I am guessing this will help teams have their PS and waiver claim players ready to practice sooner.

Wow, that a new kind of hitch route.

@HazletonEagle will be delighted to see that. It's a timing route which requires the ball to be there as soon as the WR comes out of his break -- or else it's likely an INT.

There more insider info in the comments.

In 4 days she'll have the scoops!

Cut her some slack, her best source of Alshon is in the midst of a fraud case.

Nothing on Rams recently. The Jags and Chiefs were framed as "could be interested", not that they were.

"[insert random team] could be interested in an AJ Brown trade."

"potential suitors" is the one that always makes me laugh. Literally means nothing.

In the article it states they believe those were Hail Mary type maneuvers by the eagles to get other teams involved

There are teams in need of a WR1 that should have called. Whether they hung up after Howie's asking price is another thing

There are teams that need a number one wide receiver. The issue is the compensation that you’re going to have to give the Eagles. And you were gonna have to wait until after June 1. But really the thing that doesn’t get talked about enough, is AJ Brown is going to ask for an extension at the end of 2026 or at time of trade. He only has 4 million guaranteed going into 2027 left on that contract. So it’s not just giving up the draft capital and waiting, because you know the day is coming that an extension on a 30 year-old AJ Brown is gonna kick in and it’s going to be pricey

I still think he stays but I agree that the contract along with the picks likely have deterred teams from a trade

I think teams would give him the contract if they weren’t worried about his knee. He’s had knee issues since titans and he may begin to decline significantly once the extension hits. Imo if i were chargers or chiefs I’d go in anyway. Particularly the chiefs, their window is now. If mahomes and herbert are healthy, he boosts their offenses significantly in 2026. Even if you give up a 2027 1st, likelihood is it’s a late 1st. Hard pill to swallow giving up 1st but if KC gets back to afc title game or SB then imo it’s worth it.

I think New England deal has been done for months.

But I wouldn't be shocked if there was a deal announced on June 1st with a surprise team. Whether its the Rams or Jags, or a team that was never even speculated on.

The eagles dont always leak things like this.

People under-report the contractual aspect, and I think they're also under-reporting that this is a mutual split. The Eagles decided some time ago Brown isn't getting another extension and that he's also not worth watching reading books or holding court at his locker.

I believe his performance (non-performance) against SF in the wildcard game sealed it.

Yup. I’ve said this and I think @vikas83 has as well. The line of demarcation was always at the end of 2026 for the Eagles and aj brown. So the Eagles might view it right now as we’re gonna get out a year too early than a year too late for multiple reasons. Because if they waited until the end of 2026 to get this done he could decline more or get injured then when they go to try to trade him, they’re gonna get even less or just have to cut him. Also not deal with the drama surrounding this saga. I think they made their decision last offseason that he was likely gone regardless after 2026. This got accelerated by a year.

If NE doesn't want to give a 1st, fine. Keep AJ, the second he has a hamstring issue put him on IR. He goes away from the team to do whatever he wants and they cut him after the season.

The Eagles are still going to eat a cap hit, it just isnt horrific after june 1st. They shouldn't do it for free. The pats seem to be under the assumption that since they're the only suitor they can just get away with sending a 3rd or something stupid

This. Or maybe a WR1 goes down in training camp or early in the season opening up the door w/ another team.

Yep. There is no real need to trade AJ. He shouldnt go unless we get a 1st round pick, THIS year.

And he hasnt earned the right to name his spot. This isnt some guy the eagles are graciously putting out to pasture like McNabb. This is a malcontent who quit on the team. Send him wherever the best deal is.

The issue is they would have to pay him a $28M bonus for this year and if your plan is to keep him just to keep him but then dismiss him from the team if gets injured, it's not a good use of resources. And while the cap hit isn't as bad in 2027 it's still a $31M cap hit to cut him. You also have to factor in the additional pay he would be getting in 2026 in that number.

I also think he would act out at a level we haven't seen yet if he was under the assumption for months he was going to his favorite team to all of a sudden not. While also being in an extremely crowded WR room which means even less targets for him. Ertz acted all emo and butthurt when he expected to get traded and didn't, Brown would probably do worse.

Now, that's not to say Eagles HAVE to trade him. But it would be in there benefit and interest overall to move on with a fair trade.

In the end I see a deal if it gets done being something like 1st and a 3rd for Brown and a 4th.

Just a thought. Don't want this cloud hanging over the team. Better to move on for all involved if the price is reasonable. Howie usually bridges the gap by tying picks to incentives if need be. We're going with a ball control offense now so less need for an alpha. And getting AJ's contract off the books too.
