Daltrey was a poofter and Townsend was a kiddy porn guy. Entwhistle tho….those fingers were something else

Still not as good as JPJ

Not even close.  Entwhistle and Moon were the best rhythm section in rock in roll although Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker were awful fun to watch.

Oh Jack Bruce. I forgot all about him. Fantastic player. Ginger Baker appeared to not know where he was 90 percent of the time. Great drummer.

Um, Gerry Lee and the GOAT Neil Peart smash them both.

On a different tangent, worst concert you have ever seen, whether it was the band sucked, or you had to go with / take someone else to the show ??

Have only been to a few in my life. Glad to say none were Hanson.

Do not ever mention those posers Zeppelin in the same breath as the Who.

The Stones also are better than Zeppelin.

I’m not even a big listener of The Who or the Stones but I have never liked Zepplin.

I know absolutely nothing about music, but I’ve been to a few good ones. Bloodhound Gang at the Troc in 97 was fantastic.  Wu-Tang/Rage against the machine at whatever the Camden waterfront is called now was the coolest concert of my life. I wasn’t 18 yet and surprised I wasn’t murdered. Roger Waters at the Nissan Center in Williamsburg is also up there for me.

Saw him open for the Killers and Foo Fighters several years ago. Dude can play.

If you haven't, you need to see him live.

Saw the Bloodhound Gang at The Gorge in 95, opening act at summer jam.  This is when they thought they were the Beastie Boys.  We threw the promo cassette singles back on the stage like weapons.

Chancellor is a great bassist. (I can talk bassists for days).

I rank em, roughly:

Geddy

JPJ

Entwhistle

James Jamerson

Les Claypool

Carol Kaye

Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clark deserve a listen and listing.  On double bass, I recommend listening to Ray Brown and Jimmy Blanton.  (Really old school.  Mom introduced me to Kerouac but Dad introduced me to jazz despite the fact she introduced him to it.)

I play a red Rickenbacher.  (Poorly nowadays as I really don’t pick it up often enough anymore.) Current commercial with Mike Huckabee and Larry Gatlin has Huckabee playing its twin.  If only I could play like Entwhistle but his fingers were so long.  But I don’t think anyone could play like Pastorius.  Google Birdland and you can find some video of him playing it live.  Incredible.  What do you play?

They are called Why Don’t We.  My daughters high school crush.  Got popular enough that Ed Sheeran wrote a song for them, and Macklemore was on one of their songs.

I actually dislike Pastorius a lot. I appreciate his musicianship and his innovation, it's amazing. And his bass lines are incredibly complex and difficult. But when I listen....it just doesn't sound good (which is kind of odd considering my love of Tom Waits).

I play a cherry red Peavey; was handed down from my uncle. I found switching to flats the greatest thing I ever did, I love the heavy thud it gives off.

They say the Muppet Animal was based on Keith Moon but his appearance is Ginger Baker.
