Either Wicks or Lemon are going to put up Dotson-like numbers over the next 2 years.

I doubt that unless AJ is kept this year. You really don’t realize how bad a route runner Dotson was. I would watch the All22 and actually note when Dotson got separation. Glad to see him go. Lemon’s quickness and moves are the polar opposite of Dotson. Wicks actually knows how to come out of breaks.

Steelers fans think otherwise. Howard is Tom Brady 2.0 and Allar and him will be must see TV to see who’s better.

Yup

We're victims of success. The things we complain about, other teams would love to have. We won our division with a dead stick at OC.

Three years ago now, we complained because Hurts was one of the biggest turnover machines we'd ever seen. He was leading the league in turnovers. The last two years, he's led the league in fewest total turnovers. I think he's a little too risk averse at times but they're winning.

To put it in perspective, they are 2nd behind the Bills in total regular season wins the last 5 years. 3rd in total wins including playoffs. 2022 and 2024 were the most wins in franchise history to date.

We complained that this team relied too heavily on the QB and they built a team that is versatile. A team that doesn't need the QB to bail it out every drive. Hurts does a very good job of being a game manager and then being able to elevate on the biggest stages.

The grass is very Kelly green on this side of the fence. You just don't notice it because you haven't looked at the wasteland on the other side of the fence enough.

Trust me, there are 25 other teams that would love to be us.

Is someone going to go through the league to fact check this too? lol

I don't see why not. Boutte was the X WR for New England.

That makes one a starting X WR (which we do not have on our roster yet), and the other one quality depth. It's not like they're the same player.

I think it's pretty clear given they traded picks for Wicks and the money they gave him he's going to be a top 3 WR for them this upcoming season. That isn't something you do for a WR4 or 5.

You think Wicks and Lemon on the field together won’t create a congestion issue?

Everyone thought Jeffery and JJAW would be great together too.

Why would they? They're completely different receivers.

Wicks will be the X i guess. Rather uninspiring but a band aid familiar with the system

JJAW was ass and Alshon basically had no legs by that point.

That being said, I don’t understand the affinity with Wicks. He’ll be on the team one year unless Lemon really sucks. I don’t care what his contract says. He was traded for incase they didn’t get their WR in the draft.

I’m expecting mostly 12 personnel.

Most teams don’t have two WR1s.

I think he is, until he isn't. I'm hoping he isn't.

Yeah but serious teams shouldn't have their starting X with the talent level of a WR4.

Is Wicks even a WR3?

These WR takes are hysterical.

We really going to pretend that a Smith, Wicks, Lemon wr corps is scaring defenses? They’ll be stacking the box more than they already do.

Nah smitty lemon and stowers with saquon on the field is plenty dangerous.

Team will challenge us to pass. We will see if they can execute it. Lots of blitzes coming

I've heard that one of Lemon's positives is he knows how to handle the scramble drill well, feeding into a Tyler Lockett comparison. I expect that Jalen will run more this year, but if he gets back into the rolling out to the right rut - at least Lemon is known for not giving up on the play.

I was told this in 2019 too. The offense sucked last year. Plenty dangerous is a pretty speculative and optimistic term for a couple rookies, a proven bad wr, and a young coach with no play calling experience as our new offensive transformation.

Eagles have a stacked WR Group (may include Stowers in this), where Darius Cooper and Johnny Wilson are 5th & 6th WRs or 6th & 7th on the depth chart. Been saying Boutte could be coming in that AJ trade as well. It's possible Howie is collecting assets that he could use in a trade later for safety etc. A good problem to have, after everyone panicked before the offseason what we would do at WR. I trust the coaches have a way better plan this year in how to utilize these weapons. This is a really solid receiver group coming in here.

It's a complete philosophical switch. We had our top guy in the X, smitty in the Z, garbage in the Y (either Dotson running awful routes or a guy who can block), and a traditional in-line TE.

We're taking a big downgrade at X (albeit less than people think with how much Brown half-assed last year), keeping Smitty at Z, drafted the best Y in the class at 1 and the best Flex TE at 2.

Given how stagnant the offense has looked I don't hate mixing it up. Only time will tell if Hurts/Siri/Mannion can pull it off though. It's fair to point out that Hurts has not been one to target the center of the field often. It's also fair to point out that we've had elite perimeter receivers and practice squad level slot receivers since he's been here. So we'll see.

I think the counter point is that many of us realize this team has a wealth of talented players. We are in an era of historic success with one of the most talented rosters the team has had. Many of us remember the years where Reid and the Eagles seemed to have the roster talent but were unwilling to add the final piece. Most of us remember the 91 season where a healthy Randall makes that team a Super Bowl contender. It is hard to maintain the talent level. NFL careers are short. The salary cap limits the ability to keep rosters in tact. This team should have been in position to win a Championship last season but for, in my opinion, the coaching and injuries to the o-line. Hurts was a limiting factor or certainly not a solution for the offense last season.

Why did you leave out Hollywood Brown? And Goedert and Stowers? And Saquon Barkley in the backfield? The total offense is what the defense has to respond to. (I'm not arguing how the WR group will perform without AJ Brown one way or the other, but why leave out players?)

Best video I have seen for Lemon.

They didn't stack the box last year.

And you don't need a bunch of 4.3 guys to throw deep

2019 you had a completely washed Alshon Jeffrey and a Nelson Agholor who at that point had fully reverted back to his bust form.

Because the blog falls into the trap of listing every single offensive skill position on the roster as if the defense has to simultaneously cover all of them. Hurts can barely see more than 2 of them in the first place. We forget why this offense was so top heavy.

Smith, Wicks, Lemon, Hollywood Brown, Goedert, and Stowers are 6 players. They aren't all going on the field together. Hollywood Brown, as much as I liked him as a draft prospect, will almost never play. If Stowers is on the field, it means that vaunted WR depth becomes irrelevant, because it'll only be a very not scary and not field stretching Smith/Lemon on the field, so dealing with Stowers' speed isn't all that difficult then. And with Stowers' blocking, 12 personnel with those WRs really just because 11 personnel with Stowers as the slot.
