Being competitive til the end and getting back in the race means Dombrowski will use the start as an excuse and he will stay. Add on better chance at getting blue chip prospects picking higher

May 1May 1 You guys may be more abreast of this stuff than I am, but I had an interesting conversation with a baseball guy about bullpen games. How the Rays really popularized and pioneered the intentional bullpen games with their opener in 2018….how it does tax a bullpen and make their availability complicated, especially in a league where starters are going shallower and shallower into their starts year over year. And how some times use constant rolling options and AAA as a regular season strategy to functionally build a massive bullpen to circumvent the need for more innings out of the pen.
