I wonder if Cooper challenges Wicks for that outside starting WR spot or if takes that starting slot job to start the season with Lemon basically missing all of OTAs and training camp/preseason now and then it's up to Lemon to try to win snaps over Cooper the rest of the way with how he plays with the opportunities I'm sure the Eagles would still try to give him.

The question of the WR group will be, if Wicks proves to be a solid WR2 who may even be a high end WR2 for certain teams- Im thinking on par with a Jalen Nailor contract from this spring- is that something the eagles can afford?

Or, is Wicks going to be a rental this year and next, in which case the eagles need to be searching for their next X as soon as next march/april.

Yes, that’s why I was talking about WRs vis-à-vis the draft a few days back.

Wicks is either going to under perform his contract, in which case he’s gone in 2 years, or he’s going to outperform it, in which case he’s also gone in 2 years.

My hope is that we look for someone who is both big and fast to replace him; the team has enough route running technicians with Smith and Lemon. We need an athlete who is going to overwhelm DBs with speed and strength.

Haven't seen @Joe Ball in awhile

I've been lurking...waiting (like everyone else) for the season to start. Been a quiet offseason here so I decided to visit the Death Star, they took my scythe but let me go 😂...now I am out here like:

What are the bad playing conditions for a kicker in a dome?

Like DiBona, you seem to be honed in on "weather" conditions, which was not the word Jake used.

Missy seems to always have an excuse. Exactly the problem. First it's the holder, then it's the snapper. And now it's playing conditions. He's just mentally weak and fragile, which are bad traits for a kicker. Every kicker has different conditions that are challenging. He's gotta grow a pair and be held accountable for his poor play.

No, because I didn't say weather. I said playing conditions. And as DiBona pointed out, Jake was terrible in domes. So what were the bad playing conditions for playing in a dome that Jake is trying to blame for his poor play?

Playing conditions could conceivably be things that would follow a player from city to city, dome or otherwise.

Playing conditions could be a personal thing, a team thing, or an organizational thing.

Jake Elliot needs more after massage tuggies. It worked for Justin Tucker

It very well may be a euphemism for issues with his snapper or holder. Or injuries to himself or one of them.

Using the phrase to encompass an issue a teammate was having would be diplomatic.

Cooper is Greg Ward 2.0.

Don't see that at all. He looks quicker and runs better routes than ward did

Per Howie, "Hope isn't a strategy." Hoping that Wicks, Cooper, and the other flotsam they had at WR would materialize into legitimate WR2/WR3 wouldn't be acceptable to him. Be happy that the guys are seizing their opportunities. But addressing WR in volume in the spring made perfect sense.

If hope isn't a strategy they would've traded for an established WR, not draft one and HOPE that he doesn't suck like the last 3 they've drafted outside of the top 10

Teams shouldn’t draft WRs?

Not what I said at all.

Hope is drafting a WR in the 6th round and hoping he becomes a legit NFL receiver. When you draft one in the 1st round it is expected he becomes a legit NFL WR. Of course it doesn't always work that way.

Not how I see it. The entire draft is hope, from start to finish. Are your odds higher the earlier you pick? Of course. But you're always hoping to get the next stud, the next HOFer, etc. It's all a crapshoot and you have to hope you hit.

This team has a terrible track record of drafting recievers outside of the top 10 over the last decade, drafting one in the 20s is all hope.

This is someone using available statistics so there's room for error but it seems pretty on par with what I was expecting.

Roughly half of first round picks are "successful", the barometer for this person's research was making the pro bowl, a good part of that is because of success rate in the top 10. So even picking in the first round, you have about a 50% chance of drafting a truly successful player.

Hope.
