Legend? He was a starter for 3 seasons before being replaced by a real Eagles legend, Foles.

Our history isn't exactly full of legends at the QB position. 😁

They like him in the playoffs and are seeing his overall play through that lense probably. But 3 out of his last 6 years are poor. Including missing extra points. And not having a kicker who is more consistent from 50 and out is quite the handicap, comparatively speaking with top NFL teams. You cant even trot him out there for a 60 yarder realistically. His 40-49 yard range even dipped last year (7-10 for 70%). That should be closer to 85%. Plenty of kickers lose it by their early 30s. The trend with him is just looking awful. I think he's cooked.

I'll be honest, I just don't think being able to hit a reliable 60 yard field goal will ever mean that much to me, get an offense that doesn't stall in your own half in a two minute drill so you're not relying on making stupid long field goals at the half.

Starting his rookie year, Elliott has missed 8, 7, 6, 7, 3, 5, 3, 9 and 8 kicks in each of the years of his career. Part of why it feels like he has been so bad the past two seasons is he was so good the prior three. He has certainly not been as proficient the past two years, and has had some bad cold streaks, but he is only 31 years old and I just don't think the sky is falling.

I always felt like he misses the chip shots but gets the long ones. Asking AI for a detailed list kind of proved me wrong

2017 Season (5 Misses)

But how many attempts were there each year? I feel like the past few years he's been trusted less and less and they don't even trot him out there as much.

That's six. Barkley, Coop, Baun, Q, Hurts, and now Carter. Will Lane show up next?

BTW, the average should be 3 players per team.

The list is a joke anyways and has zero creditability

No reason we should have anyone from the Offense on that list from 2025.

The NFL Top 100 is a popularity contest voted on by other players. People debate the rankings every year. Same as how the Pro Bowl is popularity and name recognition.

All Pro is more impressive.

I agree that's low on my list here as well for expectations out of my kicker. But he's slipping at 40 & 50 as well. Though, it does make me jelly that Aubrey hit three 60 yarders last year. I think Jake is just very limited at this point and can easily cost you a game. Missed extra point in 49ers playoff game proved costly with potential options at the end of the game. Down 4 instead of 3. Could have kicked a game tying FG there.

He just needs to be fundamentally sound with just the basic expectations of his job and he clearly isn't at this point. Dude may have lost his confidence, as Clay has mentioned with his body language etc. I've always heard excuses for this guy, whether it be having a new holder, a new snapper, etc. There's always the next Cameron Dicker out there to uncover, who just needs a chance. I think their eyes are not open on this one. I'd give him the first 4-6 games to see if this spiraling continues.

Just to be clear, the numbers I listed for number of missed kicks each year included both field goals and extra points -- it was total kicks missed.

I've seen kickers have off seasons at 30, but they're rarely completely cooked at that point. It is rare for kickers to be done before 34 or 35, and a surprising number last well past that. Of course, guys can lose it and/or go through slumps, possibly in some cases because of nagging injuries (especially in their 30s).

He could bounce back, but that's what we said last year. Trend is not your friend.

Two years ago was the most attempts he ever had (84: 36 FGA + 48 EP), and last year was 5th (69: 27 FGA + 42 EP), out of 9 years. The reduction last year I attribute to the offense being worse overall than any conscious lack of trust in him. (They probably kick FG less than most teams because they virtually always go for it on 4th and 1, and very often on 4th and 2.)

There are definitely better kickers than him in the league, and I'd be happier if the Eagles had one of them ... I'd certainly like to see him make a higher percentage of kicks, but he is just not my biggest concern. If he had made, say, just two more kicks each of the last two years, I don't think he would even be a point of discussion.

With Cooper and Moore flashing strongly in camp, I’ll throw out a trade, Hollywood Brown and a 5th for Jackson Powers Johnson. Raiders WRs are pretty weak, they could use a WR, they were rumored to be shopping JPJ last year. Would allow the Eagles to carry 5 WRs or 6 if they insist on keeping Wilson who they seem to like more than any of us.

I think you are taking a very laid back approach here. 2 missed kicks is like 9 percent of his attempts last year. Could be 2 losses in theory. Probably needs more like 3/4 kicks made from being 85% or more which is the standard for a good kicker. Only a matter of time before he loses you a big game, like he did in 49ers game. I like winning on the margins. This is an easy and cheap way to do so. Just need a middle of the pack kicker and you have already improved from what you had. Ranked 32nd out of 36 kickers last year. Only 32 teams in the league. LOL

And there's no doubt that there's been games where Sirianni has shunned Elliott on attempting kicks from 50 and out. Sirianni has gotten trigger happy as well in going for it on 4th down. Think if he has a reliable kicker he would have more chances.
