Seems to be more Howie Roseman square peg round hole stuff.

This from a guy who's getting knocked on his ass by a rookie. From a guy who's apparently been seen on film giving up on double teams. The reality is he's older and he's not the player he was.

Dillard has something to work with, talent wise, but I don’t think he’s got enough anchor for RG, especially next to Kelce.  His fragility also makes it more difficult to expect much.

However, with Hurts at QB and the pocket being an afterthought, a mobile OL for the roll outs and RPO might not be a bad fit.

I think you mean Driscoll.

I did but everyone laughed at me

Lol.

All I’m saying is i thought vaitai was competent in a lot of his starts here (particularly 2017… 2018 wasn’t nearly as good) which were as good as dillard in these previous two games. And he would get crushed on here.

I don’t want to move my pro bowl caliber LT to right tackle and hope he’s as great there to make way for dillard if he is just competent. If dillard is just competent not great or good, I trust stoutland enough to draft and develop a competent RT. I’m not giving the job to dillard to just be competent at LT and have to pay him.

im not saying he can’t become good or great. This goes to both sides of the fence. One side says the negative people bury him and says he sucks. The other side overrates a performance to try to justify the pick. He was competent. Very much like vaitai in 2017. Vaitai got better as the season continued so maybe that happens. I can’t say good because mailata was played good and he wasn’t as good as mailata. I have and always viewed it this way, he isn’t going to live up to that first round pick value if he is just competent. You need more than just he didn’t look completely awful.

Slow down.  Mailata is a "pro bowl caliber” LT?   Johnson has been an All Pro RT.  If Mailata was a pro bowl caliber LT but an All Pro RT, would you keep him at LT?  Even if Dillard was a pro bowl alternate LT?

Go back and watch 2017 on All 22.  Pederson gave Vatai a lot of help with Celek on blocks.

Any player having penalties called on him the rate that Dillard has is not fine.  Especially for a team that leads the league in penalities and is on a historic rate for them.  It's actually a pretty big issue for this team.

It's not. Not like he's holding cause his feet are in concrete. Both JP and Lane Johnson have had their share of misalignment penalties.  Illegal downfield is a coaching solution.

Because as Dillard showed he can't at all function at RT.

But hey go ahead and take your lunacy a step further by trying to act like Dillard is better than Mailata.

Never said that.  But if Dillard was as bad as you say, they'd stick with Driscoll at RT and plug Mailata at LT as soon as possible.

I don't see anyone here giving Hurts the rookie label.

That said though, Dillard has been developing under the same coach for now his 3rd straight year.

I just hate when people do that for any player in general. A rookie doesn’t get an entire season in the nfl where he played some or on sideline learning and in the facility and then a completely offseason with the team. A rookie is drafted (sometimes can’t make camp school obligations) and doesn’t have the experience gained by playing a handful of games or being in the locker room or within the organization. Even Sidney jones i hated when people said it. He might not have played but learning in the nfl and within the nfl confines and organization is different than a rookie who just jumps from college to NFL without having that year of transition and what to expect.

So do I and they are doing it In the hurts thread now. UK said Mahomes was basically a rookie when he started, he at least didn't play any games his first year hurts has . He isn't a rookie period. I'm just trying to figure out where these guys draw the line on what makes them rookies

You ever consider that maybe both Driscoll and Dillard aren't good?

Which is probably what they should do? Driscoll has done ok and he's still young. Mailata is the present and future at LT and should remain so.

4 penalties in 2 games are not good.  People kill Barnett (rightfully) for his penalities.  Dillard deserves criticism for 4 penalties in 2 games.

Whatever fits their narrative.

Hurts sat most of his entire rookie year. Learned the speed of the game. Took snaps throughout the season. Came in for mop up duty. Started four games. Had an entire off-season, camp, etc getting into this season.

Anyone comparing his situation to actual rookies is an idiot.

Yet Mailata is taking reps at RT, rather than just stepping directly in at LT.   Draw your own conclusions.

Dillard was not called out much in the last 2 games, which means he did not make that many mistakes.  He playing at RT was a disaster.  With Johnson is still missing, it would make sense to put Mailata at RT if he is ready to return.  Driscoll did OK at RT vs KC, like he did last season.  He can be another option, or he could be the swing T to back up both positions.  They moved Clark up to PS.  He may not be ready to step in right away, but another OT on the bench.

Given the comment someone made about Dillard's run blocking, I went over every running play against KC other than Hurts' runs. On every one Dillard blocked well. Granted, it was only 11 plays but that's the sample size and it is what it is. Nor did he get bullrushed on passing plays. And to repeat, the holding call was bogus.

In the course of watching those runs I was struck by how badly Sanders played. He missed several really big holes. Heck, on the first play from scrimmage he had an huge cutback lane on the OZ to the left and he never saw it. Dilllard and Dickerson pushed their men all the way to the sideline and if Sanders just cuts back instead of drifting all the way to the sideline he picks up anywhere from 6-8 yards. Instead he ran into the pile.

I commented on that after the game.  Sanders just isn’t seeing the holes.  The blocking doesn’t look like the OL is not designed to create those holes.  It is almost like he isn’t on the same page.  Now I do recall a play where Gainwell was running towards where the hole wasn’t and cut back for where the hole was.  I don’t think the line calls were out of sync with the runner but……

Please explain that to @UK_EaglesFan89

Perhaps the issue with Cox is a willingness to change what he does at this stage of his career or he is finding it harder to get involved in games now he isn't able to get by with his talent and athleticism. Age catches all of us out

Has dillard proven to be as good as mailata at LT? I don’t think he has. Why am i Moving mailata long term to RT to make way for dillard who hasn’t proven to be nearly good at LT as mailata. There’s a reason the eagles chose him to be the starting LT and pay him rather than going forward with dillard at LT.  Also dillard Hasn’t stayed healthy for an entire year. And has been solid and competent. But not as good as mailata. I can understand if for a week with lane out cause it’s your best option but not long term

i never said doug didn’t. Mailata is much closer to being a pro bowl caliber LT than dillard is at the moment. So it’s a given dillard becomes a pro bowl LT? That’s less likely than what mailata has shown.

If we want to play hypotheticals what happens if dillard is just competent and not as great as mailata at LT. And mailata isn’t as good at Rt.

my personal feeling if dillard was playing great I’d be all for it. However i trust stoutland to get a guy he likes the next two drafts, develop him to play RT. And keep mailata at LT where i think he’s an upgrade over dillard. And i won’t have to overpay dillard who likely ask for more than what vaitai got when he’s not been all that much better than vaitai so far in his career.

Trade Cox to Jacksonville. He'd get along great with Urban.

Every snap of Barnett last week. Half the time it looks like he's not even trying. I wouldn't be surprised if he have yet another new D line coach next year.

Orlando Brown is a big man.

Speaking of Quez.  He was injured on a cheap shot where the KC DB hit him through the back of the end zone well before the ball arrived. Flabbergasted the back judge didn’t see that.

Barnett is in his 5th season, Dillard is a rookie.
