Huh? The fact that Nick Sirriani has shown that he can't call plays is why we have a OC carousel. He was so bad that he handed the duties to Steichen and named himself a "CEO Head Coach".

I thought everyone knew this lol.

This argument is invalid, unless you can demonstrate then why defensive head coaches do not all lose their OCs after one year, since they can't call offensive plays either? And you can double on that for John Harbaugh.

Siri can win 2 more games this season and they won’t fire him, they might fire him this time next year if it’s the same but he def earned the right to one bad losing season. Every other coach that has never won anything gets that leash pretty much.

If the season continues at the rate it's going I guarantee you he'll be fired. There is no chance Lurie will keep him on board. Lurie gets in front of things when he feels they're trending in the wrong direction. He just did it with Doug.

I'm saying people going after Hurts today are missing the bigger issues. Flat out.

That for once Hurts doesn't have the best line in the NFL and that if he does have the best line in the NFL again, things will be fine? I don't think anybody who likes Hurts or doesn't like Hurts is defending Jurgens. Jurgens hasn't been good and I'm pretty sure the only reason they're still giving him time is because they moved him to an entirely new position.

Me and you are on the same wave length that this one issue can not be talked enough. And there's a guy in the bench who is a stud at pass pro and very good at pulling in the running game. An athlete. It could change a lot in this offense, IMO. Will he be overwhelmed with power at times? Potentially. But his technique is elite where he can buy time. Right now they are going thru Jurgens like a matador.

So, help me understand your position.

You are defending Sirriani and believe that he should stay?

Is this a nobody wants to play with Hurts and he is limited as a QB post? If so awesome. He's the QB for a few more years. There are no better options. On the other hand the right OC can win a SB with him while 25+ other starters OCs would love to coach haven't come close.

You must have forgotten considering it's been so long, but Doug literally fired himself.

The personnel on offense is not good. Jurgens is awful. The WRs have depth but lack playmakers. We don’t have TEs.

Hurts is a bad passer who can’t fit an offense that leans on the pass. He can be an opportunistic and clutch passer in a run dominant offense.

All of this can be true. There is this tendency to wrap it all into one sacrificial lamb (Patullo last year) so that we can feel better at night with a sense of hope that it’s an easy fix.

Do people need to say a disclaimer when they complain about Hurts?

Hurts had a bad game (but Cam sucked more)

I'm curious how people on one hand say receivers were open all game and Hurts missed them and then say they don't have playmakers?

Yeah, I think they need to **** about four larger things before Hurts sucks as a QB.

It's not, I made a post about it before. I was pointing out that coaches in the NFL watch actual film unlike us peasant couch watchers and they would actually see any issues with Hurts and understand how impressive the work was when the Eagles are successful enough to win a Super Bowl, when combined with a coaching interview. Just trying to disprove that point that I've seen regurgitated ad nauseum even though it doesn't make any sense because defensive head coaches exist.

He didn't literally fire himself, he figuratively fired himself. Lurie still had to fire him. He did. And he's going to do the same with Sirianni if this season continues on this path.

Please don't evade the question. Do you have actual reasoning to show why what you claimed doesn't apply to DCs and Harbaugh, or don't you? Let's finish this before moving onto whatever else you're asking.

@Mike030270 NSFW

But here ya go...exactly this...Hurts didn't have a good game, but anyone who expects a QB to look comfortable and play well with this happening is ridiculous.

Smartass. I'll give you points for at least trying to make it smooth, but the obvious point is that he wasn't going to fire Doug until he decided not to change a damn thing. LOL

Turn and throw to the receiver

Again. Snap and throw the ball

The biggest problem the eagles have moving forward is dead cap. Thats where Howie needs to work some magic.

Too many players currently being paid for what they did rather than what they will do.

Lane Johnson, Barkley, Jurgens, Dickerson, and Greenard…the cap space their contracts eat is worth more than they are.

Carter and Davis…they aren’t playing up to their deals but at least that has a chance to change.

The Devonta, Mailata, and Baun contracts are fine. Outside of those 3, the whole cap is tied to declining and soon to be useless offensive players or DTs. They need to wipe the slate clean of those obligations.

Assuming that this dumpster fire continues, it's my belief that they will move off of both Hurts and Sirriani. At least they should if they're smart.

Wrong or right, if you move off of Sirriani but not Hurts, then you will significantly limit your options for the future coach. No matter what side of the Hurts debate you fall on, this is not debatable. The top candidates will not hitch their fate to him. Yes, there's potential upside, but way too much risk.

If you move off of Hurts, but keep Sirriani....well, then you are continuing the OC groundhog day. Starting over every year with a new offensive system will never be a formula for success. Not to mention the rest of the stupid distractions that he brings to the table.

They both will have to go.

Agree that if Sirianni goes Hurts goes.

Not necessarily the other way around though.

You are full of crap. He will get drilled doing that. He just planted his foot and a guy is in his face. If this was one play maybe, but when a QB has been running for his life all game he's not going to be comfortable enough to make that throw right away. Also, that's never been Hurts, so stop expecting it to be or complaining when it doesn't happen.

I don't really agree with this, he needs more time than that. I think Jalen absolutely shouldn't be judged only by him having more time than anyone else in the league, but he needs more time than that. Couldn't even finish his drop.

Look at where he's at and how far he drops back before wanting to throw the ball. He's on the 30 and drops back all the way to the 25 before he wants to throw. Simple temporary solution is to shorten the drop back
