They didn’t plan for it but has taken over the game to an unhealthy level. I’ve always said I wanted two quarters with the 3 and two without. I think it would go a long way to balancing things out.Totally agree on the college thing. Not sure there is a good solution. Kids deserve comp but that then changes things.Seems like that would be the worst of both worlds. Teams would construct a roster to launch even MORE threes in the limited two quarters where they are allowed and then clog the lane with a bunch of shot blockers and force teams to take long 2’s in the other two quarters.

I see it more like two quarters of old school ball with post ups, mid range jumpers, intricate passing schemes, etc. and then two quarters of what we just saw from Boston. Some teams may load up on one approach but the best teams would be able to play both styles and have a bench that can support that approach.

So we all just wait and see.I don't think Howie is doing it for only a 2028 1st. I'd expect a 2027 pick as well.
May 4May 4 2027 1st and 2028 3rd or 2027 2nd and 2028 1st. Anything less would be unacceptable and Howie won't do it. Get that 2027 1st, Howie.

I could see them making it the day after the draft, but get things moving and allow the players to get into mini camps. It seems like waiting just to wait at this point.

You can then push the 3 point line back and force teams to play more strategically. And maybe not call every ticky tack foul. That’s just my opinion. I loved the nba growing up in the 90s but it’s just becoming gradually more and more unwatchable. Regular season (to me) compares to preseason NFL

It seems like waiting just to wait at this point.Well, you can waive up to 2 players before June 1 and designate it a post June 1 cut. This allows the player to find a new team, but the team cutting him carries the current year cap hit until June 1. But allows the money to be spread. No such post June 1 designation exists for trades.Lower spending teams will fight for this - they don't want to give high spending teams like the Eagles more cap flexibility. So keep the June 1 date with the theory it punishes teams with large deferred cap hits to wait and get less trade compensation.
May 4May 4 If a Patriots player is included in the trade that is a decent enough player to contribute this year, that would help with some immediate impact if the 1st is in 2028.
