I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

This is a huge issue.  Watch the Steelers, Chiefs and Ravens draft.  You know exactly the kind of player they are getting every time.

What's the Eagles style of draft?  Risks and projects?

Drafted well enough to win a super bowl a few years ago.

i know this will be met with all kinds of negative remarks, but the more i watch Smith he reminds me a bit of Rice. i guess because he is built similar, narrow, lanky, is silky smooth in his routes and catches just about everything thrown his way.

i know the game is different now, and im not saying he can be Jerry Rice, he just reminds me of him a bit.

I’m comfortable with the Marvin Harrison comp and crossing my fingers.

Was Jerry small? I figured he was like 200lbs🤷 (Big pads though).

I don’t see them drafting another WR before R6. There are still good corners I want: Rochell, Gowan, Mukuamu, R Williams.

Wallace would be an upgrade over Watkins, Hightower and Ward.  Plus, he tore his ACL so Howie should have him on speed dial.

So...really like the Smith and Williams picks.  We definitely needed to get a quality DT in this draft.

Still meh on the Dickerson pick.  I understand the upside vs injury risk.  Just think we could have made a boring, value pick there to help the back seven on defense instead

He’s a smooth runner much like Rice was. Rice didn’t seem like he was that fast but no one could catch him when he pulled away.

Harrison is who I most compare him to, however I think he’s a much more highly touted prospect coming out. But that’s what I see…a wiry, elusive #1 guy who runs excellent routes, doesn’t drop balls and won’t be a flashy diva.

Rice had two HOF QBs throwing him the ball.

Really hope we don't curtail his potential with mediocre QB play.

I read someone on Twitter saying they announced him as a DE. So I wonder if that’s where they plan to start him.

😄

Quick look at the roster situation, trying to see where 8 late picks could make the team. Normal font is clearly expected to make roster, bold is expected to make it but not guaranteed, italic has one foot out the door.

QB: Hurts, Flacco, project

RB: Sanders, Scott, Howard, Huntley/Killins

WR: Smith, Reagor, Ward, Watkins, Hightower, Fulgham, JJAW

TE: Goedert, Ertz, Butler/Jackson/Wilson

OT: Mailata, Dillard, Johnson, Driscoll, Pryor

OG: Seumalo, Brooks, Herbig

Center: Kelce, Dickerson

DE: Graham, Barnett, Sweat, Ostman

DT: Cox, Hargrave, Williams, Ridgeway

LB: Wilson, Taylor, Singleton, Bradley, Edwards

CB: Slay, Maddox, James, Jacquet

S: Mcleod, Adams, Harris, Wallace, Epps

K: Elliott

P: Someone

This isn't about need, it's about room.  They have room for:

1 QB

2 TE's

1 RB

1 DL

1 Punter

2 DBs

That's exactly 8 players.

Any draft picks that spill beyond those parameters are pretty much a lock for the practice squad.

Dickerson injury history is a concern.  Smith has a size issue.  Defects are now Howie's special on drafting players.

That said, impressed by Williams' athleticism.  He may turn out good somewhere on DL.  The coaches have to find ways to use him.

No CB yet.  Someone commented that it is good that they pick players disregarding needs.  This may have to do about the top 2 CBs were picked early.  They went in different directions since.  They better to turn around in Day 3 to address the CB need.

Our Defensive Backs room:

Tier 1-

Darius Slay- the best in the room

Tier 2-

Anthony Harris- not quite Tier 1

Tier 3-

Rodney McLeod- not the same player since the injury

The rest-

Avonte Maddox- still here because he was a 4th rd pick

Marcus Epps- he did have as many INTs as Slay last year

K'Von Wallace- couldn't find playing time despite injuries to everyone ahead of him on the depth chart

Andrew Adams- our exciting free agent signing

Craig James- had that one play that one time

Michael Jacquet- reincarnation of Izell Jenkins

Grayland Arnold- Howie really likes him

Kevon Seymour- ummm

Jameson Houston- cool name

Elijah Riley- the guy from Army

Lavert Hill- seriously

Shakial Taylor- your guess is as good as mine

Observations -

1) If I'm a UDFA defensive back, I'm calling the Eagles

2) This is the reason that JJAW looks great in camp

Robert Rochell is the best CB left in the draft and the drop-off after Rochell seems to be substantial, imo.  Rochell would have likely been a 2nd/3rd round pick had he played for a bigger program, imo.

Rochell (pronounced row-SHELL) was a fantastic athlete in high school, earning All-District honors in football for Fair Park High School in Shreveport and finishing third in the 100-meter dash at the Louisiana state track meet. He started three times in 11 appearances for the Bears as a redshirt freshman (eight tackles, one interception, six pass breakups). In 2018, he started eight of 11 contests played (25 tackles, three for loss, four interceptions, six pass breakups). Rochell had a breakout junior campaign, when he tied for 10th in the FCS with five interceptions and garnered first-team All-Southland Conference honors with 44 tackles, 2.5 for loss, and a team-high 13 pass breakups. UCA played a nine-game schedule in 2020 and Rochell started seven of those contests (27 tackles, three pass breakups), missing two due to injury. He accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl. -- by Chad Reuter

Rochell is very athletic and is a ball hawk. His 40 time was clocked at 4.39 during his pro-day.   The fact that he has played both WR and CB makes him very versatile and his experience at WR likely makes him better at tracking balls, disrupting passes, etc.  He could be used as a safety in certain packages but should become a starting outside CB at the NFL level.  Decent size and good tackler.  Technique could use some work but that shouldn't be much of an issue with some solid NFL coaching.

He will likely be among the next 2 CB's taken.  (Probably the next taken).

The Jaguars could be looking for a CB (among others) so he probably won't last until pick 123.  (Not even close, imo)

BUT the Jaguars could also use a TE.   Zach Ertz would be an ideal "go-to" guy for Lawrence during Lawrence's first few years in the league.  A top pass-catching, veteran TE is ideal for a rookie QB learning the NFL game.  Ertz would likely aid in Lawrence's development...much more so than any TE available in the draft now or any other TE in the free agent market, imo.

Ertz and our 4th round (123) for Jacksonville's 4th (106) and try to get a 6th back from Jacksonville.  Ertz could spend his later years in Florida, in a stress/drama free town.  (Jacksonville is nothing compared to Philadelphia when it comes to the fanbase/media.) And with any luck, might help them become a contender in a few years with Lawrence.

And we get our future starting outside CB.

I'd prefer we not suffer through Greg Ward and Boston Scott returning punts and kicks again.

Smith should be WR only and Reagor needs to focus on the same, as he looks very uncomfortable out there as a return guy.  I'd also like to see Watkins with more emphasis on polishing up as a WR.

Someone with return ability would be nice in round 6 this year.

Not only is the D-Back room a mess and not improving, teams in our division are adding more talented playmakers.

Redskins have Terry McLaurin and now Dyami Brown.  Could end up being the best deep threat duo in the NFL.  Plus they have Logan Thomas developing in to a stud at TE.

NYG added Galloday, Ross and now Toney to go along with Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard.

I'm sure Dallas will add a playmaker today.

Who do we have to cover any of these guys?  Not only at CB and S but LB as well.

We should do everything in our power to move up for Jabril Cox today.  He's elite in coverage.

I would definitely like packaging Ertz with our 4 to get to the top of 4 for the best available CB/LB.

Or those other picks push guys like Epps, Hightower, Watkins, Andrew Adams, all corners not named Maddox or Slay off the roster. We stink anyway, so I have no problem going heavy at an important position like OL and light at RB again. And we shouldn’t waste a 53 man roster spot on any rookie QB.
