I disagree … there are 6 CBs and 6 Safeties. Gush may well make it 7 CBs and 6 Safeties. All you have to do is look at a Depth Chart to confirm that … 12 names in 12 boxes.

Who has 12 names? I had 10 names in my posts.

Weru looking as good as he did is almost more promising given how much younger he is (allegedly) than Ty Robinson.

Agreed, and probably more promising than one additional Safety would be.

I think reps are important for him. I think if they think the hamstring isn't ready they should hold back but if he looks reads put him out there for a few snaps.

My belief is that for almost all questions in Life there are multiple "right” answers. As such I believe both your approach/answer and mine are both right … and to a certain extent, both wrong.

The Depth Chart has 12 names

I think the team is not really using a FB this year. So that hurts Steele's chances. Going more in to the 2 TE fad which probably gives Latu the edge over him for that reason as well as that Latu still offers that FB flexability, and maybe most of all that Latu is a STs demon.

I agree. They kept 3 TEs last season and 4 rbs. I think that's less likely this season, if for nothing else, Stowers doesn't look ready to contribute and is not going to get cut. Unless they think Steele is so good they can trade Shipley, I think they will cut him and put him on the practice squad. It's not likely some other team is going to pick him up.

Well, all these decisions are much easier when you don't have to make them.

Agreed … as is the roster at this point.

And IF someone does take Steele, I think we can find a more exciting player after everyone's cuts. I liked Steele in the draft but there are a lot of more talented RBs throughout the league and buried on depth charts.

Ill be happy with Steele, but I wont be upset if we end up with someone else either.

It appears eagles, then Browns TE Dae'Quan Wright has transferred from the NFL to LSU. Crazy times we live in.

I mean it's great for Dae'Quan. He's going to make more money probably at LSU and probably have a better chance at getting drafted.

I suspect he will be drafted pretty darn high now. He was very underrated.

How does this work for the NFL who can pay these guys hundreds of thousands of dollars. Trying to be strategic in a whirlwind UDFA signing period. Then players can just go back to college. Ruins your whole post draft signing plan, and I wonder what happens to the money.

Steele may be the guy.

Nope. He doesn’t perfectly fit the 38 criteria’s to be Nasty Nate. The award remains at 1, Nate Ilaoa

I 100% disagree … respectfully disagree, but disagree nonetheless less. Lemon starts the season on IR in my armchair GM decisions.

His availability in Week 18 is more important to me than his availability in Weeks 1-4.

JMO

For his availability in week 18 to mean anything then he needs to get out there and start playing after of missing essentially all of OTAs and training camp, outside of a few days.

Very similar amount of time to Cooper DeJean in his rookie year

I don't consider it the same thing when Lemon plays a position that is only strengthened by reps and chemistry with the QB. Lemon of course wouldn't play with Hurts in the 3rd preseason game but at least he would get some reps out there in a game in this basic vanilla version of the offense.

Cooper also wasn't given significant snaps until after the week 5 bye week because of the time missed in camp.

Agreed 100%

What position does Howie make a trade for before the regular season?

TE? If any are even available.

I have Covey going to the Practice Squad, along with the Long Snapper. It wouldn’t even surprise me if Jake Elliot goes there too. I also have Greenard and Lemon starting the season on the PUP and IR respectively for the first four weeks.

Waiving Jake would cause an over 11mm cap hit - 4.7mm this year and 6.8mm next year. No chance in hell.

Hopefully TE, CB, or S.

Stowers hasn’t done anything but they seem pretty set with Goedert and Mundt as 1 and 2 so I’m not sure from a roster construction angle they’ll want to keep 4 TEs especially if you keep the IPP guys on D. Secondary definitely could use depth upgrades. Especially if you don’t believe in Jonathan Jones and/or McWilliams

Good point, but if he ends up on the Practice Squad and eventually back on the roster, that money isn’t actually lost. Howie will just shuffle it from one bucket to another.

Of course we (as fans) have the option of rocking back in our recliner and simply ride the roller coaster. Given the fact that we are 100% powerless, it is probably wisest and most logical to enjoy the ride wherever it goes.
