October 5Oct 5 One day I look forward to telling my sons about the good old days when baseball players would get a hit and not do a ghey tiktok dance on the base.

At the end of the day it's just football. It must be pretty serious for him to miss and Lane is a legend and has proven he isn't soft by playing through some tough injuries.I wonder if Lane has taken a look at this cluster***k and decided it's not worth what he'd have to go thru for the next 13 games. I can't say that I'd blame him.

People have been on this since 2023, it's time to move on. Lol.I think it's just clear that it doesn't really matter whether he's the problem or not, no one will point at anything but him until he's gone. That's true even if he has a QB who still in his 7th year struggles to read a defense, but at least he's getting better at it? Kinda?I think in this city, being liked by the fanbase is a requirement as the head coach; the pressure here is just too much if the fanbase doesn't like you.

We nearly lost to a worse panthers team in 2024I think the Eagles get crushed by the Jags(playing a good team on the road coming off a heartbreaking loss as underdogs usually means come out on empty the next game). Then come home and beat the Panthers in an ugly game. Although they could lose that Panthers game if everyone hurt today also misses that game. Then lose to Dallas at home on Lurie night and it gets ugly. And given it’s on Lurie night they’re gonna show him on the owner’s box all night and he’s gonna look miserable as the offense continues to stink it up. Then that Washington game will be the game where if they win it people will cling to hope for another few weeks. If they lose that one I think fans start to check out on this team. Every bad season has that one game where reality this season is gonna suck truly hits home and the way the schedule lines up I’m feeling like that is the game. And honestly if Daniels is healthy I think we probably lose that game. And we’d be 3-5 at that point.
October 5Oct 5 For anyone who doesn't think that the Eagles have had a MASSIVE problem with offensive coaching for most of the Sirianni era just watch the second half of the SNF game. Bryce Young looked like a complete and total bust two years ago and looked average at best last year. Now look at how he has played this year. Tonight specifically he is without his number 2 WR Jalen Cooker, and the team is missing THREE starting offensive lineman. The way Carolina is giving him quick easy throws to make where guys are completely wide open is insane. On the other side of the ball there was a 3rd and long where Sioni Vaki and Amon-Ra St. Brown did a crossing route and both were completely wide open and Goff got it to Vaki with room to run for the first down. When do we have guys running wide open all over the field? When are we able to get guys in movement across the field wide open so they can run after the catch? This has been the same exact crap year in and year out under Sirianni and with no motion, no creativity, no scheming guys wide open, etc. Enough is enough, and if Hurts has anything to do with the offense changing back to this nonsense the last two weeks after it looked different and like Mannion was running the offense the first two games than he can go too. Offensive football shouldn't be anywhere near as difficult as it for this team at all, let alone with all of the talent they have had the last few years.

October 5Oct 5 The issue with a Hurts extension is that with these modern QB contracts, there is hardly any differentiation between system QB / game managers / needs good cast and situation QBs vs guys that carry offenses / elevate players around them.I'd argue Jalen consistently fails to deliver to the level needed to be considered in the 2nd category but with his elite intangibles, he is about the perfect guy from the first category you want leading a team that is otherwise already uber-talented / stacked. Issue is its hard to consistently construct a winning roster like that around Hurts if paying him $50m+ AAV as we are (and his next extension is likely to be even higher at $55m - $60m).

No excuse. Not in the middle of the season. Play it out.

This season is a lost cause and the team needs to make MAJOR changes. This entire era has run it's course and as much as I love Jalen I would include him in that. It's simply time to move on and move forward. Anyway, I'd like for the FO to get a look at Bell over an extended period of time to see if he is someone they can count on moving forward.

There’s no reason to argue that one is great and held back while the other is a problem. Maybe they both are. Anyone with extensive starting experience can get a placeholder starting QB job. And a HC with Siri’s record can probably get a job somewhere too, like Doug in Jacksonville. The question is if either of them would keep that job beyond 2 years. And the answer is almost certainly no to both of them. That’s what happens when the band breaks up. Everyone regresses.

I don't think Jalen Hurts is that type of QB that can make up for the missing things.I think he can very late in a season, but not in the regular season and early playoffs. I kind of view Hurts as similar to Eli pedigree wise, but with less turning the ball over, and more mobility. It's great that towards the very end of a season he can play some of his best games. And that works when the formula is a team that can get someone to that point so they can take over. The problem is when they can't. It's kind of like he's nerfed in games before the NFCCG and only gets to use his full ability after that point. Lol.
October 5Oct 5 Welp... Jihaad Campbell has found an interesting way to get over today's loss:I had to edit it out to make it EMB suitable. It was a video and was not censored 🤣
October 5Oct 5 I told you guys in the offseason that the debate would transition from "is an elite offense dragging Hurts along with it and he’s lucky to be the system complement to that”…. to…..”is a horrendous offense dragging Hurts down with it and he’s deprived of a chance to succeed?” Beat that horse dead. And maybe the answer was yes then and is yes now.But if you have to rebuild the offense. Do you really want to do it with a 28 year old QB in need of a 3rd contract whose even more rabid defenders now acknowledge is limited?

