I don’t dislike the pick. I am more concerned about the Dickerson pick.  For some reason last night, I was thinking his 2nd ACL was in 2019. I realize now it was 4 months ago. I feel very meh about the pick. I don’t think it was a bad evaluation but I have no faith in the medical staff’s judgment.

And given the recent history of this team, its heightened risk.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I think that's where most of us are at bud. The talent is unquestionable. He's a monster when he's healthy. He mauls guys but he's had 4 season ending injuries in 5 years.

He got them out of the way early 🙂

I mean yeah let's hope so. I just think it's a nightmare combination. An injury prone player landing with a team who rack up tons of injuries especially along the OL.

If we are supersizing our DL, maybe Bobby Brown?

Would be happy with that also.  Dude pushes people back and would be great on the goal line. Need an upgrade from Ridgeway

He played post injury at a high level. It’s just more of a risk than Humphrey.

IMO from watching video’s as a C Humphrey clearly the best choice but it seems after last season they prefer a guy who is a jack of all trades. If the guy is in the tub seems like that’s a fail there.

Also if we want versatility we should look at tight end/punter Zach Davidson later on

Great.  So we drafted our back up IOL for 2021 in the 2nd round that may be healthy enough to play at some point this year.  Basically, assume that Brooks, Dillard and Lane are healthy to start the season, one of Dillard or Mailata is the back up tackle.  Have to believe that Driscoll practices at G and maybe some C, so this year, Dickerson, when healthy enough to play supplants Herbig and Juriga.  Not a red shirt season but close enough.

By design Dickerson isn’t supposed to be starting in 2021 anyway.  Your IOL is Kelce, Brooks and Seumalo.  Dickerson is the Eagles starting C from 2022 to 2030 and perhaps beyond.

The guy was already doing cartwheels at the Alabama Pro Day; it’s not like he’s on crutches.  He plays both C and G very well, obviously Stoutland pounded the table for him, and he already dominated the Philly media stooges in his introductory PC.

What happened to that guy yesterday who wouldn't shut up about how the Smith pick proved Howie was trying to win this year?  Given the state of our secondary, I don't love the fact that we're going to be forced to address all of it next year as opposed to a combination of the two years but it is what it is.

The theme today has to be upside.  Who cares about having a dependable fourth CB when we don't have a playable second one.  Whatever positions we address, go with the most upside risk be damned.

Quarterbacks worth picking tomorrow...

None

Franks or Ehlinger may be solid back ups.  Books doesn’t have a great arm or size but all he does is win.  Buechele from SMU, another too short guy but he slings the ball around.  Finally another too short but winning guy in Peyton Ramsey.  Not looking for a starter but a number three, scout QB that may have the potential to be a number two.   Thinking all are around in the sixth.

Stoutland has proven himself in terms of coaching up middle to later round linemen. Dickerson’s upside is pro bowl/all pro, but what’s his chances of reaching that upside 10-15%?   Besides, no one knows how much he’s lost with this 2nd injury because he hasn’t played yet.
At some point they need to draft a 2nd rounder who has a spot and is ready to play, like when he’s drafted, it’s too high of a pick to use on red shirts, or injury concerns.  How much better is Dickerson gonna be than Creed Humphrey?  That’s the question.

😕    That's what they were doing?   I thought Dillard was just too good a value to pass up prospect, which is why they drafted him without having actually gone out to work him out?   I thought Sydney Jones was just too good a value at CB to pass up, despite his injury?   I thought Jalen Hurts was a great value in Round 2 and they didn't 'need' a backup QB, because they already had Nate "unstoppable" Sudfeld under contract?  What about trading up to get Dallas Goedert when they had Ertz on the roster, that was a 'need'?

IP with the receipts!

Every pick they made this year has upside.  May not have been my picks, but I’m down with that.

Barnett was a high pick who was never going to dominate in this league.  Hurts was never going to be a high end passer.  JJAW was never going to get open.  Rasul Douglas was always going to struggle with getting burnt deep.  These things were known from day 1.

Never isn’t a word that has to apply to limitations on these 3 picks.

I would like to think that’s random but the narrative seems to be the team pushing players back to play and medical staff going along with it. I mean it seems like that’s what happened with Lane.

I do think this is more a reflection of how the board broke, but one could argue the fact that all their modest FA additions were DBs was a little insight that they did not intend to invest much in DBs for this draft.

That's the thing.  He recovered from every injury only to get injured again.  So while it's great he's doing cartwheels, why should we have any confidence he won't just get hurt again?  This isn't being worried about a guy because he tore his ACL his freshman year.  It's a guy who has had a major, season ending injury every year of his college career.  I give him all the props in the world for battling back and don't deny his talent/leadership one bit, but what have the Eagles done over the last 5 years that shows they have any idea on how to manage/prevent/rehab injuries?

We just watched the Eagles play the 2020 season with an offensive line that had 14 different starting combinations out of 16 games.  O-Line was low on my list of needs to begin with considering the holes on the roster.  It was even lower when you look at who was available at 37 and 70.

Not only that, they most likely could have traded back to get Dickerson, despite the run on OL.  Almost every other team uses then 2nd and 3rd round for immediate impact players, not guys who might not be ready for camp.

If OL/DT was what they wanted in round 2 and 3 they could have traded down, picked Christian Barmore in the 2nd and then OL Quinn Meinerz in the 3rd.  The NYG dropped from 42 to 50 and picked up a 2022 3rd.  That's equivalent to a 2021 4th, which would have helped the Eagles this year.

I HOPE Dickerson's injuries are a thing of the past and we have Kelce's replacement for the next decade.  He sounds like everything you want in a player.  I just want that player to be able to stay on the field and I'm sorry if the faith I have in the Eagles medical staff is even lower than my faith in Howie.

What are our QB options for 2022? And I do not want to hear Spencer Rattler, Watson, or Russel Wilson.

Ian Book is the prototypical QB2 IMO.  Like you said, all he does is win.  He has a knack about him.  He will never come in and push to be a starter.  He can come in and win a game when needed.  That's what I want in my backup.  I've been pushing for him for some time.

Howell from NC, Slovis for USC and Willis from Liberty, aside from the ones you already mentioned.

If Hurts can do enough to keep the job for one more year, the 2023 class is LOADED.

Our modest DB additions were to supplement our modest DB losses (Harris for Mills, Adams for Ford)... We lost Strap too, could replace in the draft or sign off waiver wire. Wilson at LB is to replace Riley and Gerry (#upgrade). You get the point, we did little replacements that worked with the cap

So... will we see Ertz moved today?

Who did they sign at DB other than the safety from the Vikings?

If they could get their new QB with only one first round pick, rather than bundling them all in a huge package, that would be a major plus.  That would enable them to invest first round picks in DL and CB next year (or to backtrack and get an OT if Mailata/Dillard flop).

If we can move up in the 4th for talent I would do it. Couple of good linebackers and safeties left (Jabril cox, Jamar Johnson, Dylan Moses, Caden Sterns).
