I dont really think they can to much worse than Hurts. There are career backups who I would expect to put up better production than we are getting from Hurts.

Houston fans who watched the playoffs last year would disagree. Hell the ones who watched yesterdays game probably would as well.

This whole thing is funny. I'm not even advocating for McKee, but everyone is saying he doesn't have it, sucks, etc over limited opportunities yet defending Hurts for the same mistakes seven years later.

Maybe it's because Hurts has 2 NFC titles, a Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP, and a borderline MVP season throughout that time so the leash is a little longer.

Bit exaggerated

Well I guess my point being considering the circumstances… He’s a unique QB (good and bad) and I think they needed his unique ability (the good part) in those games.

Yeah, I get that, but we've seen McKee for like three games.

I don't think he's it either, but everyone's so sure about it.

Can this team successfully use the left side of the field? They are extremely right handed and the opposing defense only has to worry about half the field. Blitzes come on the right side because its directly in Hurts face where he's looking.

Hurts doesn't even try to sell the play action. Its not going to work if you can't sell it.

I thought he'd be as well until the DC game and all preseason. There is probably a reason other teams wouldn't trade a high pick for him.

Yep. With the pre-season performance stacked on top of the DC game, I was out. But Hurts has been so bad, Im getting back in. Because, again, he deserves more than just the pre-season as QB3 with all the scrubs so that we can evaluate if he cant come along in the new system he hasnt played in before, and begin to resemble something closer to what we thought he was the previous 2 years when he looked amazing.

Why do we spend all offseason talking about how we will excuse some INTs from Jalen as he learns the new offense, but write off McKee immediately after a bad pre-season where he played a few quarters? It makes no sense.

Becton is a monolith, he worked in the Stout blocking scheme because he only had to maintain straight ahead blocks, in the new scheme he'd be useless because his lateral movement is nil.

So the take on here now is the best OL coach in NFL history was overrated because he had talent and didn't coach up players as well as people thought?

A couple team accomplishments, an award he didnt deserve, and an award he didnt even win... impressive!

yep. he sucked for a few pre-season quarters. Why shouldnt he get more time to adapt to the entirely new system?

Dude, you are better than this. McKee looked like dog crap vs DC the end of last year with a bad OL.

Hurts has like 3rd or 4th longest time to throw in the league according to nextgenstats

And? The OL is fine then right?

Imo I don’t think either one of them are the guys to run this system. This system is not made for Jalen hurts to succeed. This is not what he does well. You’re asking him to do something and be proficient at it with one off-season and four games. Very unlikely that was gonna happen and it’s very unlikely he’s ever gonna be able to do it at a high enough level to make this offense work at a top 10 level.

With McKee, this offensive line is bad. They are giving up pressures at an alarming rate. Asking a guy who’s a statue back there to get pummeled in this offense. either he’s gonna get hurt or gets him hit enough where he start seeing ghost out there.

Another side topic, if you really wanna run this type of scheme/system, then you need somebody better than mannion who doesn’t have much experience to implement it and be calling the plays. Which means you probably have to hire a head coach who has experience in this offense and was indoctrinated in it. Nick isn’t that guy. This isn’t his background. So asking him to do it isn’t going to work. and just because mannion minion has other assistant coaches and some positional coaches who run this offense. Does not mean they are competent enough to help a guy who is very little experience as a coach.

We saw Case Keenum throw darts with pressure immediately in his face after not playing for three years.

Hurts can't be expected to do that, guys. That's not fair

Morons always love the back up

Sorry. Multitasking and honestly thought I added that in lol

The Oline is rightfully getting blamed because of injuries but he has had time to throw the ball compared to other QBs

Examples like the play I argued yesterday and then Foles talked about show you how Hurts is making the OL look worse than it is.

Everyone in here thougth Hurts was cooked on that play and there was nothing he could do.

Upon further review, as Nick explained- Hurts should have had that ball out, and the pocket actually still looked clean.

Yes, there are plays where Cam is absolutely walloped immediately, and there have been some blitz pickup issues. But the QB can and should be doing something to help that situation, but Hurts is not. He is needing way too much time to throw stare at the receivers.

It was good to see Coop get back into ballhawk action, I don't know if it is lack of defensive leadership but Coop seems less animated on the field.

Makuba INT return - god that kid is small LOL

Covey had a nice return - is it me or do fans want to see a different KR other than Shipley? We need a Turpin.

Elliott was solid on his FG's, in sketchy weather.

He’s been bad…very bad, but hurts and the OL have been in a complete symbiotic relationship. For the most part the OT play has been very good. We’ve gotten decent interior play from time to time. When that happens hurts is normal hurts backpedaling into the outside rushers instead of taking the room given to step up. Then we’ve seen horrid miscommunication and breakdowns on blitzes with half the OL looking lost.

Hurts is essentially leading or at the bottom of the league in time to throw (depending on how you want to interpret that). It’s honestly hard to tell if that’s because the OL is horrid, he’s been that bad or it’s a combo.

It's likely a combo because them being bad, leads to him not trusting the protection even when it's decent. The only sack he's taken that I was completely upset with was the one that essentially ended the game. The one time I wanted the clock in his head to go off, he held the ball forever and got hit instead of just tying to put the ball down the field and giving Cooper a chance to Moss a guy a second time or Lemon to get a contested catch, which he excelled in doing in college.

Set the sights on Siri, set the sights on Howie now. Anything to deflect from our horrible QB. This is why he is rightly considered a coach killer. New OC every single year of his career. Thats not a detriment to him. Thats a symptom if the disease that he is.

You do realize some of those OCs became head coaches right? There is plenty to get on Hurts for. You go at it from all the wrong angles. This is very disingenuous.

People arent giving enough credence to fact that a ball coming out on time will dramatically reduce the amount of pressure it would look like teams are getting on McKee. He wont get hit as much as people think. Because they are seeing the OL get made to look worse by Hurts staring at WRs all day long and then tuck it and run like an idiot. Real QBs wont be doing that.

Yes we can put in Cole Payton.

This would be funny if it weren't in an Eagles uniform. This one play shows to you that indeed, Jurgens can longer move laterally to those who have asked on here. This isn't about mental processing. He looks like a cripple bouncing around here. Poor guy.

Yes I do. And he will get Siri fired, and he will get another HC job immediately.

Hurts doesnt kill their career. He gets them fired form his team. Cause everyone else who knows ball realizes those coaches can still coach and Hurts sunk them.

The 2 guys who got promoted got it because everyone knows it was a miracle that they had success in spite of the QB. Moore had to abandon the passing game and let Barkley take the team on his back.

Agreed. Troy or Buck mentioned it before that he's missed open receivers and Brady mentioned it as well. Cam needs to be benched but Hurts is still not doing well