The team was instead forced to play with just seven offensive linemen in uniform, with third-round pick Markel Bell inserted as Johnson’s replacement at right tackle and no real backup.Sirianni did not explain the sequence of events Sunday morning that led to the late scramble."I think you guys know that he’s dealing with a personal matter and that’s really all I’m going to say on that,” he said after the Eagles allowed 14 unanswered points in the second half of a 24-20 defeat.Johnson missed time during training camp due to a personal matter and, upon returning, said that the 2026 season likely would be his last. The future Hall of Fame tackle has been open about his mental health struggles. He missed three games in 2021 while dealing with anxiety and depression. It’s unclear if Sunday’s absence is related. Neither Sirianni nor left tackle Jordan Mailata elaborated on Johnson’s absence."I can’t speak on that,” Mailata said.Said center/guard Cam Jurgens: "It’s football. It’s always the next man up. It’s tough because that’s one of our brothers. We miss him out there.”The offense sputtered for a variety of reasons in the second half on Sunday, and Jalen Hurts was under duress when dropping back. The Rams, seeking to take advantage of an offensive line down two starters also including left guard Landon Dickerson, blitzed the Eagles on 60.6% of his dropbacks, according to Next Gen. Pro Football Focus had Hurts under pressure on 15 of his 34 dropbacks, and Bell was charged for a team-high five pressures, which included two of Hurts’ four sacks.Mailata said he didn’t think Johnson’s absence had a major effect on the offense."I can only attest to the guys that were on the field,” he said. "I don’t like playing those sort of what-ifs, or could-have-done-this, should-have-done-this. We just simply couldn’t finish the drives.”Bell was no longer in the locker room when the doors opened to reporters after the game."I would like to think as a leader on this offense, I have a lot of belief in the next man up,” Mailata said. "There’s a reason why we drafted Markel high up and … Sometimes the situation is he’s got to be that next man up and you find out on Sundays."Sirianni said he thought Bell "battled and went in there and played his butt off.”Asked how he processed Johnson being out and getting the team ready to play Sunday, Hurts said: "Very unfortunate for his unavailability today. In the end, it was the next-man-up mentality. Kept the focus on the team, kept the focus on us trying to go out there and be at our best. We had an opportunity to do that.”For one half, there was progress, but things fell apart late.Jose F. Moreno / Staff PhotographerIt’s unclear if Johnson will be back with the team for Week 5. An extended absence would potentially force Howie Roseman to make a move. The Eagles also are without reserve tackle Fred Johnson, who has been dealing with a knee injury. They have two tackles on the practice squad in John Ojukwu and Kiran Amegadjie, one of which likely would have been elevated had the Eagles known Johnson wasn’t going to play on Sunday.Johnson had been considering retirement before deciding to return to the Eagles for the 2026 season."As you get older, things change in your life,” he said in August. "Priorities. Your children get older, parents get older. It puts things in perspective. So it’s looking like, potentially, this is probably going to be my last year. I am getting to that point where priorities away from football are starting to merge.”

October 5Oct 5 Just look at that last drive. Using fakes and then moving the pocket for Bryce Young to give him easy throwing lanes. God forbid we would ever do that with Hurts.
October 5Oct 5 Man, it feels like the end of the Hurts/Siri run is here. In hindsight it was smart to not extend Hurts, I think they'll try to keep him for 1 more year as a bridge QB. Siri on the other hand is gone after this year. You can book it. My biggest regret is that they got rid of Stoutland, he was such an invaluable resource that could have rebuilt this O-Line right.

Do you really want to do it with a 28 year old QB in need of a 3rd contract whose even more rabid defenders now acknowledge is limited?But...I thought the QB friendly system would show just how elite Hurts actually is without the moron Sirianni doing things...?Oh right, I forgot, the tin foil hat theory is that if it's not working out, it's because Sirianni took over and is forcing the offense to revert, with no play sheet and them showing Mannion in the booth every game, because any and all failure must be directly caused by Sirianni actively sabotaging things...I don't know why it feels like few people will actually even consider if Jalen's skillset itself holds back the team in the regular season and early playoffs. I don't think Hurts has been the main driver of success on the team for a while now, at least from a tangibles perspective, and I don't feel like that's so weird to say? It's absolutely required to say that if you can get into the final 4, Hurts is one of the best QBs you can have? The problem is that you need a team that can get there without your QB being able to execute even basic things like quality defense reading, etc. Not throwing hot in a 49ers style system to beat overload pressures is pretty insane.I still can't understand why ever since the Reid era began, we've refused to have proper hot reads. Lol.
October 5Oct 5 Neither the Lions or Panthers are juggernauts and these teams look like they’re playing a different sport than the Eagles. The offense is so cooked. The downside is it’s gonna be really hard to watch this season because they’re not remotely enjoyable. But I won’t let these bums ruin football season for me. Just lose enough to get me Jeremiah Smith next April.
October 5Oct 5 I feel like Groundhog Day with this coaching rhetoric. If you want to fire Siri because he’s a CEO head coach who doesn’t contribute to the offense (which sucks) and you want an offensive blue print guy and play caller who IS the head coach and therefore won’t leave for a promotion upon any success….then by all means argue that point. But my God stop blaming Siri directly for the offensive product on the field right now. It could not have been more clear in the offseason that he has been neutered, emasculated, and removed from this process. This is the Mannion offense run by Hurts. Siri isn’t the common denominator because he’s no longer in the equation.
