Great athletes are great at edge and WR. (And outside of Nolan Smith at edge and zero exceptions at wr), we ironically do not draft great athletes at those positions.

S, off ball LB, QB….exactly.

I think this is some bias based on the big misses at edge and WR. It's understandable given Barnett and JJAW. OL and DT are good examples where they go for an athletic profile. CB is another. Q and Cooper are good examples of picking great athletes.

I miss this being the Eagles Blog. It’s turned into the Hurts Blog. I’ve been a blog poster since the beginning, so I understand it will go where it goes. That said, there is so much else going on with this team.

I’ve read rumors that Howie is looking for a veteran o-lineman to acquire via trade. It’s probably just lazy reporting, because he’s basically always looking at various possibilities. But I would be hesitant for him to add a o-lineman this way. First, good ones are rarely traded….even teams tanking teams are usually holding on to linemen that are worth anything. Secondly, I’d rather he hang on to all his draft capital for now.

You should take the lead and post non-Hurts content.

I know. And let's not forget who outplayed who in the Superbowls. Mahomes also has 2 Superbowls where he bombed. Just saying...

You have to get to a bunch of Super Bowls to bomb a couple.

Eagles Super Bowl loss, you can paint whatever picture you want about who outplayed who, Mahomes had 3 TD's, was not sacked, and did not turn the ball over. You are skewing Hurts numbers with all the Tush Push TD's, that other teams would have their RB score. And his turnover returned for a TD was the difference in the game.

Eagles Super Bowl win, he had 115 yards and a TD at the half. He has a tush push TD, and a passing TD on a short field after a turnover. The game was 27-0, the game was over when he stat padded a deep shot to Devonta.

Hurts could have done the same thing if Nick knew how clocks worked.

Wentz' stats that day?

18/28 for 193 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int, 1 rushing TD, 81.4

Hurts on Sunday: 21/40, 220 yards, 1 TD, 77 QB rating

Very similar games but Nick forgot how to coach football at the end of one.

I just wonder if Hurts will quit on the team and render himself a permanent backup if the Eagles draft a QB? (He won't)

Higher playoff QB rating than Josh Allen in every round beyond the Wildcard. Congrats to Josh on his very first overtime win!

Hurts has more TD passes and one less pick, and Allen leads the league in rushing TDs. I guess he is RB1

The excuses being given are that his coaches stink and are getting destroyed every single week, and his OL has been the worst in the league.

Hurts has won more than Wentz and is a much better QB. What is your point??

Hurts hasn't ever won with backups? Is that what you're saying?

Please stop the Hurts idiocy. He's the QB and will be for the next two seasons at least. You guys all need to go cry in TATE about it.

Oh that game was winnable for sure despite people using the backups as an excuse. Jags did not want to win it and were seriously trying to give it to us. We just didn't want to take the win

Both coaches on both teams had horrible time management. It was laughably bad. Makes you wish someone had the guts to question Nick on the sidelines or in the booth

Like Mannion and his screens that keep failing. He said it's not going to stop too

Hurts has already thrown the coaches under the bus or maybe you missed that?

Hurts didn't throw anyone under the bus. Give me a break. Nothing he would say would make you all happy, and the coaches deserve the bus to run over them, back up, and then run over them again. Boo f'ing hoo

I found a game where the QB won with a lot of injuries 🤷‍♂️ it just so happened to be Wentz

They could draft a QB in 2027 and just have him sit. It's not like they haven't done that before

They should draft a QB, absolutely. McKee ain't it.

I saw him comments and I'm trying to figure out what exactly is so bad about them??

'I do what the coaches tell me to do' is throwing them under the bus, I guess. Wow the Hurts Derangement Syndrome has made you all soft.

Do you think Nicks feelings were hurt?

The fact you use that and capitalize it is just hilarious to me lol

Also there was more to it than that

I read his quotes. What should he have said? "Yes we should have run the ball, our coach inexplicably left time on the clock"

That would have been throwing him under the bus. He simply bowed out of that whole conversation and still people are trying to twist it. I wonder why

Cool we are still talking about Josh Allen vs. Hurts….

