October 12Oct 12 Why didn’t we use our final TO to try and ice the long snapper and force him to make not one but two clean snaps? We called a TO before the Jags were even set. Little things like this that we don’t try and use to our advantage. Horrible coaching from Sirianni and Clay. The guy didn’t make one decent long snapper on any FG all game!!!!!!

Mannion does get the blame for implementing a run scheme that is relying on players ill-suited for their roles. I also think Mannion does not understand the nuances of the scheme enough to know what little changes may be needed to fix issues.

You need to get an head coach who either has HC experience or been a OC with experience has learned in it and fully embraced in it. Asking a rookie OC with no playcalling experience to implement all of it with assistance who were cast offs from other places wasn’t going to work out well especially not year 1. Nick has no background in this offense. So he’s not able to help them because he doesn’t know this offense. So if you want to run this offense, then you probably have to fire Nik and hire somebody with more experience than Mannion that can implement it and knows this system.Secondly, we are four seasons removed from 2022 where Jalen hurts looked great as a passer. We have gotten worse as a passing team each consecutive year since then. Sadly same 2023 issues appearing again with the blitz. We can say some of it is injuries this year, but it didn’t look good prior to the injuries. Some of that was going to be growing pains. but there is a reality that Jalen hurts is not a fit for this offense. His skillset is what it is. if he’s not gonna run anymore then it really diminishes what his overall skillset is. This offense really does things he hasn’t proven he can consistently do at a high level besides 2022.I do agree with Louis Riddick, if you had this system in place for multiple years, it probably somewhat easier for him and not this bad. But I don’t think he’s ever going to master it. Say whatever we want Brock Purdy has looked good with San Francisco running shanahan’s system. even Brock Purdy has his flaws and they showed up even yesterday. But he’s a fit for what Shanahan wants to do even with his weaknesses and flaws and the maximize his ability in that system. This is not the system that will likely do that for Jalen. It doesn’t play to what he has shown in the past he can do at a starter level. So if Howie and Jeff wanna run this system, have to start making a determination on sirianni and hurts as both are unlikely the guys that bring you the most success in it.

I understand the rationale to fire him. But they integrated a brand new offense in which he has had ZERO exposure to in his NFL career. He may call the timeouts. He may give the pep talks. He may be the idiot that didn't have the kicker put it through the end zone. It's just not productive or even remotely introspective to just blame the offense on Sirianni again. He's just not running the show here.
October 12Oct 12 Unless they want to see Sirianni and his offense (whatever that actually is) with a new QB (I'm frankly not that curious and I don't think they are either), then Siri has to go in the offseason. That's why, for self preservation, Siri kind of needs grab the reins and plug in Mckee. As I said before, I think Mckee sucks and will fail...but that's the only scenario where Siri saves his job after showing a brutal contrast in there with a different QB. Otherwise, he's outta here.I'm growing nauseous of the process of watching Hurts with a new play caller every year as the establishment here blames everything on last year's play-caller. It's literally a vertigo-inducing cycle at this point. But we are probably going to get it again next year with a new head coach.

He might not have experience in running this style of offense, but are we saying he’s that dumb that he doesn’t understand multiple concepts of running an offense? If that’s ultimately what it is, that he’s not capable of looking at tape of other teams and taking stuff away from it at an offensive level to the point where he’s not capable of giving input or corrections…let alone helping a first time OC navigate through processes, he’s even more to blame.
October 12Oct 12 Waking up earlier today and I find it hard to be that mad at the kickoff even though I think the decision was the wrong one they made to kick it short. Yesterday's loss was karma. The Rams loss was karma. There's almost like a masochistic satisfaction where I feel like the sports gods are looking at the Eagles and going "No no... F you, we aren't going to let you back your way into petty little wins without being able to move the ball and score points. Find a way to score some Fing points or we're going to give you a 6 win season."This team deserves everything that has happened to them so far this season. A bad offseason, laughable roster managament making a mockery of the bottom of the roster carrying 4 QBs for weeks, a terrible offense that they've had no clue how to fix for years. These results are the byproduct of all of this. It is 100% deserved. So I can't get that mad about any one play in any game.

