I'd really like to know what the plan is for Milton Williams.

He's the type of player who would be a guaranteed bust under Schwartz.  Schwartz was underrated and over-criticized by us in some ways, but he absolutely did suck at anything involving creativity or maximizing unique fits.

There will be a fine line between Williams becoming a #3 DT who is a liability against the run (or a depth DE who is not disruptive) and becoming a truly excellent pass rusher and full time player who creates a unique headache and matchup problem by moving around the DL.

His explosive athletic traits are very rare...and usually I like to give these types of raw athletes a home at 1 single position to get them comfortable, but I really feel that Williams' success hinges upon moving him around.

dont overthink it. he's a three technique

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I'm not buying that.  It's May, no one on the market is in the position to demand a large contract. Also not like Kerrigan came here to play for free.

True, yet I imagine say Steven nelson is going to want more than a 1 year deal, the longer they go unsigned the more their price drops until competition for their services is in effect which at this point I don't think it is.

A corner like nelson is going to demand a bit more on the market than a 33 year old rotational DE.

Maybe Howie is working the phones for a trade or is planning on signing a corner after the first wave of cuts.

no reason at this point to rush in and make hasty moves Howie is in a position where he can be patient and wait to see what comes to him.

We realistically won't be in position to get Stingley and Thibodaux but maybe we can get Sevyn Banks and Thibodaux.   Should be a very solid CB/DE draft next year.

As much as some of us rag on Sirianni, I’m beyond thankful we don’t have this f’ing guy

No idea, didn't even know he was available.  If no one wanted him should we be high fiving this?

OTC already has accounted for hit.  Jeffrey and Jackson had cap hits before the June 1 designation of 16.5 and 11.1 million.

Once designated, it became 7.5 and 5.7 million in 2021, with 9 and 5.4 million moving to 2022.

OTC updated after they restructured but there’s still $2M each that opens up on 6/1

Can some please confirm this...

It looks like OverTheCap and Spotrac have not yet accounted for the impact of cutting Jeffrey and Jackson after June 1.

That would add another to $4M to the ~$4.3M that both sites are currently showing.

Yes. Per the rules of a designated 6/1 cut they have to carry the cap number until 6/1. After that, $4M opens up

Actually think he sounds like he would be a fun coach to play for. Especially for an organization that had been putrid from top to bottom.

He'd be an awesome high school coach.

Designated pass-rusher/stunter in year 1. Starting by year 3 once he adds bulk.

Apparently he wanted to stay in the NFCE, so I'm not sure it's as much about teams not wanting him as it is the eagles wanting him more than the giants and cowboys.

Who's high fiving it?  I mean how is anyone supposed to know what the motivation for Kerrigan is? He may be old and done, he may provide some meaningful snaps. For me for now it's a signing. We'll see how it goes.

I’m high fiving it. I would have paid him to retire. The fact that he’ll at least spend some time on our roster is a bonus.

I'd imagine there would be games next year where Williams on stunts just annihilates cement-footed guards.

I'm not sure that he wouldn't have fit Schwartz's defense.  I mean pressure from inside and pressure just using the front 4 is a big part of his scheme.  He isn't looking for huge DT's to occupy blockers.  He wants them to penetrate.  The Eagles didn't really draft anyone at DT aside from Qualls.  They drafted 3 edge players.  In any event, I think Gannon's scheme is going to be refreshing just because he is scheming to disguise coverages and he is going to vary his fronts.  I think Williams could be used as DE at times in sort of a hybrid 3-4 look. I do have concerns OT's may be able to easily control him because of his arm length.  So I think he is best suited inside.

Bengals and Pittsburgh wanted him.

Some players have a spine. Nice to see.

You don't think a team who will be picking in the top 15 with 2 other 1st rounders won't be in the position to get Stingley?

if we dont trade some of those picks for Deshaun Watson that is.

haha...the small print. ugh.

If they just want Stingley, sure they could package up.  But having dreams of a stud DE and CB means that's less likely.  Who knows how the college and NFL seasons will play out.  Top half of the draft could be totally different than what we're thinking now.

It only makes sense for the Eagles with a whole new coaching staff to be in the building with them.  I don't understand why you wouldn't want to.

Looked it up years ago and thought that I read otherwise. Just looked it up now and it appears you are correct

As a lifelong Notre Dame fan, I consider Rudy (the movie) to be cringe-worthy. I specifically hated the way that Dan Devine is portrayed. They make him out to be evil, which annoys the hell out of me. The guy led the team to a national championship, and yet the school itself backed the making of that movie and apparently endorsed that representation of him. Disgusting. Also, the entire backstory of Rudy himself was ridiculously enhanced to the point of being hokey. Still, the basic story -- guy walks onto the team, never plays, and finally gets onto the field on the last play of a game and somehow gets a sack -- was true.

It's a movie I'll watch only once. Kinda like Invincible, which was similarly ridiculous.

I definitely wouldn’t watch DeVonta versus him if I was a Stingley fan but the truth is that DeVonta has three years on him. Oh and DeVonta was a really good collegiate WR.

It’s part of the reason why you can’t read too much into college production: having a recent high school grad playing against pro level talent/skill is not a helpful read on either player.

That is something to definitely keep in mind, and I do give him pass for his freshman performance, but the fact that in the game the year after, not only did he not show any improvement against DeVonta, he got smoked even worse than the year before, that did raise a concern.

Smith put a clown suit on everyone.

True, but Stingely isn't suppose to be lumped in with everyone. He is suppose to be the next Revis level corner, basically be at CB what DeVonta was at WR. The fact that he held up no better than any other Corner in the SEC against DeVonta does give me slight pause.

That would be an interesting workers' comp claim.

How much extra time do we get for OTAs or training camp because we have a new HC?

He's going to be a rotational guy and I'm sure a good one at that. BG is another year older and probably would benefit later in the year from being rotated and kept fresh. Barnett is up and down and Sweat has to be managed in terms of his workload.
