"Been told” and "believe” could well be another reporter espousing his personal believe after five drinks at the bar. You are making a supposition on the possible source which I would suggest given the word choices used in the tweet might well be a reach. Unfortunately, because of the likes of Schefter and Florio, reporters need to be first with a scoop and attract readers using tweets like this. And with media constantly cutting journalists in a profession that doesn’t pay particularly well, the reporters are under pressure to be first resulting in a decline in the quality of information proffered.
