Just wait till the season starts.  You'll be hearing the C word quite a bit along with daily updates.

That’s fine because there will be actually new things to discuss.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Right....like how DK and Justin Jefferson are doing as well.

Minor correction, it is 46.9% in the second half.

Noted. I'll fix it.

Clearly I'm making it up so I'm sure it'll get thrown out and disregarded lol

Fact is Nick Foles didn't show anything more in his rookie year than Hurts did.  But hey Foles is a god to you meanwhile Hurts has no chance to succeed.

Foles literally drew a play in the dirt to win his first game as a pro QB and showed a few flashes on a team that was exponentially more dysfunctional than the mess we had the past 2 seasons.

Hurts got an * playing against Taysom frigun Hill and had one play (his strike to Alshon) that made me go...ok, that was nice.

I don't want the kid to fail, but there is very little to be excited about other than him being a Tyrod Taylor type of player long term.

Speaking of Taysom Hill, gadget player extraordinaire, completed 72.7% of his passes in his first 4 starts.

Not bad TBH.  It's like Jimmy Rollins with the Phillies.  Mention his body of work as being overrated and homers get so bent.  It's funny.

Rollins is a harsh comparison in what you're getting at here.  I'd comp Rollins to Ertz.  You mean Chase Utley?

So it's all out there, let me address this one final time and I'll even include numbers, again. First and foremost the original person who brought up Josh Allen was you, as seen below:

That was in response to me bringing up the many flaws with Hurts that cause concern. Trying to prove a point, you foolishly brought up Nick Foles. We'll mostly ignore that, but you want to call me a "hater" and you're the biggest Nick Foles hater on the board and have been banned. Irony.

Not a single time did I say that Josh Allen was drastically better in the second half of his game (as you accused me of in the first post). What I actually said was the following:

Pay attention to the bold. For the millionth time, here is the numbers break down:

Jalen Hurts (as a starter) from the first half to the second:

Saw his completion dip from 59% to 46%

Passing yards 555 to 506

TDs 5 down to 1

INT 1 up to 3

QB RATING 105.3 to 55.2

Y/A from 8.4 to 6.2

Rushing attempts increased in the second half, but his YPC went from 8.8 to 3.6

Now for Josh Allen:

52.94 to 52.69 for completion percentage

Passing yards from 969 to 1105

TDs from 4 to 6

INT from 5 to 7

QB rating 67.7 to 68.1

Y/A 6.3 to 6.6

Rushing attempts stayed roughly the same, but his YPC went from 6.5 to 7.6

Now, because I know you'll bring it up, the same concept is largely true for his first four games. I used pro-football-reference for the numbers. Feel free to fact check.

Let's review:

You initially brought up Josh Allen. You mentioned his completion percentage for his full year. When I brought his numbers up and proved you wrong, you shifted to the first four games. When I once again said the numbers support what I said during is first four games you ignored it, tried to change the argument and resorted to calling me a hater.

Now you're accusing me of never actually posting information, trying to convince the board that I'm some liar (as if anyone would take you of all people seriously) and you're putting words in my mouth and telling me that I said Allen got drastically better, which as you can see above is false.

You have the numbers above. You have the reference so that you can check. You have the actual posts of what was said showing that you're unsurprisingly a liar and a troll.

Don't ever try to tell me what I said or accuse me of making things up again. Go back under your rock.

In fairness to Hurts, Daboll is a much better OC than Hurts had last season.  I do think they struggled to play call effectively.  I do think Hurts was limited in his ability to make certain throws and reads.  Now, I don't know if this means Hurts cannot improve.  I think any rookie QB will improve from one year to the next.  I am hopeful that he will show real signs of being an NFL QB.  I just don't have high hopes.

I think there is some generalization going on.  In college, Hurts was a one read and go QB, but he could read progressions albeit slow on pulling the trigger at times.  Last year, by the time he got into the lineup, the offense pass protection was pretty much run for your life.  So I don’t read a lot into his play as a pro. He was good enough to start two years at Alabama and a year at Oklahoma, two top ten college programs.  Frankly, I am not sure what we get in Hurts.  I know when he has the time, his placement is pretty good.  I have been begging for a QB that leads his receivers for decades (since Jaws). Hurts does that very well at times.  In a short, quick throw offense designed for YAC, he may thrive. (He has to speed up his delivery a bit - so did Foles, who was worse at slow delivery; and he needs to improve his middle of the field throws, where his height can be an issue).  He needs to protect the ball better.  In college, interceptions weren’t a problem at all but fumbling has been.  Of course, Carson had fumbling issues, too.  Hurts may flop.  But as an Eagles fan, I want him to succeed.  He has the skills, talent, mindset and work ethic to possibly pull it off and a better QB whisperer than Press Taylor.

As an Eagles fan, I want all the players to succeed.  Some will, some won’t.  (Hell, if Pryor or Herbig come into camp in great shape and produce as dancing bears, I will take that, but I think Hurts succeeding is more probable.) With 9 draft choices this year and next, most every player is fighting for his job, if not this year then next.

I agree with everything you say except this...

Hurts starting his frosh year at Bama was like Bolden starting at PSU a while back.  Against the norm of the Paterno led PSU teams...you never start a frosh.  They won a NC sloppily that year.  The next year a super touted recruit comes in and they decided not fix the slightly squeaky wheel.  By week 5 it was apparent that Hurts was getting benched at some point.  They kept winning, so once again no need to fix the working wheel till the wheel fell off.  Hurts was average at his absolute best in his 2 years starting at Bama.

At OU, slightly different story.

Everything you just said is fair and I can agree with it. Chances are there will be some improvement. I question how much though, because there certainly are red flags. It's been noted.

Doesn't mean I want the guy to fail. I know you aren't saying that, but some people..

Such an odd game.  All 437 Achilles heels of out def last year played into Hills strengths and SP decided to call that gameplan that day.

Well, considering that the difference between a 1st and 2nd round draft pick lies in the balance of how many snaps he takes and possibly their playoff positioning, I think that it is very relevant to keep an eye over there.   I'd love to see him play well, lock down the QB position there, but have games slip through their fingers and have the Colts miss the playoffs.   But, for that, he needs 75% of the snaps.   That's going to be tough if he's not playing well...or injured.

Agreed.  The Eagles did not win that game, Sean Payton lost that game.

LAR, SF are vastly overrated.  Those games will be snoozers.  I think NO is going to take a big step back without Brees, too.

I want the Colts to win the SB led by league MVP Carson Wentz.

More egg on the faces of Lurie and Roseman might be required for meaningful changes to be made.

Nope.  Rollins is overrated.  Utley, no.  I do think Ertz is as well.

Oh and BG.

Eh, I think there was homers that overrated Utley (I'm probably the biggest Chase homer of them all, I named one of my damn dogs after him).  Rollins, well there was some people that were just blind.

Utley was often the best player on the field...but never the worst (rookie season aside when playing without a second baseman was better than having him on the field).  Utley epitomized the Philly attitude and that's why some vastly overrated him. Like Kelce, both are borderline or eventual HOF type players.

Rollins went down like a wet sack of potatoes too often...like Ertz.

I'm interested to see how he plays in Indy.  He went from carrying a team the last 4 of 2019 to looking like he doesnt belong in the league in 2020.
