I think we’ve officially reached the saturation point with some of these stats that are coming out. No analyst or outsider can sit there, watch the tape, and know who was the first read or where the ball is designed to go without knowing the play call or the overall offensive philosophy for a specific team. We are in the paralysis by analysis era.

I’d actually love to know how they charted it. Didn’t see it explained on the site. Cause i have a hard time believing for an entire game that multiple QBs had 0% to their 2nd option.

To be fair, they earned it and thoroughly dominated Dallas in that game more than the score suggested. A problem that they might have is relying on a core three of Dart, Skattebo, and Nabers to stay healthy when they have not so far. Malachai Fields could end up being a good player for them as well.

But I don’t know if Dallas is worse than people thought or if the Giants are a legitimate team. Everything is a week 1 overreaction at this point.

I give credit to Nagy/roman. They had a great game plan and giants actually executed it to perfection. That’s better than a lot of the giant previous game plans where they just couldn’t execute it and just stunk. Or they just allowed Dart to land in concussion protocol every other week

That said I think they were able to execute what they wanted because Dallas‘ defense is still really bad. I like Parker. I think he is a good coach. But that team is lacking overall talent on defense. And on top of it, learning a new scheme and he’s a first year defensive coordinator. It’s gonna be a problem for them all year. If you can run the ball, be physical and control the clock against them then you’re gonna be able to keep Dak Prescott on the sideline. The Giants to their credit only allowed Dallas to have two possessions in that second half.

Dont know what exactly the Giants are. Imo on offense depends on the size of the leap Dart makes (and not putting himself in harms way every other possession) and what their oline is. I don’t think they’re a Super Bowl contender. But chance they are a tougher opponent than more recent iterations of the Giants. Nabers, likely, skattebo is a nice trio. I question if their oline is actually good. I don’t think they are as good as they looked vs. Dallas.

Dallas had two possessions in the second half. They punked them. And then Dak did his typical stat padding when it didn’t matter to mitigate the loss.

that was a pretty impressive performance by the Giants offense. They had 29 firsts downs, 9/11 on third down, held the ball for 36:40, 4/4 in the red zone, 4.5 yards per carry, 7.4 yards per pass. I’d argue that’s up there with the best the giants offense has looked in a while. That said Dallas defense sucks so curious to see what they do against the rams. But they have a fortuitous schedule coming up afterward. Got titans, cardinals and commanders afterward.

Mainly, I just want people to cut the rook some slack. Yeah, he may not be big, he may not be a burner, but I think the kid is going to be a good player. I know he battles for the ball. I know he can cut and get open. Good to see him making blocks.

Just have to give a chance for them to figure to use his skillset. By the end of the season, if he stays healthy, I think he can be an impact player for this team.

Heck, good to see all the WRs, that played WR in the game, blocking. Always amazed me as big as AJ was how bad and unwilling he was as a move blocker. In the three receiver or two receiver sets where he was asked to block, it was amazing to me that Devonta was a better blocker. I am sure that when they cut Wilson, Nick did not pine for a big blocking WR because of the development of Davis doing that, the addition of Wicks and Lemon’s willingness. I think there is a good chance when he is healthy that Calcaterra replaces Jenkins as TE3. Yes, he’s not good at inline blocking but he has gotten pretty good at move blocking. (And I think he is better at STs than Jenkins). I think there is a chance that at some point Lemon may replace Covey as the PR. The kid is willing to play STs.

I think DAL is definitely worse than expected, and if Harbaugh can keep them in their game-plan week after week, and they can stay relatively healthy they’re going to be better than expected. They will not be able to do to PHI what they did to DAL, PHI defense won’t stand for that kind of BS. That’s going to be fun to watch.

Dallas was beaten by Rickard as much as anything. Hard for any team’s LBs to take on a 300 lb fullback.

Western Michigan won. NCAA "doesn't have the authority" to overturn the results. Of course.

I am not. Very poor recent track record.

Glad to hear that you are better from your armchair than people with actual information about the injury. Note, players lie about injury, a combination of wanting to play and fear of losing their position. Coaches face the question, is 80% of player A is better than 100% of player B. Note that it is easy for us to say, replace player A, but that doesn’t consider the impact,on communication, adjacent players needing to adjust their play to match the replacement and even the adjacent players’ familiarity with player A versus the unfamiliarity with player B.

The bigger reason was NY going 9 of 11 on third down conversions including one 3rd-and-10 and three separate 3rd-and-9 scenarios. Dart converted every single one of them. The defense allowed him to go 23/29. There were a few tight window throws where he was on target but a lot of throws with too much space. Ground & pass game was just so far ahead of the defense and busted coverage, it was just demoralizing for DAL inept defense.

Except fans on a message board who know for sure.

What makes the folks that prepare these internet stat charts any more knowledgeable. I'm absolutely in agreement that "progression” chart is garbage. All "reporting” like this is pure speculation (and 90% clickbait). Who the heck is FTNTFantasy that prepared that chart? What is that person or organization that makes them better than any message board?

Problem for the last two seasons for Dallas is Jerruh hired zone based DCs to play the press DBs he drafts. If Jerruh ever figures out that fit matters more than draft ranking. Problem for Jerruh is his ego thinks he built the Jimmy Johnson teams. He didn’t. Hell, a big core of those teams was built by Gil Brandt, who was phenomenal at finding talent. Almost forty years later, Brandt’s stamp on how to GM is still seen throughout the NFL.

Ah the good old days. Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug. DAL has seen too many windshields for 31 years.

Its good you acknowledge my expertise and authority in this matter. Armchair's are particularly influentual. In fact, I think I see one now. Lucky me.

Makes sense, he seemed to have tweaked something early in the game

Hopefully it's not something that lingers. I don't think he had a terrible game. He just got beat on good routes by Diggs.

This kind of surprised me. When the Eagles went from the knock-off Fangio scheme run by incompetents to the actual Fangio with Parker, the big gaps in zones disapeared. I think part of that is definitely the talent that was added in the 2024 draft but part of that was coaching. I expected Parker to help the Cowboys close down those gaps in coverage. He did not. There is definitely a talent gap. Parker is going from coaching a very talented back 7 with 3 elite players to a promising rookie and JAGs. I still expected more from them in the first game.

😂 stat padding with 5 possessions total? Two in the second half? They scored on their last drive, were one score down when NY got the ball the last time to run out the clock. C’mon man. As crappy as they played they were still in the game, that’s not padding stats, that’s competing (or at least trying to) Forced four fumbles in the game, they could’ve forced another and scored on that last NY drive.

I’m not saying they could’ve/should’ve won, I’m saying calling what he did stat padding is ridiculous.

💯, the busted coverage to the flat three straight plays was insane. DAL is playing a few rooks. Luckily Downs actually had a decent game. Barham was lost and hesitant, Malachi Lawrence had zero impact. It’s going to take some time to develop what CP wants to do with the young guys (if they’re the right guys), it’s also going to take some time for him to grow into a seasoned DC.

I’m an optimist but also a realist, it’s going to take some time, at least a year or two if not longer. If DAL tries to trade for a LB before the deadline I will not be happy (seen a few writers clamoring for a big name backer), as horrible as the LBs are, getting a good one doesn’t fix things. Hopefully they’re out of it before the deadline even gets close so they can focus what they have and evaluate for the next few moves without wasting resources. It is what it is.
