Hence the SB year. History repeats itself for a reason. In this case that reason is Nick. It's also the resson the best OL coach in history was tossed.
October 5Oct 5 They had a couple lucky drives against 2 of the worst defenses in the entire nfl and everyone convinced themselves that the new scheme fixed everything.Thats the only thing that changed.
October 5Oct 5 Going back to last year, this Eagles team is one of the worst offenses I've ever seen in Eagles history. And I'm including the Hoying days, Detmer days(both Detmers), Mike McMahon, Rodney Peete, etc. This team goes entire halves without picking up first downs. They struggle to even cross midfield most of the time. And notice how we've become so used to it, it's almost like someone who was once healthy getting accustomed to living with a chronic illness and not even realizing how much their live has changed once they've adjusted. I see analysts on TV going like "I really liked how the Eagles ran the ball this quarter" Not game. QUARTER. And they didn't even run it great, they ran it solidly. The bar has been lowered to such a degree, any time they do something ok they get applauded like a special needs kid who finally hits a free throw. It's so Fing pathetic.Anyway that's my rant for this morning. Factoring in the talent compared Eagles offenses that have sucked in eras past, at least they have an excuse. They had garbage rosters. We don't. Heads need to roll, we deserve better, this whole thing has devolved into a league wide joke and embarrassment.

The fact the O is broadly in the same position its been under different OCs and now schemes suggests Sirianni isn't the primary negative factor here (but is a factor as HC, don't get me wrong). It's a convenient deflection point that has had merit in other seasons, but won't wash now.If Sirianni was a POS, then why are his players so loyal to him? Anyone who has watched sports long enough can see when players down tools and want the HC fired. We aren't there yet but as HC, he needs to pressure his staff to be a lot better at their jobs as its not been good enough (we can all agree on that). The fact he's lasted the 2nd longest time under Lurie's ownership suggests your perception of him perhaps isn't the reality - they binned off Kelly when they got sick of his act. I do not for one moment doubt he is a very abrasive man at times, and that can work to his detriment. But he's hardly some drooling dummy, lucky to be there - otherwise it implies the Owner and FO are stupid for hiring him in the first place and keeping him so long.I wouldn't call him a dummy, but as a HC that has a superbowl win with 2 appearances (within a 3 year span) - Sirianni is not going to get the respect of some head coaches that have not even gotten to the championship level. Not that it has anything to do with our play this year but Sirianni does not get put in the category of great HC's who have made it to the SB. The same way people will look at Hurts 7 years from now. I'm not saying it makes sense but teams don't fear Hurts any more the same way they don't really fear Sirianni. Vic Fangio has more respect from anyone on the other side of that field each Sunday. Guys like Shanahan, McVay, Cohen and maybe even Ben Johnson get more fear and respect from a coaching level than Sirianni. This front office has created somewhat of a s*** show with how they structure things, but it started with hiring Sirianni and his limitations in the first place. Yea it got us another great SB victory. F the decision to go for it on 4th at the 2........I was more embarrassed that we carry this attitude like we've been there so don't mess with us and we can't even punch it in for 7 with what 3 tries within the 5 yard line? What a physical embarrasment at home to a team and organization who has really bullied teams and pushed them around the past 2-3 years. That is two straight weeks of allowing teams to punk us, and I'm tired of it.
October 5Oct 5 No one tells Nick this isn't the best time to go for it on 4th? Why didn't Mannion or Grizzard tell him it was a bad idea? I realize they could have and Nick ignores them but still

The old saying of when you point a finger at someone/something there’s 3 pointing back at you applies. The O can say they left the game with the lead all day, but the fact that we weren’t up 17+ at that point is ridiculous. Just 1 remotely competent drive by the O would have made that game a blow out.The D fell apart at the end with a patch work crew. That isn’t ideal. However up till the final drive they held a very good on paper offense to under 20 points and generated 2 turnovers.i do think it’s very hard to play complimentary when the O literally can do nothing for them. They 100% have to do better though. What I would say with the defence, is that once the rain stopped and Stafford could grip the ball properly and didn't have Quinyon to worry about, he took the defense apart and it didn't even look that hard.

October 5Oct 5 We can blame Nick, Knack or Paddy Whack, but here's the bottom line:We are in year seven and Hurts still can't lead receivers, still needs to work on going through progressions, still leaves clean pockets, still rolls right, etc. It's obvious this is who he is. It's obvious that regardless of who's calling plays they're dealing with a slow processing QB who's legs are deteriorating as each year passes. There is a reason that no matter who steps in the passing game is underwhelming. People want to pound their chest about 2024 - go for it. The guy threw for under 3000 yards for God's sake. He doesn't have the ability to do it consistently and needs a perfect situation to consistently thrive. How can you watch the same mistakes seven years later and still not understand this?

A rookie pressed into duty without any reps. Again, Jurgens is a one man wrecking crew and needs to be ditched ASAP. These are not normal circumstances. They competed yesterday and didn't get steamrolled with backups everywhere. And some real bad ones.

He's a guy who doesn't play well when he is uncomfortable with the OL. He is a guy who doesn't play well when he thinks the offense is BS. We know his limitations. We have also seen enough ups and downs to know he's a tool that has to be used the right way. People need to stop expecting him to be a QB like Burrows or Stafford. He's Hurts and will play like Hurts the rest of his career and the Eagles could do much worse. It's up to the coaches to put him in good spots to bring out the SB MVP side of him and Nick is unable to do that.

Lots of coaches have worked with stellar rosters in the history of the NFL, vanishingly few have put together the W-L record that Sirianni has. It's ridiculous the slating he gets off this fan base for the occasional bone head situational call in multiple 10 plus win seasons, and all the great Offensive minds that he's worked with at OC have done bupkuss in their HC jobs.

Everyone likes him, but he consistently coaches small in big moments. Shanny in SF is another one of those who coaches small in big moments but everyone likes him. McVay, at times does that, but has enough git in him when needed. Dan Campbell is a great quote, everyone likes him but comes up small in big moments. All about picking your poison isn't it? I'll take Super Bowl visits/win vs having a one and done HC like LaFleur or whoever the latest patsy HC is at the Falcons. The 4th downs yesterday felt desperate and panicked because of how badly stalled the O in the 2nd half was. If the O had moved the ball well all game and converted 3rd downs vs the blitz, different situation entirely. It didn't and its correct to lay blame at the HC for those calls, but its not out of the norm for Sirianni either. Its a mindset he wants across the team - no fear and it blew up in his face
