I wish Hurts release on the football field was as quick and accurate as he is now with throwing his coaches under the bus.

Not directed at you, but I wanted to ask when was the last time an offensive minded head coach was asked to change his entire scheme/system in year six as a head coach? I get it if it’s a defensive minded coach and they lost coordinators. The Shanahan, the McVey’s, the lafleur, the Reid’s and guys who have been there for over a half a decade aren’t changing their entire philosophy and system. They will add to it, and they will evolve it. But their core principles and the system isn’t entirely brand new to them. They just enhance and advance it of core building blocks

So i ask when was the last offensive minded HC in year six of being a head coach with his team has completely changed his entire scheme, system and philosophy? Also, how did it work out?

The rule of thumb is an O focused head coach runs the scheme he was hired for until he leaves and you build the O roster for that. They may adjust concepts based on the players they have/new trends but the core will stay the same. You hire a WC coach, your O is based on the WC - you don't suddenly change to go all in on Air Coryell for "reasons". Its antithetical and needlessly creates friction through one side of the team - OL who all learning new stuff at the same time, etc

Being truly conspiratorial, the season has been setup to ish or bust for the HC and QB. If one or both can't adjust, they are gone, and they have draft capital in 28 to do what they like to reinvent the O on rookie deals.

So is Hurts now the toxic player? ph34r

And our mobile QB doesn't want to run anymore

He had a calf injury so I'm not sure if that was part of it but he said something in his interview that made it sound like it's not his choice.

KP doing even worse.

Toxic? Nah. Cowardly and disappointing that the supposed elite intangible top-flight leader has turtled into self-preservation mode? Yes.

Coaches tell players what to run and what to do. Yeah. Part of that position is having an OL capable of blocking. They had like 6 yards the entire second half for a reason. But we heard even last year that coaches were telling him not to run. You mocking him for not going rogue is peak anti Hurts TATE the past few weeks.

They have no QB and are trying to lose. Kind of remarkably stupid that he took that job knowing he had to rehab his image and should have taken the year off.

Well, that KR TD was nullified by a penalty. The other kick returns that actually counted, none were returned for TD's, and none crossed mid field.

In regards to the two best playmakers, I assume Barkley is one of the two, to which I was going to retort that everyone wanted him benched for Bigsby, or was Bigsby going to be the answer?

@vikas83 i have questions! They obviously do everything for a reason.

  1. Lane played 3 games before retirement. If he stays on the roster, does he get paid out for the season? (That may not change the cap hit, but I’m just curious if he gets paid).

  2. I assume this is a mechanism to distribute the cap hit over more years and file the retirement after 2026?

  1. Almost all of Lane's 2026 comp was an option bonus - $15.655 million, earned already and likely half paid so far. Likely they will get some of that back and get a cap credit, but it's tricky with someone like Lane. Remember the Lions got a singing bonus back from Calvin Johnson and it tanked the team's relationship with him. This is different as it is an option bonus, not a signing bonus, and it is used in lieu of a larger salary. Lane's salary is tiny - $1.345mm vet min. He will be paid that since he is still on the 53, but again - all subject to negotiation. I'm assuming they will reach a cordial deal on some return of money.

  2. Yes, this is so they can file the paperwork after 6/1/27 and spread the hit over 2027 and 2028. $16.6mm in 2027 and $26.3mm in 2028, but those will be reduced by the $$ he gives back.

The Dolphins OC is Slowik not Patullo

What he said as a whole I see nothing wrong with it.

It was clear this week from film study they hammered into him that there is clean pockets. He needs to stay and use it for the time it’s there and throw with timing. He was pretty successful the first half with that. It was awesome. Then the second half the jags brought the house with pierce being the feature back. Mannion didn’t adjust it seemed and hurts got sloppy with mechanics trying to stick to the plan.

Blocking wasn’t good enough on a lot of plays for him to run upfield….and clearly he went into the game with the message to not back pedal and roll from decentish protection and ruin timing. The OL def has to be better creating lanes for him if you expect him to run. Not just give him a mediocre bubble for 2.5-3 seconds.

Or....he is tired of the clown coaching the team like most of us. He wants to win and he has a coach who just blew two games in a row with his decisions.

It didn't start this season. He ran less last year with the report that he wants to run less

Can you give me the link to the article where Nick and KP told Hurts not to run. Because that's the opposite of the report last year that Hurts wants to run less last year

NFL no longer has players file retirement paperwork. It is all done with roster designations. He has to stay on the roster until the new league year starts next March, and then they will move him to the reserve/retired list with a June 1 designation. The practice of filing paperwork stopped in 2008.

Btw... people won't want to hear it but AJ Brown was right.

He may regret picking the wrong team to go to, and maybe could've handled the situation better, but about the Eagles he was right. This offense sucks, is broken, he knew it, and he wanted off a sinking ship and got off just in time. I think both parties will be better off for that trade, the Eagles will need that pick to rebuild a declining team and roster.

The calf injury would explain this past game. However, there was an article last year, saying he doesn’t wanna run as much. And then the number is kind of followed suit that he wasn’t running as much. I tend to think this is more of a decision by him because him running had led to more injuries later in the season and him missing time.

What would he be right about? He just wanted his stats and didn't really care if we were winning

Tbh he may not ever have gotten another chance to be an OC. So becoming pass game coordinator in Miami might have been the best opportunity he could get. Frankly, if Miami would’ve just been average or slightly below as a passing game, it makes him look somewhat better simply because everyone expected them to be horrible.

Ok that makes sense now. Sirianni was banking on the last kick return to be nullified by a penalty. That's why he decided to kick it to them. Makes sense

Eagles defense the last 3 weeks have played 72, 84 and 72 snaps. Not counting penalties. If they don't fix this second half offense problem the D is going to eventually collapse.

Well it's their fault we're losing all these games in the 4th quarter

Maybe he did want to win and knew this offense would eventually hold the team back from winning.

I stated in my post what he was right about. The offense being bad and it holding the team back.

I was pretty vocal about losing his productivity and the whole situation. I actually thought he'd be happier with the new OC but it's clear it was deeper than that
