Since it’s Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, I wanted to say something that’s been on my mind. Most of us spend a lot of time talking about football, our families, work, hobbies, and whatever else

That is the team that is almost too obvious now to go completely sideways this season along with the Patriots. The Golden Boy HC with the Golden Boy QB and now the Goldne Boy OC. Watch that offense end up being the weakness of the team again.

At least the Phillies won something in the current century.

Nah.

Lemon starts in the slot with AJ Brown & Smith on the outside - with Hollywood Brown in 4 WR sets etc

The head scratcher would still be the Wicks trade - that’s the only guy that wouldn’t really fit in unless they play him at TE.

There’s almost zero logic to this. Trade up for a slot receiver who will ultimately get about 2 targets a game? Then use the next pick on a TE who is essentially a big slot?

Brown is gone. I have little doubt that the trade is already in place.

I don't think anyone was actually "pining" for McCarthy, I think we were just looking for anyone that WASNT Kevin Patullo

Recently had this convo with a friend…

Top 5 athletes of your lifetime. I don’t remember anything before the early 90s so I’m starting there.

Mine…

  1. Michael Jordan (easy number 1)

  2. Tiger Woods

  3. Serena Williams

  4. Michael Phelps

  5. Barry Bonds

Honorable mentions were Tom Brady, Usain Bolt, and Messi. Can probably throw Federer in there.

Good list for The era you’ve defined except for Bonds, any of your Honorable Mentions could go in his place. I would have to go with Brady. I would also have Kobe Bryant as HM. Bonds was a great ball player, without the steroid scandal. The perjury and obstruction indictments that came from that just eliminate him from consideration for me.

I was thinking the exact opposite. He looks like a starfish, but he's a cat.

When he’s older and retired he’s going to look more and more like Redd Foxx. He already looks like a younger Redd.

I think folks were pining for an OC with experience, as KP almost single-handily wrecked the offense through his incompetence… or at least that is how the story goes until we hired Mannion.

That's a pretty good list, save for #5. He's a cheat. Messi easily moves up.

Being much older, I'd have to put Wilt in there somewhere. Number 1 obviously goes to Ali.

I didn't know that they were college roommates. That is pretty cool.

I was told very passionately that Andy Dalton is a 100% lock to make the roster.

Maybe part of his theory is trading Hurts and going with Tanner for a trial year. Lol 😆

I’ll go

LeBron (Easy number 1)

MJ

Barry

Tiger

And unfortunately Brady

Maybe that wasn’t the plan but if something goes sideways with the rumored trades, etc the Eagles can still find a way to make it work.

How are you defining "top athletes”? Your list appears to be most accomplished.

Bonds would be automatically disqualified for steroid use. Woods for the same reason, unless we believe all his accumulated injuries can be attributed to picking up random skanks at Applebee’s.

Federer isn’t even as accomplished (or as good) as Nadal and Djokovic, two of his contemporaries. Pete Sampras was also better, IMO. Serena Williams is perhaps a top 5 women’s player. Navratilova, Evert and Graf were all better, and Margaret Smith-Court has the most all-time grand slam singles titles, while having to go through Billie-Jean King and Evert to do it. Williams bested her sister and Maria Sharapova, for the most part.

Very passionately?! You and stare into each other’s eyes the whole time?

It’s my list…

And I don’t give two craps about steroids. I really don’t. Almost everyone was doing it so who cares. People think you just shoot up and instantly turn into captain America… you still have to train like crazy.

I don’t think we’ll see any baseball player ever again get intentionally walked with the bases loaded. Bonds’ numbers are just freakish. That’s why I put him in.

It’s wrong and they know it’s wrong, and they choose to cheat. No different than Lance Armstrong, Marion Jones, FloJo and Brady.

Ken Griffey Jr. is the best all-around baseball player I’ve ever watched, and he managed to do it while clean (ostensibly)

Any athlete list without Ben VanSumeren as #1 is just wrong

Although he likely won’t make a ton of all time lists because of an injury shortened career - a pure athlete who could have had "all time” careers in both the NFL and MLB was Bo Jackson.

Just now, LeanMeanGM said:

Could have been Bo Jackson 2.0
