Pretty much the entire area is probably saying inappropriate comments to you now, Rob. He needs to go.

First time at this ballpark. Pretty nice. 95% Phillies fans 😄

Disappointing Luzardo start. 5 innings, 4 runs and 10 baserunners. I think its time to be concerned with him. Of course, the inning should have been over had the 1st base ump called strike 3 on a checked swing. Then, Graceful Kepler butchers a flyball costing them another run. Oh, and Tanner Banks stinks.

Ef this bullpen man. Wow.

Bullpen blows but this team still can’t hit consistently. It’s why they have like 3-4 good games then a week and a half where they couldn’t hit a ball off a tee ball stand

Add on Kepler’s inept fielding

It's funny how Ruben Amaro always brags about Keplers fielding. WTF games is he watching?

Honestly they should have marsh in LF. He’s an above average LF. If he hits like he has then he’s fine. I doubt he continues to hit at this pace. The issue is Kepler is redundant if marsh. LH and LF. Except he is worse then marsh besides more power. They needed and still need a RH LF/CF.

Send Mercado back down to triple aaa. He sucks.

Topper should never have sent him back out in the 6th. He had something like 91 pitches at that point. He should have absolutely been removed after the first walk in the 6th.

I’m guessing Thomson kept him in there is because the bullpen is so bad that they can’t use strahm and kerkering everyday and Romano has been awful on back to back days. As much as I want to blame Thomson, I think that came down to he hoped Luzardo could give him one extra inning because the bullpen is so bad because Dombrowski did such a Fing awful job.

I sure glad Robby T's feelings put him on the bench. That guy can't get fired fast enough.

He is arsekissing Dombrowski so that when DD goes to Nashville for the new expansion team that is coming he will be the GM

My thoughts on the Castellanos situation:

  1. In general, I do not like sub-ing out an every day player for a marginal fielding upgrade in the 8th or 9th inning of a game. It's one thing if you have a Pat Burrell or Schwarber in left and you are covering a major weakness for the last inning, but Castellanos is OK. Baseball is a highly mental, confidence based sport. I don't like the message it sends to your every day player....and the guy coming in off the bench cold, even if they are a plus fielder, is far more likely to make a mental error in that situation. (And Rojas, as talented as he is in the outfield, is not immune to those). I think you should just stick with your every day guy.

  2. Even if a player disagrees with a decision, they have to respect it. Yell at the manager in his office, but in any work or team-based profession, you need to respect the chain of command when you are in a live fire situation. Castellanos didn't do that.

  3. Thomson called him out on it. He probably didn't want to do that. Thomson isn't really the most narcissistic or thin skinned guy. He had to. The way he addressed it was brief, without posturing...he dismissed it and said it was over they move forward.

  4. Castellanos screwed up twice. When asked about it, he could have even said he disagreed with the substitution, but apologized for how he handled it and expressed the same desire to move on. That would have ended the whole thing. Instead, he gave it legs with how he responded.

Boom again dare i say… season saved

Just saying the analytics on Castellanos fielding are awful. He’s in the 1% which means he is one of the worst defensive players in baseball. They were right to put Rojas into the game as the marlins have one of the largest outfields to cover.

Why, after all these years, does Rob pick this time to pull Nick out of a game for defensive purposes? We all know he isn't good, yet he wasn't pulled in any playoff games for defensive purposes which ya know, have a lot more meaning than a regular season game against the Marlins. That's the biggest beef I have with the whole situation.

I really don’t have a problem with Thomson doing it. Castellanos is bad defensively. he’s gotten to the point that he is the worst he has been in his time with the Phillies. Currently cause our other outfield spots hitting is not good, his hitting overshadows and we over look how awful his defense truly is. I’m guessing it also played into a close game and marlins outfield is bigger compared to a lot of parks

The issue to me is Rob needs to not pick and choose things like this. Like if you’re gonna be a hard ass, then you better be a hard ass when we have guys doing stupid things on the base paths and bench guys. I’m tired of seeing a guys get thrown out because doing something stupid. That crap has been going on since kapler

Yup. From the athletic article

There were times he deserved to hit 7th or lower. Frankly he’s not a cleanup hitter and really he’s probably best if he’s your 6th hole hitter. After this year he has 1 year left at $20 mil. I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s dealt as for 1 year and $20 mil he is likely worth it for a team for one season.

lol this team makes the dumbest base running mistakes
