Relying on a 4th round rookie CB to win the starting CB job opposite Slay is pure negligence if that is what the FO is actually thinking.

I think they believe Maddox is the temporary answer.  I am sure they are looking for opportunities but it's not going to be a priority.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Question-

If the eagles can pull off an Ertz for Hicks trade and sign Steven Nelson how do you feel about this defense?

I think it might be pretty darn good.

Yeah or someone who watched Hurts and understands he’s not a very good passer of the football. I have not heard one commitment to Jalen Hurts this offseason

The commitment they showed was by not drafting another QB and signing Flacco.  Words are meaningless, just look at who is getting the first team reps and who is on the team.

I expect the defense to look great at times vs teams with average o-line play but against good QBs and good coaching they’ll get smoked

I think that's the likely answer at this point unless they can swing a cheap trade. Maddox and Slay outside and they hope McPhearson can win the nickel job.

On a scale of Billy Davis to Bud Carson, I give it an Emmitt Thomas.

And I’m saying I wouldn’t be shocked to see Flacco get some first team reps.

There is no Hicks for Ertz trade. This was a suggestion by a reporter in a article which does not really make it a rumor.

Jalen Hurts is a better passer at this point and time than Joe Flacco is.  That doesn't even take into account Hurts ability to make something out of nothing with his legs that is completely missing from Flacco.

Eagles not committing to Hurts this offseason has nothing to do with the presence of Joe Flacco.  It has everything to do with the fact that Jalen Hurts is an unknown and if he wants to be the QB going forward after this season then he will have to earn it on the field this year.  Otherwise the Eagles have positioned themselves to make a move for a veteran QB either through trade or move up in the draft next year for one of the top prospects.

Maddox proved last year he can't play outside.  The only area he might be a temporary answer at is as the nickel CB.

Just had to look up who the Eagles DC was. No clue.

Actually have to go look it up again because I already forgot

Flacco is a back up.  I'm not sure why anyone would think he's here to start.

There is no doubt about it they will toss him some first team reps because they want to preach this competition all around the roster mantra with the new HC in.  But no reasonable person is going to expect anything other than Hurts running away with the job and doing so fairly quickly.

I Imagine Campbell trying to be like this with it

I have no faith in Maddox.  It is, however, a different scheme that makes it easier on the CBs.  Gannon is also supposed to be a very good DB coach.  Maybe they think Maddox will show improvement.  I can't believe they won't add a veteran at some point but I think Maddox it the starter and even signing a vet won't change that immediately.

Is it a hot take to say I could see Flacco starting by October? Not because Hurts is injured but because he isn’t playing well?

Hell I wouldn’t be shocked to see Joe get 1st team reps preseason.

The only reason to play Flacco over Hurts is if Hurts is so bad it compromises their WR investment.   I am not a Hurts believer, but I don’t think he’ll be that bad.

Will Hurts be the starter, most likely, yes. But I don’t think it’s an easy lock the way you guys do.

The Eagles are paying Flacco more than the Jets did last season. I think maybe double.

My guess is Hurts starts but has a short leash if the passing game is subpar.

Well you also didn't know who the defensive coordinator was three posts ago.

I was looking over the staff this morning and I had no idea who the OC was.  Still don't.  I know Tracy Rockers as the DL coach, Brian Johnson is QB, some young white guy is the LB coach and Stoutland is still here.  Couldn't tell you the rest.

ST's coordinator is the only one I have no idea who it is.

I don’t see how they can justify that. They spent the second on Hurts. They have to see what they have in him. It’s not like they’re ready to compete this season as a team. They essentially have to give Hurts a full season, or they look even more like fools. Joe Flacco isn’t the future, for sure. Hurts probably isn’t either but they need to give him every opportunity to find out. To me, it doesn’t matter how bad he looks. Flacco winning us an extra game only hurts us, long term.

The only way Hurts is not  the starter is if he gets hurt, traded or they make a trade to bring in someone like Watson.

0.0 chance that Joe Flacco wins a QB competition with Hurts.  Joe Flacco offers no upside whatsoever.  It would make no sense.  It equally makes no sense whatsoever to have Hurts on a short leash.  He's a young QB, there will be struggles and he should be allowed to play through those struggles.  Again, there is no upside whatsoever to go with Flacco unless they want to go full tank mode.

Give Flacco the year and then go get your Franchise QB of the future, Kirk Cousins

That signing would crash the message board for a week.
