I’d argue Sanchez is what Phillies fans have hoped nola would be year to year with consistency. I’m not talking about his stuff. I think his stuff is legitimately better than nola but even when he’s not at his best, he fights and he doesn’t have an implosion usually. It’s very rare you see him just completely implode. Nola will have an implosion inning and year to year you are not sure if you’re gonna get the no. 2 starter you want. Going back to 2020 he’s been good then bad. Even 2017-2019 he was always good with some more dominant years. But since Covid years it’s been either good or close to 4.50 or higher ERA.

That's good because the schedule is about to get way harder. Next 7 teams they face combined record of 283-238 with only 1 below .500 team which is the Braves and the Braves are playing better recently and never roll over for the Phils anyway.

Tbh they need to be within striking distance at the end of July. The Mets from July 25 to Middle of August have a brutal schedule where the Phillies have a softer schedule than them. Mets from July 25 to middle of August: at sf (3), at SD (3), vs sf (3), vs Cleveland (3), at Milwaukee (3), vs atl (3) and vs Seattle (3). Meanwhile Phillies: At NYY (3), at White Sox (3), vs tigers (3), vs bal (3), at Texas (3), at reds (3) and at Nats (4). Besides Yankees and tigers the Phillies schedule isn’t as daunting as Mets who play all teams over .500 besides Atlanta.

The fact that this game is on Apple TV is a travesty

This team’s hitting the last 3 games and so far tonight has been crap. Even the game they won 4-2, Stott’s homer covered up for the fact the rest of the game they were just not good.

Wheeler not getting to the 6th at this rate. 61 pitches thru 3. If it becomes a bullpen game then we have issues

It’s very frustrating that the only way they score with bases loaded is a fielders choice. Never a base hit or extra base hit

Yup. Sadly wheeler at 98 pitches means likely going to need the bullpen to get 12 outs. Seems unlikely

Not looking good for sure

Yeah doesn’t help they decided to go Walker who’s not a high leverage reliever. He really should just be a long reliever but Dombrowski refuses to accept that and that he isn’t very good

I see why they did it. They were hoping he could go 2-3 innings. This is a series they must win. This is a .500 team and .500 against the division. They are what they are but the FO doesn’t see it that way

There’s two things that are a problem with Walker. His velocity and stuff is still not great. Even with him being better this year, his stuff is still not where it needs to be when they gave him that contract. Secondly he’s always seen a big drop off in the second half. So even if you got a good first half from him there was always gonna be that second half where he’s proving over his career to be significantly worse.

The only reason why he is on the team right now is because Dombrowski doesn’t want to admit and $72 million mistake and the fact he built such a **** bullpen that he is still better than the last 2 in it.

This is a loss

This umpire has been brutal

Alright reverse jinx comes through

Still gonna have to use Romano and likely Kerkering 3 nights in a row or strahm who’s not been nearly good enough

Well at 8-2 maybe we don’t. Please don’t let this get close again

F YES FINALLY!!!

This is a win

I’m sure our bullpen relishes the challenge of blowing this lead
