Nola looks much better in the second inning. Was getting ahead of hitters and not behind

JT contract looks worse from an offensive perspective. cause Victor Caratini was a FA and is making just $7 mil has a higher avg, OBP, SLG, OPS, and RBIs than JT. Same Amount of HRs

Nice piece of hitting by Stott. I thought that was a strike when they went to challenge it so credit to him for good eye then hitting the double.

I still have zero confidence in them being able to hit in the playoffs, but yesterday I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt. I have never seen a pitcher like that in my entire life. He made our entire team look like 9th graders. Never seen anything like it.

It's weird when you break character don't do that anymore

Yup he got behind on 2 of the first 3 hitters and 2 of 3 made him pay.

If you tell me what to do again, I own 36 acres. I already know where you live so you won’t even see it coming. But I will put you in a bunker with 2 armpit tickle specialists while you’re chained up, then when you think the torture is over, you will be placed in my brazen bull and cooked to perfection. What do you think happened to @olsilverhair ?

The minute I post…….Nola gives up his notorious bomb when the team is up multiple runs. Is he the worst contract in Phillies history? Someone would need to correct me, but I feel like we are stuck with him for 5 years after this with no way out unless Howie takes over the team.

Got 4 more years after this. Nola’s probably the worse however got like 7 more for Turner so he might very well get to Nola-esque in a year or two

Ofc nola blows a 3-0 lead

Was a heck of a catch by Sosa. I thought he hurt his glove hand when he caught it.

Ever ball put in play this inning has been hit hard

5 more years

Forgot about Turner. He’s borderline useless this season without a high batting average since he swings at balls out of the zone every at bat. His ability to steal bases will get worse every year too.

Well that took a wicked turn.... Poor @olsilverhair never stood a chance on the emb or that 36 acres you call a yard.

Turner’s contract is way more understandable. He was still in his prime when they signed him.  They also had no shortstop on the roster or close in the minor leagues unless you were moving Stott to SS. Nola they didn’t need to sign that type of deal. you still had Ranger Suarez under contract. I would add that free agency Blake Snell sat out there all off-season and he only got a two-year contract. That would’ve been the better alternative even if he stunk cause you were only in it for 2 years. whereas Nola, you were stuck in it for seven and you knew at least the last 2 to 3 were gonna be bad.

Turner just needs another standing ovation

To be fair, I was always hesitant on signing Ranger long-term. Dude has proven that he gets minor injuries constantly when Nola has honestly been a workhorse. However, I couldn’t believe the Nola contract. I think the Braves honestly just f’d with Dombrowski and pretended they had a 6 year deal on the table for him.

Nolas start doesn't look too bad now if they don't give up anymore

I’ve said this before, the only ones that reported the Braves gave him a 6+ year deal was a Phillies reporter after he signed the contract. That felt like his agent and Phillies put it out there to soften the blow that people are like why are you giving him a seven year contract. When you go look at the Atlanta Braves, they’ve had guys with better war than Nola and they haven’t gone over four years per contract. Frankly, I think they gave him a four-year contract with 2 club options for a year 5 and 6 that they were never gonna touch unless he was still great/good after year 4

When they traded for luzardo, they made the decision they weren’t gonna re-sign Ranger Suarez. My whole issue that off-season with Nola was go sign Blake snell even if it’s a two or three year contract. I don’t wanna get into a contract over 4 years with Nola. Even if snell failed it was going be a lesser contract because people were so concerned about his durability.

Good job by Bryce to power that deep enough (that’s what she said!). His swings in previous two at bats and early in the one weren’t close.
