If anyone remembers "Free Solo,” which I also thought was great, this main character is a very different guy. Both are nerds that love to climb. The director does an incredible job of getting to the core of the main character’s personality and why he does what he does. I’ve honestly always been a fan and follower of "next levels of consciousness” and enlightenment, mainly because I will never achieve either (whoever makes fun of this is a ****ot), but the guy in the Alpinist has it. Was hesitant about it because I’m not the biggest Kevin Hart guy but he’s not his usual self in this and his acting is really good. The story is definitely not what I expected after seeing the little Netflix preview. Don’t really understand the plot device of the dead girl. She’s some groupie who OD’ed in your hotel. Call the cops, have them drug test you and tell them she’s some rando you just met at a club.
