This is such a tough hedge to do. If you bet $50,000 on Green Bay, you "only" get back around $8,000 since GB is a -620 moneyline favorite. Obviously still a good amount of money, but you typically want to hedge more when your potential payout is over $700,000.

Perhaps... but getting back $8000 for a $25 bet is still pretty nice return.   I'm not a gambler by any means, but it seems that hedging this in some way is the only smart move to make.  You want to be a winner either way.

Great question. You can bet the max at multiple casinos (ex: $10,000 at multiple places), using the parley ticket you have as collateral.

Or you can just "sell" your ticket back to MGM at say a 30% profit.

He needs to sell that ticket. Green Bay is gonna destroy the Lions.

100%. Anything is better than nothing. The other tough part is who knows if this guy has $50,000 laying around on this short of notice to place the wager.

You have to run an offense that the QB is comfortable with.  It all goes back to poor roster construction.  Our 3 best pass catchers are guys who thrive in the middle of the field and we drafted a qb in the 2nd round that struggles with those kind of reads/throws.

It all points to Lowie.  I'll remind everyone, Ertz is still on this team.  Sometimes it's easy to forget.  But he is.  Howie (Lurie by proxy) failed to capitalize on his value 2 years ago and here we are.  A bunch of square pegs for round holes.

Yes, yes I am.

Brian Westbrook saw the same thing that most of us saw.

Hurts has the same problems he’s always had. He’s a one read guy who can run with average arm strength. He under threw most of his deep shots yesterday.

My most hated play was a 3rd down in the 3rd quarter when the game showed the replay of the WRs running their routes and both Smith and Reagor was open for first downs and Hurts who wasn’t under pressure didn’t see either of them.

I don't know... giving up 26 is bad.  We heard yesterday that the defense was to blame when they only surrendered 17.

Who besides Kittle do the 49ers have on offense that's better than who the Cowboys have?  I couldn't tell you who their RBs are and the Eagles just played them yesterday.

We also can't overlook the loss of BG.  He ate up 70% of snaps every week and was in every imaginable package.  The ability to kick him inside to create a mismatch is not easily replicated with a guy like Ryan Kerrigan.  Derek Barnett led the Eagles DE in snaps yesterday.  He's got 3 tackles and another 15 yard penalty to his name this year.  Who steps up?

Careful, people get real touchy when you question his arm strength.

That was sarcasm.

I'm not optimistic for Monday Night.    I am still in denial about BG, btw.

I think we're going to miss him so much more than people realize. He's our best run defender at EDGE, the guy who plays the hardest, and does everything asked of him. More Barnett snaps is a significant downgrade.

Late to the arm strength debate. I've always been of the opinion Hurts has enough arm to play QB, but it is limited, so he needs to be accurate, with great mechanics and get the throw off precisely in time. If any of the three are slightly off, you are going to get an inconsistent pass like we saw yesterday. You can win with this, but clearly there's more you need to overcome with this approach vs a QB who has above average to elite arm strength. With Hurts, you will never get a throw like this which Herbert does routinely.

Hurts would run on that play for about ten yards.

Overall, the Eagles kept the 49ers from hitting 20.  Better than I expected. Need to open the routes up more or force Hurts to accept them.  Cowpads like to press so are susceptible on slants, crossing patterns, mesh etc.

That's exactly where I stand. His arm is limited. It's being discussed so heavily in here and is more apparent because his game is flawed in many ways.

Can anyone honestly say his arm is "good"? Watch the other 31 starters in this league. I'd be willing to bet, at minimum, 25 of them have a better arm.

At minimum.

I wish they would trade Flacco and move Minshew up to #2.  Have a feeling that with how much Hurts runs around he will get hurt eventually.  Rather see Gardner than Flacco out there.

That may be a problem

Geez, it's a rebuilding year with a QB going in with 4 starts and your top 3 WRs don't have a full NFL season between them.

And people are surprised they struggled against a top defense?

I'd rather see Minshew play 49% of the game and Flacco play the other 51%

Forgot we also had a dropped pick or two yesterday as well

A couple fumbles roll right back to them

Perspective is important, I agree with @Connecticut Eagle, Im just glad that we're competitive and look competent enough to compete

That seems to be our m.o.

Strictly from a fan and entertainment standpoint, Flacco is unwatchable. He was at the end of his run in Baltimore, in Denver, with the Jets, and in the preseason last month. Just an awful quarterback to watch. Minshew at least has some juice to him. And if it gets to that point, the season is done anyway so might as well have someone decently fun to watch back there.

That’s fascinating. I never knew your parlay ticket could, in fact, be used as collateral.

Just nitpicking, but I’d be shocked if BetMGM would offer anything close to 30% given the implied no-vig probability of a Lions victory is roughly 15% (for example, +550 is 15.38% implied odds of winning).

Is it possible at most books to cash out for less?

I think my strategy would be to guarantee myself $10,000 with a pregame hedge, then hope to find some in-game spots at a much better price.

Off topic, but have you heard the Mattress Mack story? Also, there is a hedge fund guy who posts these sorts of parlays on Twitter fairly often.

A couple of FA DE available.

Trent Murphy- 30, ultimate hustle guy

Vic Beasley- 28, tweener but a guy who can rush the passer

Noah Spence- 27, bust but would love to be the team to make it click for him

Ifeadi Odenigbo- 27, had 7 sacks 2 years ago

Daeshon Hall- 26, always liked his potential.  Hasn't done much however.

Joe Ostman- he healthy?