October 12Oct 12 FWIW, Hurts is going to have some very good games and moments upcoming this year that flip the narrative upside down all over again. We all saw that Cooper pass and that game winning drive against Tennessee. But the worst offenses in the NFL (and that's now us) still score touchdowns here and there. Those sparks arent a sign of how it's going to be all the time if they just keep bashing their head against this wall. I'm not saying they should do anything but continue to wait it out (this year). But still...the signs of progress just arent there.
October 12Oct 12 Look, I'm obviously in the blame Hurts camp. But Mannion's judgement needs to be sharply questioned right now. He chose to come here. He knows who the QB is. He knows what his system is. If you blame Hurts, then you really need to question Mannion's IQ with this. And if you don't blame Hurts, well, then you already have a very low opinion of Mannion.

He may be the idiot that didn't have the kicker put it through the end zone. It's just not productive or even remotely introspective to just blame the offense on Sirianni again. He's just not running the show here. Two things: first I never understood why the Eagles didn’t hire a senior assistant to help Mannion. He’s a first year OC who’s never called plays. Furthermore the guys he hired as assistants anre all guys that got canned from their previous job. Gizzard got fired by the Buccaneers. Kuper basically fired from the Vikings. Neither have a boatload of experience as an OC or calling plays or implementing an offense. They are limited in how they can help. Furthermore a senior assistant with knowledge of the offense and with years of experience in the nfl could help with growing pains. They didn’t do it and Sirianni’s background in the offense and lack of play calling as well limits how much he can be of service to Mannion. Second, the issue is more if you wanna run this offense and get the most out of it and implement it the right way, it’s not Sirianni or a rookie OC with no experience who’s going to do it for you. The offense is not Sirianni’s philosophy or offense. So asking him to do it isn’t gonna work. Mannion is in over his head because he’s a rookie OC who’s never done it. He may know the offense but he’s has never had to actually implement an entire system and offense. while doing so in one off-season. That’s a big problem. Ultimately if the Philadelphia Eagles want to run this system, then you have to marry it. Which means getting yourself a head coach that embraces it, knows it, understands it and will implement it properly and live by it. Unfortunately for sirianni that’s not him. He doesn’t have the background in this system to do it. If you’re gonna ask him to learn this system 6 years into his head coaching career and into decade plus career in the NFL, it will likely not go well. So you either gotta find that head coach or you gotta run what he wants to and watch it either succeed or crash and burn.

Sometimes he’s a coaching tree factory, sometimes he’s bringing in (or back) people to refresh his view. Siri did it with Moore….to very mixed success but ultimately won a SB. To be an offensive minded HC and not having a basic grasp of concepts outside your ‘box’ is absolutely inexcusable. There’s a trend of going young and upcoming with HC hires the past 10 or so years. Theres almost been a complete reset on the traditional what tree does this guy hail we were used to 10-15 years ago. So ya, the examples are going to be a little less concrete.

October 12Oct 12 A couple weird things to me after the first 5 weeks now.In pre season they looked like the scheme would work with the backups and running the ball well like the carson Steele game and even shipley ran well. I know they were against back ups but it looked like the scheme can work. The Pittsburgh straitjacket game. We have seen hurts can sling the ball. Is this still the win the turnover margin and we win the game talk vs letting him take risks. Reason I wonder this is it seems watching other teams they allow their QBs to take risks and yes sometimes it doesn't work like the bears vs packers yesterday and the 49ers Seattle game where both had a bunch of turnovers.I've always felt like they do well in the 2nd quarter really and then like dial it back in the 2nd half and try to hold onto whatever lead they have and skate by

I get it if it’s a defensive minded coach and they lost coordinators. The Shanahan, the McVey’s, the lafleur, the Reid’s and guys who have been there for over a half a decade aren’t changing their entire philosophy and system. They will add to it, and they will evolve it. But their core principles and the system isn’t entirely brand new to them. They just enhance and advance it of core building blocks So i ask when was the last offensive minded HC in year six of being a head coach with his team has completely changed his entire scheme, system and philosophy? Also, how did it work out?

He can’t be expected to succeed. If mannion was brought in and interviewed to marry systems, innovate processes and work hand in hand with Nick during the week to prepare the O for the team. Then it’s bad on Nick that he can’t despite game day keys being handed to Sean, help him navigate through processes because he’s incapable of understanding another system. A system he helped interview and hire Sean for. I lean more toward the symbiotic relationship side. I don’t think Howie and Lurie told him to go sit in the corner and color while handing the lambo to a dude whose ink is still drying on his license. Either way it all boils down to he can’t adapt. That’s the core issue.