The problem is neither one of your guys side is going to change the other. So it is like Randy marsh trying to catch the dragon on the video game.

Last thing I’m gonna say is there was conversation on here how about Matt Stafford is an overrated quarterback when he got sent to the Rams. That he wasn’t a winner and he’d lose (by this i mean not win a Super Bowl) with the rams as well. Since then won a SB and a league MVP. So the book on hurts and Allen is not yet finished.

I want to see cameras on Mannion and Siri during games, we need to see whether Siri's hand is in the pie with the running into a brick wall and giga fail screen calls

  1. I think the main excuse why Hurts is losing is his coach blew the last two. Putting them in a spot to win with 8 seconds was his job and he did it. You can't put that on Hurts. He blew two games

If you want to blame the hybrid/dysfunctional system on Hurts we can skip this but they don't even have the TEs to run it, the plays seem to be coming in late again so there isn't much time on the clock when they get to the line. Is SM indecisive or is Nick getting involved and delaying that again like last year? Realistically this is #2 ahead of Hurts and not something he can control. People have said he needs to change the play at the line, well he can't do that if there isn't time.

  1. There is no run game. 6 yards from RB in a 2nd half isn't going to win you a game and wear out the defense. That's not on Hurts. Saying he should run more is a separate issue but not one a QB should have to do because the run game nets you a total of 6 yards in a half and 14 in the first from RBs. I don't care who is QB that is a larger issue than missing open targets.

  2. Injuries are a valid excuse when it gets past one or two guys. DG has been out/vanished for a quarter on Sunday, they have crap behind him at TE, WR1 is out so safeties are freed up, 3/5 new OL starters since game 1 and it got as bad as 4/5 on Sunday giving up 48%+ pressure rate which is near the bottom of the league. They can't run block and he's one of the highest pressure rates in the league. Not many QBs are going to do well. And they are down to RB4.

  3. Is Hurts. He is missing people who are open at times. Just like Josh Allen on that "arm punt" when a guy was wide open at the sticks and he threw a pick. If he is the benchmark of what people here want in a QB and he misses people then stop expecting Hurts to be perfect even if it pisses us off when he does it. He needs to run more. Is it his leg, is it his coach, or is it him? No idea but when they are getting 20 yards from RBs because the 4th string guy is playing we can worry about that. He is doing that run outside BS he does when he gets pressure. I hate it but that's what he does.

Bottom line is if Allen was starting here people would be complaining about the first 3 or 4 issues before blaming him but we are complaining about Hurts who we already know is a limited QB but one who can win.

"Same old sorry-ass Phillies"

That's terrible. His decisions in their brief (really brief) postseason made Rob Thomson look like Connie Mack.

What are you basing this assumption on, exactly? At his best, Hurts gives cryptic, say-nothing cliche responses to media questions. At his worst, he skirts accountability for a spot-on question as to why he chose not to contribute to the offense without its top 3 RBs when his passing clearly wasn't getting the job done against JAX in the second half -- yet again.

I thought he had no cast - seems they found a way to let him use his hands.

Soo what about quarters 1, 3, and 4? He got the offense in range but what about the other times when the offense struggled? Or is that ignored because of that last drive?

There have been times after they break from the huddle that Hurts lets the clock just drain to read the defense. That's not a problem

Since you guys want to keep bringing up Allen... if he was here he would have ran it more than Hurts. That's just the truth

There's about 5-7 trolls in here that keep this Hurts blog running. Otherwise, it would be BK with nothing to read. Honestly, to me this argument should have been dead and buried after 2024, after appearing in 2 out of 3 Superbowls. That was your mic drop. Because it hasn't, it's just either they enjoy being trolls and having drama, they are low IQ or flat out prejudiced. Take your pick.

The collapse of the OL is clearly the cause of the offensive woes. Hurts is the only reason we're 2-3.
