17 and starting for one of the three best clubs for developing talent, Dortmund.

Wow starting for Dortmund? That's pretty big I think because that's a club that spots young talent and really develops them well.

Manchester United's trip to Newcastle United will be the first game to be show on pay-per-view, with the game kicking off at 8pm (Saturday October 17). The following day Sky Sports Box Office will be at the King Power Stadium for Leicester City vs Aston Villa at 7.15pm (Sunday October 18), and the final pay-per-view offering from round five of the Premier League will be West Bromwich Albion vs Burnley, kicking off at 5.30pm (Monday October 19).

The new broadcasting arrangement is planned for matches in October - and will then be reviewed by the Premier League.

That's what I'm thinking. I'll take £30 per game. Plus I want my drinks paid for. Oh and some sports snacks.

I think he might be. Certainly he is playing at a higher level at he same age.

I haven't seen him yet but the press reports are extremely encouraging.  His father is arguably the GOAT in US soccer.  He is certainly in the mix in any case.

You see this golazo?

Yup. He's actually becoming the primary playmaker for them from what I've seen.  He's already taking a lot of their set pieces as well.

Dortmund has four studs that are 20 or under. They are the king for buying kids young and making a boatload on them. Lyon and Ajax are also pretty good thar developing young talent

Yeah, Dortmund is absolutely ridiculous with their player development. Germany in general seems to be the best of the big leagues at player development these days too, and Americans are all over that league.

I have to say, the US is quietly putting together a pretty exciting group of young players who are all playing for big European clubs. Pulisic, Reyna, Richards, Hernandez-Foster, Dest, Konrad, McKennie, Sargent, hopefully Weah can put the injuries behind him, etc.

In 5 years the US could start to become one of those second tier teams that no one wants to play. It’s pretty damn exciting, especially because we seem to have overcome the biggest hurdle that always plagued the US: a lack of quality technical players.

OK, that goal was filthy.  Loved the quote from the commentator (almost sounded like John Oliver), "football porn".

About freaking time.

US Soccer should try to nick some coaches from Dortmund.  Or just keep sending promising young US players there.  And yeah, Zee Germahnz know how to get ish done.

The hype is building... Obviously the press loves to link Madrid to whoever the flavor of the month is, but Marca is the most reliable source for Spanish soccer and Madrid specifically. Very reputable outlet as far as Madrid transfers are concerned.

Google translate is a bit muddled on the text, but the gist of it is that in scouting Haaland and their own loaned teenage starlet Jesus Renier, Madrid have begun keeping tabs on Reyna. For comparison, while Madrid were linked to Pulisic a few times, I don’t believe Marca ever made the connection.

Quote

Communication is constant and the Bernabéu is aware of any departure from Dortmund, which gives Real Madrid a certain advantage in terms of the future of Haaland and Reyna, a player that the Madrid technicians do not lose sight of.

Another interesting part is that this would also fit their new "baby galactico” policy of snapping up the best young prospects in the world before they make it to clubs of equal financial power.

My only hesitation with Reyna joining Madrid would be the tactics. Zidane is perhaps the biggest pull as a manager in world football due to his playing career and success as a coach, but he does not often like to use a traditional #10.

James Rodriguez was frozen out of the squad for this reason, and when Isco plays he’s always an early substitute from the diamond to go with a 4-3-3. Basically even when we play with a #10, they’re basically expected to run their arses off as if they’re a central midfielder even though tactically they operate as an ACM, and because of this they are almost always the first person subbed off.

I can’t say I’ve watched Reyna enough to say if he would be a good fit on the wings or as a CM, and if not, then his career would probably be better spent at a club who can play him in a more natural role. That all said, just getting on their radar is something I didn’t think I’d ever see from an American player.

Yeah they did. Think they may be shooting themselves in the foot at the moment though.

I didn’t watch the match. From what I’ve read Madrid had an abysmal first half. This is after losing to a minnow this weekend.

That said, Zidane’s teams have historically started slow. They tend to win when it matters though.

Damn.  He didn't even follow through on that kick.  That's like a snap shot in hockey.  That goal was Mike Bossy-esque.
