I mean they drafted Hurts after the end of the 2019 season.  I think part of that was due to injury but clearly there were some other concerns.  My concern with Hurts is that he will put up numbers especially if the defense continues to play poorly.  We can't let just his stats interfere with an evaluation on his improvement and potential.  The question is whether Sirianni will be able to give an honest assessment of Hurts' performance.  He has defended Hurts publicly even after his poor performance in Dallas.  He didn't significantly adjust what there game plan was in reaction to the performance in Dallas either.

I think the bigger part of the equation may be whether Roseman and Lurie can fairly evaluate QB prospects.  Roseman and Lurie always scout QBs.  I think they scouted first round QBs in 2018 and 2019 even with Wentz on the team.  I think they will look closely at any prospect that comes out and shows potential.  My bigger concern is all of this is that they fall in love, wrongly, with some prospect that really isn't it.  The worst case scenario is they spend a lot of draft capital to get a QB and he is outplayed by Hurts on what is still a deficient roster with limited cap space.

I don’t disagree with your assessment that they’re going to scout them and have. They did that this year with Wilson and try to trade up to get Zack Wilson. The Eagles draft a quarterback high or trade for a quarterback, I don’t think Jalen hurts is going to be back as a starter at this point. At that point I could see them trading Jalen hurts to get some draft picks back and going with Gardner Minshew as the back up next year. I think Gardner Minshew was always going to be the back up in 2022. Question that is yet to be determined is who’s going to be the starting quarterback in 2022. But if hurts isn’t the guy and they bring someone else in then i don’t see him being back.

With what?  A big contract offer the Eagles can't afford, or draft capital that needs to be used to build a defense?

How did GB get Rodgers?  HOU get Watson?  SEA get Wilson?  LAC get Herbert?  BUF get Josh Allen?  They drafted them and developed them.  That is the path.

YOu need a franchise QB, I dont care if you draft them or trade for them, or pick up in FA ... when you dont have one, and need one, and you identify a QB as a franchise type player, you have to go after them, if it's by draft great, if there are none avail by draft, but they are avail by trade, great, and or FA.... either way not having one, is how you lose perrennially.

Miami trading players for picks is odd for a team in win-now mode. Grant was their PR too.

Call me crazy, but watching the Raiders last night, Gannon's defense might be perfect against them. I don't think they can sustain 12-14 play drives, at least not consistently. They seem to be a big play team. I think we have a good shot against them. Carolina, if CMC doesn't play, no reason why we can't go toe to toe with them either. Tampa is almost assuredly a loss, and likely a bad one.

I actually think Carolina is a winnable game. I don’t think Carolina is as good as that 3-1 record. Darnold is playing well. But the Saints are frauds. And the texans and Jets suck and were kept in that game til the 4th quarter. The Cowboys game looked a lot closer cause of the final score. They were down 36-14 and got tds against a soft dallas defense.

I think the Raiders struggled in that game because in my opinion the Chargers are one of the top three teams in the AFC. Like Dallas they’ve always had talent but crap coaching. Staley is a massive upgrade to Lynn. That defense is really good. They’ve held every quarterback so far to under 260 yards. That’s pretty impressive in a passing league and they have faced Patrick Mahomes, dak and carr who have been lighting it up. Plus you’re making the trip out west to Vegas. I think the Waller and renfroe could have huge games that day.

He was buried on the depth chart even with Fuller out. Have Parker, waddle, Williams and when Fuller comes back in a week or 2 behind him. Plus also behind Albert Wilson. I’m guessing likely also allowing waddle to take over as a PR.

I would say within the next 2. Thanks to howie bungling the cap we maybstill next year to get old guys with big numbers off the books. If you strike out give minshew next yr while we repair the cap and roster.

I would prefer that for next year, honestly.  They need to clear the books for 2023 as much as possible to open up the horizons.

I like Grant. Good move for the Bears.

Sure is.

But not enough score to win.  Idc about yards but winning. If you pass, pass, pass, pass you won't win.

Tell that to Big Red.

They should’ve been doing this since the end of the 2019 season.  they were foolish enough during the pandemic to sit there and make a complete 180 degree decision from we need to rebuild to we should go for the division this year because there’s three new head coaches and it’s a crappy division that we could win. The writing was on the wall about the issues this team was going to have going forward and a big rebuild was necessary starting then. The only thing they could’ve accounted for was how bad wentz would regress but the rest of the signs were there.

So I'm in the bank the other day, and the woman who's stuck in the branch behind the counter shuts off the ATM.

So when I go into the branch to do my business, she off handedly says something along the lines " You've never met an Irish woman from Boston who came here via Long Island".

I smiled and said.

LFG!

Urban Meyer was hired because nobody gives a crap about the Jaguars. Firing him and hiring some boilerplate OC would be a complete 180.

Why does any care if a coach had a woman rubbing against him in a video?

Big Red has one of the best QB's in the NFL, and a offense with all kinds of talent around him.

What we got?

I have no idea. I mean yeah the optics aren't good for the team, but who cares, other than the SJW's of the world. Two consenting adults.

It's actually brilliant on Urbans part.

He doesn't want to be there but he can't quit already as he would look ridiculously bad.

So he is probably creating this distraction on purpose.  Didn't fly back with his team on purpose.  All so the Jags will just fire him after all the uproar and criticism from fans and media.

This is his way of getting out.

The Jags should just fire Meyer for cause (morals clause) or settle by only paying him this year's salary so he can go to USC.

Off topic , but Zac Wilson had a heck of a game this past weekend , he showed off that arm .I had him as my top QB coming out . The jets get him some blocking and weapons  , look out

Lawrence needs better coaching

Lance needs time

Fields I don’t like him or his situation

Jones is pretty much what everyone thought he was

If we can get Sam Howell(who seems to be a Siranni type guy) around that 10 range you gotta jump.

At that point you spend every other pick next year on defense.

Ugh no. Howell is not worth a first rounder

What the heck is a "franchise QB?" Is Cousins a franchise QB? Carr?

If you're talking elite QB, you're talking 3-5 in the NFL at any one time. McNabb wasn't, Vick wasn't, we've never had an elite QB the last six decades.

Once you accept getting an elite QB (Brady isn't anymore, he's lost a lot of arm strength) is a matter mostly of luck, right place at the right time sort of thing (Mahomes falling to KC), then you readjust, and focus on getting a top 10-15 guy and build a team around them. Eli won two SBs, and no one in their right mind thinks he was elite. Brees wasn't elite until he landed in NO with the right HC and the right skill people.

So the question this year is whether Hurts can develop enough to be that 10th or so ranked QB who can win with a good team around him.

TB won with "washed up" Brady, SF got to SB with Garopollo, Rams with Goff, Eagles won with Foles, Denver won with "washed up" Peyton, Ravens with Flacco.

Hurts has shown the raw physical ability, the question is whether he can speed up his mental processing with experience. And only one way to find out.

But given the track record of the other QBs drafted the past two years compared to Hurts, why would you gamble on a high draft pick rather than see if he pans out?
