finished season one over the weekend. i really liked it. the main kid character in the show pulls you into the story kind of like grogu (baby yoda) did in mandalorian.

We watched the 2nd one last night.  Very good.  Better than the first.  From the previews of the 3rd chapter, it appears some of the characters go back in time?!?

I took it more as like AHS where the same actors play different characters but could be.  I kinda hope they don’t try to do time travel - could get messy

Captain Fantastic was a really good watch. It stars Viggo Mortenson as a father of 6 who along with his wife raised their kids in isolation  in deep woods of Pacific Northwest. Viggo & his wife were very left wing & anti capitalist, passed those views to their kids. (no this is not a movie going off the Woke trend). Keeping them away from society and modern technology, educating them to think critically & study college level topics as kids, Training them to be at their peak athletically and self-reliant. But because of the isolation the kids are very socially awkward and stunted. Then because of an unexpected event they’re forced to rejoin society for a short time.
I personally loved the movie, highly recommend.

been watching some icelandic show called katla...on ep 4, i think.  so far, so good, imo.  kinda of a suspense/sci-fi type show with previously missing/dead people randomly showing up in some small village next to an active volcano.

Good thing you said the name of the show because that’s currently the plot of about 20 different Netflix shows

I thought it was horrible.  My wife stuck with it.  I couldn’t take the acting.  Real bad.

I enjoyed Fear Street but Jesus H Christ the accents in part 3 are abysmal. They should lose half their pay for that garbage. If you’re doing Irish accents maybe cast after you heard their garbage attempts.

outside if that it was enjoyable.

About 4-5 episodes into Start Up.  Thanks for the suggestion, I am enjoying it.  Man there is a lot of F-ing going on.  And who in the heck was that hot redhead that the FBI banged in the shower?  More of her please.

His ex wife.  She will have an appearance in one other episode but dressed. I didn't recognize her in the later scene. Had to ask Mrs HE who that was.

The show obviously came back due to the popularity of crypto. Though it has been in the news a ton over the past decade, its really hit mainstream with apps like robinhood, and the dogecoin virility.

Now, even more interesting is this story about one of the co-founder's of Ethereum liquidating all of his crypto assets due to concerns for personal safety.

Quote

Many would be envious of Anthony Di Lorio’s position as the co-founder of the world’s second biggest cryptocurrency, but today it has become apparent that positions of power and wealth can often come hand-in-hand with some deeply concerning downsides.

The billionaire revealed that his high-profile role and fortune have brought unwanted attention, and that his concerns for the personal security of his family have sky-rocketed.

"It’s got a risk profile that I am not too enthused about,” he said.

"I don’t feel necessarily safe in this space – if I was focused on larger problems, I think I’d be safer.”

In an interview with Bloomberg, he revealed that he will be cutting ties with all ongoing crypto projects, and is looking to sell his leading digital asset firm – DeCentral.

He hit headlines in 2018 when buying the largest and one of the most expensive condos in Canada – a luxury penthouse, set across three floors of Toronto’s St Regis Residence, and valued at more than $22m USD. It is believed such high profile displays of wealth may have compromised Do Lorio’s security with unwanted attention.

And in another article he has talked about how crypto is controlled by a "cartel" of powerful people that basically defeats the purpose of a decentralized currency.

It may be nothing like whats going on in the show, but it almost sounds like the show is really not that far from reality of you are trying to make a startup crypto company. It may be hard to stay clean in that game. Maybe one day we will see a movie based on the real events of DiLorio's life.

Season 10 will be on Netflix next Monday.  I haven't seen it yet.

I read they are doing season 11 as the final season with 24 episodes, broken into 4 segments.

Watched "1BR" last night. Wasn't so much of a "thriller" but more of a modern torture porn movie with a hit you over the head with a steel chair social message. It was ok. Held my interest, but nothing special.

I enjoyed it but agree it was nothing special. Cults always fascinate me.

Saw A Classic Horror Story yesterday and the Italian dubbing ruined what might have been a pretty cool movie. The deaths were horrifying.

Spoiler

I was hoping that she survived the explosion to open up a possible sequel because I like vampire movies

Pan's Labyrinth is now streaming on Netflix.  If, for some reason, you haven't seen it, watch it, and remove that stain from your soul.

I have not. I’m not against captions but at the time I was not looking to read a movie from my house so I am overdue

You'll forget that you're reading within the first 15 minutes.

Oh no doubt. Done it with plenty of movies with Parasite being the most recent big name. Just prevents you from looking away for any amount of time (unless you don’t mind missing bits of dialog/story), and at home I find that focus to be harder to tap into
