the thing with overvaluing/overdrafting QBs was that if you hit, it was a HUGE win to have a franchise QB for the next 10+ years. 

I wonder though, with Luck retiring early and now some top guys forcing their way out, doesn't that change how you look at the draft and what you are willing to put into the position?  Maybe not quite yet as teams are thinking "that won't happen to us" but I don't think that genie is going back in the bottle any time soon.

Wilson is basically a nickel LB who was forced into a starting role, he's a one year patch while Taylor and Bradley learn.

Doesn't preclude taking a LB, Edwards and Singleton are primarily run stoppers with limited coverage skills.

Only position where they lack the stop gap veteran is CB, Slay & ???

"Dallas Cowboys longtime owner and GM Jerry Jones is 'infatuated' with Florida Gators tight end Kyle Pitts. Pitts, widely considered the best non-QB talent in this draft. The Cowboys currently have the No. 10 pick in the 2021 Draft, but Mortensen believes that Jones could trade up to select Pitts to join the Cowboys as another offensive weapon for Dak Prescott."

kind of hope atlanta takes him at 4 (doubtful) but i imagine the cowboys want to move up ahead of carolina whom i think go pitts is Sewell is off the board.

Ughhhhh.   My draft nightmare is Dallas getting Pitts.  i don't care if they ignore defense again in the 1st round if it means they get Pitts.  Good luck covering Cooper, Lamb, Gallup and Pitts.

Pitts to Dallas makes zero sense. They'd have to trade with either Atlanta or Miami because Mike Brown doesn't trade in the draft. Cincinnati and Miami are basically locked in on Pitts/Chase. Dallas would give up a bounty of picks to trade with Atlanta FOR A TE.

There’s only one ball, and winning teams aren’t constructed that way.  Cooper would get very frustrated with less touches, Zeke would disappear even more than he did last season, and it would hinder Lamb’s development as a weapon.

Atlanta would make sense to trade out. They put out there they’d like too. However dallas would be dumb to move that much to move up to four for a guy in that offense that would be a tight end. Then again it’s Jerry jones so i wouldn’t rule that out.

You don't want elite talent wherever you can get it?  I haven't seen anything in Cooper that tells me he's a diva that needs the ball.  CeeDee is already a weapon, I don't see how it would hinder him one bit.  Zeke is an afterthought to me anyway.  Tony Pollard is a heckuva running back so if Zeke goes missing they have a more than capable back to pick up the slack.  

So the Eagles have one ball and we have to decide who of Reagor, Ward, Hightower, Watkins, JJAW, Sanders and Goedert.  I'd much rather have the problem of too many good players to decide from than what the Eagles are trotting out there on Sundays.

It'd be dumb by any standard, even grading on the Jerry Jones curve. You're talking AT LEAST a future 1 just to move up for a TE.

I've said this numerous times over the last year but I love college football.  There are college players I just love watching play the game.  CeeDee Lamb and Kyle Pitts have been 2 of my favorite players to watch over the last 5 years or so.  I hate seeing players I love go to teams I hate.  I loved watching Saquan Barkley too.  I hate that just as much.  These are all guys who are going to be great pros too so that means wanting to see players I like continue to play well for Dallas and NYG.

It's not so much I care who the Cowboys get vs. players I like going there even though I hate when any team I hate gets elite talent.

They have a broken down OL with Tyron Smith on his last legs.  Frederick is gone, Zach Martin is the only OL they had last season who played worth a damn.  Their defense is garbage from a talent standpoint.  LVE is constantly injured and looked terrible last season before going out.  Jaylon Smith is nothing without a healthy LVE.  Diggs was very up and down at CB in his rookie year (not surprising at that position, but) the jury is still out.  They leaned on Randy Gregory last year.  Demarcus Lawrence seldom shows up in big games.

They need big time help at OL, DL, DB .... drafting yet another pass catcher doesn’t transform them from an 8-8 team with Dak leading the NFL in passing into a contender.
