Lock might be the one QB in the league Hurts is an upgrade over, so the Eagles have that going for them in pursuit of DK.

ATTENTION

The bill is due for the EMB in April! That's next month!

While at this point we have raised sufficient funds, much of that money was still surplus from our original crowd sourcing project when this place was founded originally almost 3 years ago. We had enough then to pay for the board for 2 years, AND have a chunk left over for year 3.  But what that means is that we have had little to no monetary support from nearly all of our members during all that time in the interim. That resulted in needing a bit of an awareness campaign to show members the "Store" tab and re-introduce the affiliate links to members who forgot, or somehow missed them initially.

With a few clutch gofundme donations and solid success raising awareness of the links, we have seen a boost in usage of the amazon link earning the funding to support the boards for another year.

However, after this bill is paid, and going in to year 4, we will not have that surplus funding anymore. This time, we will be starting from almost $0.

In my opinion it is still important to make the gofundme donation. We only have 11 total donations! Thats not encouraging for the sustainability of this place.

I am planning to make a gofundme donation a yearly task that I will do each March, with the bills due in April. I humbly ask that anyone who can,  please do the same. Lets raise some money now so that we don't need to worry about it leading up to next year's due date.

A small donation from a lot of people this March, and next March should go a long way towards ensuring the sustainability of this EMB for years to come. Id love to see it not be a yearly struggle so lets all do our small part.

@Paul852  You've told me 40k is nothing to you. Lets see!

Funny how many people around here want to tell everyone else how they should spend their money yet they won't even drop a few bucks of their own to keep EMB up and running.

Stat tidbit:

Jalen Hurts averaged 209.6 passing yards per start this year.

That's the lowest of any starting Eagles QB since Vick lost his job in 2013, 9 years ago.  That was the lowest out of all starting NFL QB's in 2021 except for rookies Zach Wilson and Justin Fields.

I’m no hurts advocate, but that’s a slightly misleading stat when omitting rushing yards. They’re worth the same whether you value one or the other more. Hurts added 52 yards per start on the ground, how many of the people who are eclipsing him did that?

260 yards per game still isn’t spectacular, but it’s better in explaining the oddity of your 209 ypg stat

Some more Hurts stat tidbits:

* The Eagles were 2-4 in games in which Hurts threw 30 or more passes.

* Hurts faced prevent defenses for a full half in blowouts in the only 2 games in which he eclipsed 300 yards passing.

* Hurts threw 2 or more INTs in 4 of the 6 games in which he threw 30 or more passes.

* Hurts averaged just under 200 yards passing in his wins, over 220 yards passing in his losses.

First of all, of course stats, especially in football, can be bent to suit many arguments.  Granted, for sure.

Secondly...any time the defense of a QB needs to start with including rushing yards, the defense has already lost.  It's a quarterback, not a running back.  Teams built around QB's running the football fail time and time again.

The central point here is that the Eagles are better off then their QUARTERBACK passes less.  We saw that reality play out into realization in Sirianni's mind as the 2021 season progressed.

In the 2022 pass only NFL, we have a starting quarterback who needs to use his arm less for the team to be more competitive.

I disagree strongly. Is Deebo Samuel not legitimate rushing threat because his title is wide receiver and not running back? What kind of an argument is that?

In their 2013 super bowl run, Russell Wilson threw for… wait for it… 209 yards a game! He also added 35 a game on the ground to bring his total to over 240.

Am I saying Jalen Hurts is Russell Wilson? Of course not. But to dismiss a QB who moves the chains with his legs because it’s not what you think a respectable QB should be doing is absurd.

QB's who pass poorly and compensate by running should be dismissed.

False. Wentz was lower at 209.59 yards per game for the Colts.

Every team in the NFL is more competitive if they don’t have to pass as much. That’s a silly take. Elevated passing almost always implies the team is behind. Tom Brady never threw more last year than he did When he got blown out by the Rams. He never threw less than he did when he blew out Carolina, Chicago, Atlanta and us. Every team will follow that trend.

Good pick up; I missed that one.  And ironic.  And he lost his job.

Every team in the NFL is passing more and more (well, not us).  That's a patently incorrect take to say that teams are more competitive when they pass less.

Teams exceed a certain passing threshold that leads to deteriorating efficiency.  Falling behind drives teams above that threshold.  That's the trend you speak of.  And the threshold for "passing too much" is much lower for Hurts than it is for everyone else.

The 49ers aren’t passing more and more. Indianapolis isn’t passing more and more. Arizona isn’t passing more and more. Baltimore isn’t passing more and more, Tennesse isn’t passing more and more, New Orleans isn’t passing more and more. Nearly All teams with winning records, including us (Baltimore just missed at 8-9). Proportionate to their normal passing stats, it’s always been correct that teams pass less when they win. And it likely always will be.

Hurts’ is lower because he’s on a run focused team. We’re primarily a run focused team because he’s not a proficient passer. This does not make his mobility asset to the offense irrelevant, nor does it mean that his low passing yards being lower than inferior QBs doesn’t deserve context.

Davante Adams is widely considered one of the best WRs in the NFL as he leads the league in receiving TDs the last 2 years and is within 90 yards of leading in that category as well. These stats were possible because he’s played with the back-to-back MVP throwing him the football.

Derek Carr has a career 7.1 yards per attempt as TE’s have led his team in receiving for 4 of the last 5 seasons. Additionally, he has not thrown for even 30 TDs in 7 years. These stats are possible because he is Derek Carr.

One of these two things will change dramatically in 2022.

Adams is good, very good, but I’ve never seen him as this all pro talent. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong
