EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

We similarly beat New Orleans, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Carolina, and the Rams in the playoffs.

We weren't consistently dominant last season.

Another weird one last year was Cincinnati. The score made it look like an easy romp but in that game, our defense never forced a single punt. There were moments in that game that the Bengals seemed to move the ball at will.

I think "40-6" has distorted the memory of what last year was really like.

Yup and they struggled with Cleveland last year as well. I believe that was right after the bye too.

I thought tonight the offense looked extremely rusty. They might need to up the practices and intensity on the offense.

I dont know the thinking but maybe because GB had no timeouts and the way the defense was playing he thought going for it on 4th wouldn't hurt them.

I wonder if GB had even just 1 timeout left if they would have punted instead. They still should have regardless but luckily it worked out.

I don't hate the call. I hate that we didn't execute it. First down there ends the game. Kicking it, you might get 15 more yards. The Eagles defense makes you methodically work down the field so it was going to be near impossible for them to drive into legit field goal range in time and that's how the game played out. So, I don't hate trying to take a shot at ending it there.

Final Packers Game Score Prediction Results

A total of 54 predictions were recorded with 6 for a Packers win and 47 for an Eagles win.

It comes as no surprise that no one was close to the 10-7 final score, but @b_west3's 23-16 prediction was the closest, and wins the chicken dinner.

The following Bonus predictions were correct or close to correct

@Alpha_TATEr was half right with his "The defense locks it down. Mitchell has a late INT to seal it"

@devpool was mostly right with his "I don't think GB is dangerous, however they're coming off a huge disappointment at home. They'll be looking to bounce back so we'll be getting their best between that and us being defending champs."

@greendestiny27 got what he hoped for with his "Bad vibe about this one unfortunately, hopefully it's just me."

@Iggles_Phan was prophetic with "Nail biter, down to the final gun. I manage to stay awake until the end of the game."

I guess @JohnB was right with "Our weapons on offense keep the Packers guessing"

@LacesOut was spot on with his "3 sacks for the Iggles D"

@RLC's confidence was well paced with his "I feel surprisingly confident that we'll beat the Packers. I'm way more worried about the Lions game." The second half of his Bonus is yet to play out.

and

@Talkingbirds got the first part of his prediction right with "Packers try to tie up score with long FG, but it’s wide right. Eagles victory formation eats rest of the clock."

Monday Morning Eagles-Lions Game Score Predictions

Week Eleven has the 37th meeting between the Eagles and Lions. The current Regular Season series stands at Eagles with 18 wins, the Lions with 16 wins, and there have been 2 Ties. They have met only once in the Playoffs with the Eagles winning that 58-37 shootout. So the overall record is Eagles 19 wins and the Lions 16 wins.

As we do each week, we are gathering Game Score predictions. As always, please tag your prediction post with @mattwill that way I will be sure to see/record it.  Score predictions can also have an optional "Bonus Pick" tiebreaker prediction.  I will be taking predictions right up until Kickoff. If someone posts a prediction without a tag, please reply to it including the @mattwill tag.

@b_west3 was the winner of the Week Ten chicken dinner with a not very close Eagles 23 Packers 16 prediction, but no one was closer.

You know I made fun of the Broncos and the Raiders on Thursday night for their 10-7 game and now my Eagles win 10-7.

I jumped straight to the negative but man the defense balled out. Jaelan Phillips is the piece we've been missing. A synergistic piece too. Ran Love right into Hunt for that big sack. Around the ball like it owed him money. I feel sorry for the teams we're playing the rest of the season.

I can't wait for Phillips to feel the energy at the Linc and feed off it.

Saquan Barkley will very soon be averaging under 4 yards per carry. When your feature RB averages under 4 yards per carry, you are either a passing team or you are a very bad offense.

The coaches and Jalen Hurts have the second half of this season to decide which of those two things they are going to be. It’s multiple choice with 2 answers. The running game is what it is for this year. They either reinvent themselves as a passing team again or they accept their identity as a crappy offense and go nowhere. They had one historic and never to be replicated season of ground dominance.

It’s over. And they have a decision to make. Literally continue to bash their collective heads into a wall of futility or change the approach.

The more I try to understand this team the more confused I get. Idk how a team that leads the league in 3 and outs is holding on to the one seed in the nfc. My eyes tell me something is fundamentally flawed but they keep winning and it’s against very good teams not scrubs. Gonna sound weird but this team is the "Jalen Hurts” of the NFL ‘ flawed but somehow wins.

Defense obviously played great but just to remind everybody GB had no weapons missing Kraft, Reed and Golden. Detroit will be a different animal.

IMO one of the main problems with the offense is they are trying to replicate 2024 with a power runing game but the 2025 OL isn't even close to the 2024 OL. It can't be done.

Stopped reading when I saw the but. They still have one of the best RB's in the league and Jordan Love is supposed to be an elite QB. The defense balled the F out, PERIOD, END OF STORY.

Bad calls to go for it on 4th and also not running the clock the previous possession. In any case, this was a gritty win against a good team in really cold weather and in a very hard place to play.

Keep racking up wins. On to the Detroit game which will be an entirely different affair.

The surrender draw on 3rd and anything longer than 9 yards is just absolutely infuriating. They had to have run it at least three times last night. And then of course Jalen hits DeVonta for an easy conversion on the 3rd and long in the 4th quarter.

Depends on the circumstances. Sometimes it is the right move.

Jalen Carter made the key play with his penetration on the 4th down run allowing Phillips to take down Jacobs behind the line.

I think Jordan Love is "supposed” to be an elite QB in the same way I’m "supposed” to be married to Paige Spiranac.

3rd and 20, okay. Running it on 3rd and 12 with the weapons this team has and how flag happy refs are is unacceptable, IMO.

I'll agree in most cases but sometimes I'll disagree. An example would be if you're deep in your own territory in a low scoring game with cold and windy conditions. The Shipley play was 3rd and 14 from the 17 yard line which I thought was perfectly ok to call at that point.

Not end of story. The offense sucked….again…and that wont be good enough to beat the Lions

After having some time to sleep on it, in hindsight, I’m encouraged by last night’s win…

Given the type of defensive battle it was, when looking at games like this, one way to analyze the offensive performance is to compare how each offense performed and when you do that, the Eagles offense out performed Green Bay’s offense in just about every category.

When you think about how good both defenses were playing, it’s somewhat refreshing to know that we’re more than capable of winning and grinding out tough games like last night - away game, against one of the top teams in the NFL, tough crowd in very cold, windy and difficult conditions.

  • Not Hurts’ best game but as usual was clutch enough to grind it out, with some decent plays mixed in.

  • Saquon was one of the offensive MVP’s. The stat line this morning may not show it but he made some clutch first down runs and a huge run after the catch.

  • Offensive line was solid run blocking and did just enough pass blocking against a d-line that included Parsons.

  • Goedert was solid

  • Smitty, another offensive MVP with his incredible over the top catch - he’s so good he almost made it look easy.

So overall, given the defensive battle it was, conditions and the way both defenses were playing - not a bad win after all.

And yes - the defense were the overall MVP’s of this game - too many good plays and stops to mention them all. Kudos to them.

Through 9 games who would you all say is the MVP of the team?

I’m going Davonta

If they can get after Goff he will fold. Little nervous about their rb duo

They have a terrific offense Gibbs, Montgomery, St. Brown, Williams, LaPorta - tons of fire power. Go for it a ton on 4th down. The key like you said is getting to Goff and hitting him.

Their Defense certainly shouldn’t cause as much problems as Green Bay’s.
