I think part a lot of his problem was more lacking the mentality of a football player, and having divided attention.

I responded to a post of yours in another thread that listed examples of guys with split careers and it never works out. Chad Hall, Jeremy Bloom, and Devon Allen all at the WR position, and of course Danny Watkins. You can be a part time NFL player. Working in politics worked for him in college, but you cant do the NFL unless you are 100% in.

Extracurriculars in any industry are viewed through the lens of performance. In high performers, it shows they are talented, well rounded, and reliable, In low performers, it’s a distraction and lack of commitment.

I think part of the idea of moving to a Shanahan style offense is that the offense is less match up dependent. It's not about beating one on one coverage. It's about using play-action, misdirection and motion and leverage to get players open. For example, a throw back to the TE is a common Shanahan play. The play isn't about athletic TE's as much as getting the defense going in the opposite direction of the throw. Also, I don't think the TE is asked to block one on one nearly as much in the run scheme. It's usually about setting the edged with the OT and moving upfield in outside zone. So it's not like you will see Stowers used like Calcaterra as a lead blocker (or whiffer) as much.

I think one reason they want to move Brown out is b/c they want to spread the ball around a lot more and be less predictable.

And Brown sulked when he wasn't targeted 10 times a game.

So it's likely they get the ball to 4 WRs, 2 TEs, and 2 RBs. No more 4 deep routes. Quicker separation instead of slow developing routes. No forcing the ball to your star WRs b/c Dotson is MIA.

I also think there will be more 3 and 5 step drops, taking pressure off the OL, especially when Lane gets dinged (almost a guarantee) or the interior is struggling.

Hurts gets a lot of abuse, but that was not a good enough OL, nor were they able to run and get into 2nd and 5, 2nd and 6 situations that makes play action viable or gives the QB easy 1at down passes.

Too many 3rd and long plays with deep routes that required Hurts to buy time as his pocket collapsed.

Has a minicamp invite every made the final roster. In fact, how many have even made it to the PS.

I cant remember if Blankenship was UDFA or a camp invite. But he said he got 5,000 dollars so that sounds more like a camp invite to me.

I find it amusing that DAL and PHI worked together to F PIT...PHI is known for swooping in a pick before someone and getting their preferred player, DAL did it with Micah and Caleb (last two times I remember, there may be a few others). For DAL to reach out to a rival (if this is what really happened, and I am not 100% sure it really did) is cool for the division. It would have been much cooler to do it to WAS or NYG 🤣.

The former Oilers fan in me was laughing his ass off about Pittsburgh getting the shaft. Mike Renfro was inbounds.

Weird caption for that video. He doesn't mention or reference Hurts at all. Talks about potential trade compensation and how teams view AJ as an injury issue that they expect to break down soon. Funny though that HazeltonEagle doesn't even watch the video but just sees a caption of Hurts hate so he quickly hits the like button.

I hear that right that Breer said Howie would be ok with a 2028 first rounder and 2027 2nd?

Probably best we can do

Don’t know. When signed to the 90, they get recorded as UDFAs, although occasionally a street vet participates and if signed show up as a UFA so I would know how to check.

Nice! I saw the chiefs nab him right after the draft.

I really need JT Clark. Havent seen any news on him at all.

No. I am not hearing an extra 2nd rounder for AJ. I think that's pipe dreaming. More like just a 1st rounder and in 2028. He compared that alot of GMs see this as more like Stefan Diggs compensation than Quinnen Williams compensation. 2nd rounder and change for Diggs cuz of age and AJ brown being a bigger guy who could potentially be declining. If Howie gets any 1st rounder for Brown it's a huge win. And throw in Boutte (who I will use in trade for a safety). Eagles easily may have to send back a couple lower picks to get this 1st rounder. Doubt it's straight up.

I did say before Brown was extended that his brand of talent and playing style would not age well. I was uniformly dismissed and told I was wrong. Now everyone is talking about how steeply he has declined and will be a shell moving forward.

I still think he’s going to be on a definitive decline, next year included. But we don’t need to replace the diminished 2026 Brown. We need a good offense again. So we are still trying to replace prime Brown, even if that guy was gone either way.

Anyone else getting a sucky signal on TBS?

I am not 100% sure Ojomo isn't an Eagle in 2027, if no extension for JC this offseason. Think about it, if you can sign MO for $20M or JC for $40M, which one do you do? Need to not extend JC this offseason for optionality and to merely see if JC rebounds from 2 bum shoulders and plays hard disciplined football.

They already picked up Carters fully guaranteed $27M 5th year option. There is no chance they pay Davis $25M, Carter $27M all in one year and Ojomo at $20M.

The only way they extend Ojomo is moving Carter at some point between now and the start of the next offseason.

Oh c’mon. No you weren’t.

That would be a great return. We would be trading him for more than it took to get him and he played here in his prime.

If anyone would criticize Brown for being a guy that wouldn't age well during the peak of his popularity, who would it be?

That’s awful. There is no excitement, tension, joy, or heartbreak in that. Truly, I feel sorry for you.

There is no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It is all a Dream, a grotesque and foolish dream. Also the Eagles will probably suck next season.

Let's not go that far. I just hate not being in control.

I mean, I said the same thing about Brown, as far as back as when people were worried about paying both him and Smith. That’s how I know you’re wrong.

Sorry I only believe in hyperbole.

Which part?

That you were uniformly dismissed and told you were wrong that Brown’s game wouldn’t age well. I posted the same opinion well before his second extension with the Eagles amd many times afterward. I wasn’t uniformly dismissed and told I was wrong. I think you’re taking on a bit of a martyr complex.
