthews. Their names are dirt now, but in their best years, they put up those numbers (and then some). The problem is that half the reason they put up those numbers was targets/utilization rather than actually being a playmaker or someone you want getting those targets (or someone the defense truly accounts for).I think he’d be better as a 3rd option for tough catches in traffic with lower usage (resulting in scaled back numbers from that). Problem is…that feels like the ceiling for our first round pick. And it’s also the best utilization for Cooper. The WRs are far from the biggest problem on offense. But it’s all about depth over playmakers.

As long as one of the common denominators is gone. Then they either find success without the other one and can stay or they continue to fail and they both are gone. Either scenario is a win/win.
October 5Oct 5 I was thinking the other day this Eagles team reminds me of the 2019 Eagles. That team was apparent early on that they weren’t very good. The defense wasn’t very good, the offense sucked. They started off 2-2 like this team and eventually they were 5-7 before they won their last 4 and just squeaked into the playoffs and went one and done. Remember there was that stretch in the middle of this season where they had that embarrassing lost to the Dolphins and lost 3 in a row and everyone’s like this team Fing blows. And I remember fans were still defending Wentz then too. "He got to the playoffs with Bryce Treggs and Paul Turner starting games for them, stop being a hater!” Where anyone being honest with themselves who watched the games knew he wasn’t playing well. And remember we hated Mike Groh and Press Taylor and started to realize Doug might not be that good(turned out he wasn’t very good despite 2017).That team also two years removed from a Lombardi… perhaps coincidentally, perhaps not? Howie’s championship teams seem to have a short shelf life, but I’ll take it if we get a parade every 7 years or so.

Lol.Kind of funny that Siri and Hurts are sort of versions of each other for a HC and franchise QB, respectively. Neither is a prototype. Neither really does anything that well. And the best thing to say about both is that they have an amazing winning %.Siri doesn’t call the plays or bring a system. (He did, but has been stripped of it). Hurts is "limited” and sure isn’t your prototypical passer. He just wins. The problem is that "just wins” isn’t going to save either one of them if they aren’t winning.

I actually think Lemon will be fine as a player but nothing about him screams elite - size, speed, athleticism. He'd need to turn into a top-3 slot receiver in this league to justify the opportunity cost of a Rd 1 pick. And I think the fit with him and Smitty as your top-2 dogs is awful because of they are both smaller guys. Then he followed that up with a one-dimensional project TE who cant block when our other TEs also could not block whose arguably best role is a big slot.Bell might turn into the best pick. And this is after 2024 draft where we may have picked up 2/3 solid pieces at best again but not any impact guy.
