Lot of Eagles love in the new Bill Simmons pod.  He had Warren Sharp, both like bets for Eagles as #1 seed and making the Super Bowl.  Sharp likes Eagles as best record in the league as well.

Their reasoning? I don’t know how you justify the Eagles having a better record than the Rams.

I agree with your bolded statement, but all it takes is one team to claim him and he doesn't make it to our PS.

This was my thinking too. Allen will probably have some teams very hot and very cold on him. And a guy like that is more likely to get picked up than Cain for example - who might be just lukewarm for everyone.

I was thinking about this the other day. A lot of talk was about how Howie generally keeps 3 QB's on the roster, but I don't know how much water that argument holds. 2016 and a lot of 2017 was just 2 QB's. 2018 and 2019 was 3. I think the decision to keep 3 in 2020 and 2021 has a lot more to do with COVID than anything else. With the relaxed testing rules, it will be interesting to see how they go at it in 2022. Sinnett isn't a guy worth a spot, IMO.

He isn’t but if Miami puts Skylar Thompson on the PS, hopefully the Eagles don’t ruin him like they did Sinnett.    Going back years you are correct, Howie sets the roster and in previous seasons, he only kept two.

I really dont think all 3 of them make, but if I had to pick 1 it would be hightower. But gun to head, all 3 get cut.

End of the day, getting to 55 was easy, that was my point

Hightower had the most pro experience was a drafted player that Howie seems to cling to and showed up a little in the pre season doing something he's shield away from since here, catching passes over the middle.

He's shown he can be a legit field stretcher in the past his problem has always been playing through contact before during and after catch.

If he can contribute on teams he'll have a chance to stick though Allen looked great as a gunner and covey can return kicks/punts

I'd guess all 3 get cut we'll see.

I didn't listen but they are talking about actual futures bets. Once you do that the odds come into play more than anything else.

Thanks for posting.  I agree broadly. The tough one for me is Allen. He absolutely has no business making the team for his WR performance but the way he performed as a gunner on ST on Saturday makes the spot justifiable. You're more willing to carry someone for their potential if they're contributing on ST. And given his higher profile, you'd think he's more likely to get picked up by another team than some of your other fringe guys.

Keeping Allen does have some opportunity cost of course. The Eagles have done really well to build OL depth and other teams know it. I'd think Anderson and Awosika are at risk of being snapped up by other teams - especially because other teams know the Eagles are deep at OL and would value a Stoutland-trained OL.

Kaplan and Mosher are well connected in the NFL and think Covey makes the team. I haven't seen enough in the games as either a return specialist or a WR to make me think he'll make the 53 but they do have good sources - so we'll see.

Tartt vs Blankenship vs Chachere vs Scott is another area I don't have a good feel for. It looks like Tartt may be cut but as I mentioned, that might just be contract games to avoid a fully guaranteed contract. He could be back shortly.

I already had Allen on my 53 based on how his speed translated to the field in the TD reception.  His STs Gunner work against the Dolphins cemented that decision.  He is probably one of my 48 Actives each week as a Gunner and the occasional WR snap.

Yep, and when they did keep 3 it was for very obvious reasons like Wentz not being ready for Week 1 in 2018 and then 2019 he was coming back from a back fracture.

Unless Sanders is seriously hurt, I'd just go with 3. This isn't a joke about Hurts being a RB, but he is, essentially a short yardage/RZ running back with his style of play. I don't see the need of a 4th guy with Sanders, Scott, Gainwell and then what Hurts does in the run game. They can just put someone on the PS.

End of an era

It's weird seeing people happy and doing victory laps about this

never realized his name is pretty much Ren Wren.  Maybe he needs to contact BWW to make his own Sauce Sauce.

Punter is the position with the least drop off from the #1 guy to the #32 guy. No reason ever meet their contract demands; let Buffalo have him

What ??  You are agreeing with something the Ringer said.  I thought they were low level content.

Talented team, weak division and schedule. They see the rest of the top teams in the NFC taking a step back.
