Another smart move from the dumb organization. Move the unreliable guy to the pen instead of Ranger who doesn't get shaken, has injury issues, and who pitches better when rested.

Does anyone else think this season is already over? Getting a very Sixers vibe......with the NL West with Dodgers, Giants, Padres and Diamondbacks...seems like the only way for a NL East team to make it to the playoffs is to win the division....and well, I don't think the Phillies are going to win the division. I know, I know....long season and teams can get hot and other teams can fall off a cliff....just seems like this team WILL NOT be good enough.

They are better than they got credit for when they dipped to .500, but there is no way they win it all. The lineup just isn’t that good anymore. Zero elite bats and the smattering of good ones will always be too hot and cold to cobble together multiple October series wins.

If they went all in, they could probably get the bullpen to an acceptable place at the deadline. But I don’t think it’s worth it with this lineup.

Weird timing for this post considering they just beat the diamondbacks. Not saying you are wrong they probably wont make the playoffs but they aren't anywhere as bad as the sixers garbage

They are a couple years behind the sixers, but essentially the same trajectory. They are at the point where we realize they are still a good team but have maxed out and lack the resources to get over the top…and the cornerstone players are only going to slip backwards at this point.

So they are good enough to be in denial, but not good enough to win a championship. And then it takes a couple more years for them to no longer be good enough to be in denial.

If they can obtain a high quality reliever, this team will absolutely compete for a playoff spot with their starting pitching. I tend to think the Mets will comeback down to earth soon, similar to the Phillies last year. The NL west will also start to cannibalize themselves soon.

You'd think they would have learned their lesson......when the Phillies won the World Series, they made it back the next year, then the NLCS, then the Division then crap....seems like same thing is happening again.....World Series loss, NLCS, Division and then crap.....

I wouldn’t say over but they have major flaws that are going to catch up to them at some point. They should make the playoffs with the pitching rotation they have cause it can beat a lot of bad and mediocre teams in the regular season even if the lineup scuffles and the bullpen isn’t great. this team also is likely far better if their bullpen wasn’t a disaster in April and they could be consistent hitting the ball. Unfortunately those two things exist. Baseball has ups and downs through 162 games but also reveals what your weakness are over that time. Last year most on Twitter/ "experts”wanted to live off their record not what they saw for 2/3 of the season. But when you watched you knew their flaws would get them in the playoffs.

The Phillies are a playoff caliber team but not a Ws title team. Frankly in mlb I’m Not really sure there’s many. Dodgers, padres are the two best teams in the NL currently. I’d say Mets but i still think their rotation and bullpen is smoke and mirrors. American League is even worse. Cause Seattle and tigers are the two best teams. Both have the pitching but i think offensively they aren’t there. It’s weird time in MLB. Frankly if the Phillies went all in on BP and adding a big bat this offseason could make the case they are likely 2nd behind the dodgers in terms of the WS contender. Instead they didn’t

That's depressing as hell but probably accurate.

We could get this crap from WALKER

The D-backs have to be the most dewshy team in the majors

Crazy how quick it can change - ranger was absolutely cruising through the first two and now he can’t get anyone out

Guess he's not ready yet

Getting absolutely smoked out there

And of course the offense is making the guy with an ERA over 6 look like Sandy Koufax. This is why I don’t waste my time watching them anymore. They aren’t even a likeable team

Offense looked bad 2 out of 3 games this series. They were fortunate they won on Friday with it being as bad as it was (of course Wilson hits a 3 run bomb right after i post this)

That said discussion in Suarez is needed. He’s been bad since the end of June last year. The playoff game he grinded through but really he hasn’t looked good in a while. If he continues this his next couple starts then it is likely what you are getting from him going forward

I think he's earned more time. Note I'm not saying I think he's going to turn it around. But he has been good enough for long enough in the past that he deserves either more time to get healthy on the IL if he's still hurting or more time to figure it out on the mound if it's more mental/mechanical. If the health is fine, I think he needs at least 5 starts to settle down.

Yeah it’s why i said if he looks like this the next couple of starts i think he is just this. I’m willing to give him 3-4 more starts but if he looks like he did since the marlins game late June onward through those then i tend to think that’s was he likely is. If that’s the case, i dont what ultimately changed besides his back that would make a drop off like that.
