Has any starting rotation in baseball history had a bigger gap between their #1/2 and their #4/5 pitchers? It's comical. 1/2 starters and it's a lock for 7 innings and 1 run. 4/5 and it's a lock for 4-5 innings and hemorrhaging runs.

For a team that is so heavily dependent on pitching with a soft lineup, that's a guarantee to hover around .500. You'll drop some tough ones with your horses on the mound and steal a couple high scoring madness games with your lousy pitchers.

That sort of hones in on Luzardo to be the guy that moves the needle. He's the difference between being overwhelmingly likely to win or lose more than half the games.

Im kinda liking Marsh in the cleanup spot. Not the ideal guy but hes the best they have to do it. Just keep him there.

The best move Dombrowski might have made this off-season was not getting an actual platoon for marsh and just going with Otto kemp. Because it’s forced them to have to play him against the left-handed pitching.

The walks in the 5th killed him today. Up to that point he wasn't great but it was an outing we could have lived with.

They frankly need to play him when they face playoff caliber teams with good left handers and just let him hit. So you can at least know against good lefties what he looks like against them. in the playoffs, if you put him in the cleanup spot and he winds up showing he can’t hit good left-handed pitching, the issues gonna wind up being you’re gonna have to remove him from the game and put in Sosa in a big spot and stick with Sosa for the rest of the game. that’s not ideal.

Really sucks we don't have a viable 4th starter. Having a **** 5th starter is one thing but when you have to deal with two crappy pitchers in your rotation it makes it WAY tougher.

id be really surprised if we don’t add a LHP at the deadline considering Alvarado and banks haven’t been very good

All the "good ones" are in the lower levels. Honestly, if someone is willing to bite on either Painter or Miller, I would dump them. One guy is 6'6 but pitches like he's 5'10 and the other one has a chronic, balky back. Would a GM take a chance on either one? I guess but you would have to hope there is a GM dumber than Dumbrowski out there. Guy has been here 6 seasons now and 6 seasons later, they don't have anyone in their Triple AAA to help with the big-league club. The Braves and Dodgers lose a guy, and they bring up someone from their farm and don't miss a beat. Freakin pathetic.

At this point, I don’t care about Painter or Miller and have no expectations for either…but trading them now would be unloading at absolute rock bottom of their value. Either one gets you about the value of a decent MLB reliever right now. Not long ago, they were centerpiece value.
