JFC bunt the Fing runners over with Bohm. You need just one run. Just pray casty or jt came through. Holy crap your offense sucks play small ball

I really feel like they heard me

They had to do it. The offense is so bad that they had to play small ball to get runs. Nothing else was working. I’m glad they changed it up instead of just hacking away and getting a 5th double play. This is the only win of the series you can feel it. They left it all on the field

Now because Marsh finally did something and got a walk off RBI, DD will use that as an excuse to give that bum another year or more. This team is a complete mess regardless of any walk off.

With the offensive explosion of 4 runs in 11 innings yesterday, I expect they'll score somewhere between 0 and 2 runs over the next two games.

I was going to post a more detailed, position-by-position analysis with some stats to try to back up my opinions. But I'll save the TLDR and just lay out my opinions:

  1. I am not enough of a hater to think that the Phillies will miss the playoffs this year. They are still a good team.

  2. Talk about the bullpen, talk about the fielding. Those are modifiable liabilities. The problem is the lineup. The lineup is not good enough to win a world series. It's also far enough off the mark and heading in the wrong direction with deteriorating key hitters that there is nothing they can do with their assets and available payroll to make this lineup good enough. This is a fait accompli.

  3. This is the Eagles' perk with Howie "GM for life." If DD has any insight, he knows he's out of here within 2 years. You think he cares about Aidan Miller? Or even Andrew Painter? He'd rather convert long term assets into short term marginal upgrades.

  4. The Phillies are at a crossroads. How much of the future do you mortgage to polish this team for the 2025 stretch run? How much of your invested savings are you willing to pull out to marginally improve the odds of what still looks like a losing bet?

I think the reasonable compromise is that you don't have to sell off all the good players for prospects right now (they are all on bloated contracts anyway, so you won't get much). But why add? The problem is that DD doesn't need to care about that.

And they missed the playoffs that year lol

I still don't understand why the Phillies haven't signed him

Financial constraints maybe, they are screwed long term because of the bad contracts to Turner and now a broken down Harper that has seen his best days

Nola is a bad contract too considering he wasn’t very good this year and everyone kept saying he was a workhorse and his style would age gracefully. Now out with a stress reaction and might be breaking down

All but eliminates the possibility of dealing him.

Is it a "rib" injury or is it because the other teams are getting too many "RBI"?

Tbh he’d have to approve of a deal cause mlb has a 10/5 rule. I do think he’d approve of a trade however it likely somewhere in the south or close to it if he was going to be deal. But yeah pretty much stuck with him through this year. Frankly if Luzardo has fallen off kind of need him to come back at some point and be good

I think April/May Luzardo isn't quite reality...but those last 2 hideous starts will fade and are not the sign of bad things to come. He's very good.

But...he's 27. The Phillies lose control next year at 28, at which point he's pulling a big deal that will take him into potentially bad years around 33.

I don't want to completely punt on this group...but I'm thinking Luzardo may be a guy worth trading for very good prospects this time next year.

I don't think the Phillies will truly compete for a title until they've shed enough salary to buy 2 middle of the order bats on top of developing another. And I'm not sure giving Luzardo a big deal is the way to go.

Tbh i think the Phillies should either extend Ranger or Luzardo. I don’t trust Nola going forward to be the same and if you have him as your 4 or 5th you are set for a while after wheeler goes. Once wheeler is gone would have Abel, painter, Sanchez, luzardo/ranger and nola. That’s a good rotation. Can develop some young guys and hopefully deal them to add guys to the lineup.

Where the hell did they get this chick from to hold the Phanatic's banner?

I think Jason Kelce would go into acute withdrawal if he wasn't in front of a camera for more than 2 days.

They were never dealing him this season anyway

Thanks dombrowski for signing this scrub to $18 mil a year and just can’t accept he sucks

Just DFA Walker at this point

We know Walker sucks, but I don't mind giving him a handful of appearances to try and sort out being a 1 inning guy.

I don’t think Dave could’ve constructed a worse bullpen if he tried.
