Gainwell stung him again, which was funny.

Like deja vu - that was great.

Yup.  The Pitts/Chase/Waddle/Smith discussion was replaced with Slater/Surtain/Horn.

I actually liked slater more than most. I wouldn’t have been through the roof about it but i did love his versatility and thought he’d be a good olineman and could start from day one.  He might turn out to be better than i thought. Chargers nailed their first two picks.

I hope Dillard keeps facing fastballs until the trade deadline (I figure Brian Burns is a favorable matchup in this regard, although he's certainly a better test than Frank Clark's backup).

Yup, he's been lucky he faced a LB in Dallas and a smaller DE in KC, he's struggled with anchoring against power so until he shows he can block a guy that weighs more than 250 lbs I'm going to hold my praise.

Was frustrating watching him get out in front and to the second level to block absolutely no one

One can see the athleticism and quickness but he hasn't put it together.

Where as when Mailata gets out on the move he murders dudes.

Elijah Riley has been protected again, but not brought up to the game day roster.  If they like him that much, push up and release Mac McLain.

Hurts is a backup.

Neat. Not sure where Roob got those numbers from or why he used 8 points specifically. Oh right, he's cherry picking.

Here are some actual numbers. For his career:

In 0-7 point games, he completes 51.69 percent for 773 yards and a 80.2 rating. He has an average Y/A of 6.55 with 4 TDs

In 8-14 point games, he completes 63 percent for 523 yards and a 99.1 rating. He has an average Y/A of 8.44 with 3 TDs

In 15+ point games, he completes 65 percent for 932 yards and a 93.2 rating. He has an average Y/A of 8.25 with 6 TDs

So what does that tell us? When games are close, he statistically performs his worst. As games get out of hand, he suddenly is able to pass the ball more effectively for more yards and more TDs (see also: garbage time). Now that 15+ margin includes the Falcons game as well, but we all know he's been on the end of getting blown out far more often then blowing a team out.

In other words, you and Roob can post whichever cherry picked stats you want to. Those of us watching know better.

I believe the general consensus (exceptions noted) was Slater would have been great value at #12, but we wanted a pick with more juice.

Those are games, not game situations.

They don't need to elevate a PS player until Saturday.

Also, why not use this scheme anyway?  It allows you to effectively have him available without subjecting him to waivers.

Just to point out he’s completing 63% of his passes, 3tds, 1 rushing td, 420 yards and 1 int when down 9 or more which the eagles in 3 consecutive games were training by 14 points or more at some point in the 4th quarter. So by numbers 43% of his passing tds, 36% of his passing yards have come in 9+ situation.

* forgot gainwell had a rushing td not a passing. The fact we’ve scored 5 of our 9 tds on the year when down 10 or more points is not actually good. That’s more than 50% of our tds on the season came when down double digits

It's always amusing to listen to fans during rebuilds, off-season, blow it up, trade everyone, once the season starts, why do we suck?

Gannon can't perform miracles, he stopped below average offenses, got torched by top offenses, about what you'd expect given the personnel.

Hurts is a work in progress, it takes time for young QBs to slow the game down and understand what they're seeing, especially coming out of today's college game.

We have three inexperienced WRs who are just figuring out things like route running (for Smith, dealing with contact on a regular basis) and trying to develop chemistry with their QB.

The OL is in shambles, but the depth seems to be holding up, which means we're developing some young OL.

This season is about progress, not production.

I agree, but if you keep protecting while a PS player that you stole inactive, makes me wonder they even claimed him.

Gannon has good enough personnel to not allow 83 points in the last two games. Ridiculous.

Yeah was definitely not the sexy pick.

He has one premier player in Hargrave.

He has a top role player in Sweat.

He has an above average CB in Slay, an average CB in Nelson, an above average NCB in Maddox

The rest of the defense?????

People have been drooling about this defensive line all summer. Hargrave, Cox, Sweat, Barnett. Slay as a top corner. Nelson and Maddox should be at least competent. He has enough personnel to not have his defense look completely lifeless. Dallas smashed them right in the mouth for 4 quarters. Kansas City didn't punt. His scheme is all over the place. His defensive line doesn't look like they know how they want to play.

It's not great personnel, but it shouldn't be a lifeless defense. It's been completely atrocious.

And if Sweat is a role player, and I don't necessarily disagree, then I'm not sure he is worth that contract he just signed.

Shouldn't Howie be shouldering the blame, then?

Nah.

If he's not named Bud Carson or Jim Johnson, our DC will be at fault.

Well maybe he should draft better, instead of drafting WR after WR after WR to try and fix the long line of mistakes.

You know who gave him these pieces on defense ( @vikas83 i figured you’d appreciate this simpsons reference)

Our defense probably has average personnel, maybe slightly below without Brandon Graham. They need a draft or two, but the idea that personnel is preventing Gannon from having any kind of success on defense is inaccurate imo.
